    Chris, I have the wildest story. So, I just flew from Chattanooga, TN to San Francisco, and before I left I downloaded the last 7 videos to watch on the plane. Anyway, watched on the trip, landed, got my rental car from SFO and got on the interstate heading towards downtown. So today around 11:30-12 as I’m driving, I see ahead of me what appears to be a tan schooly, OMG, it was Wess. Wess, I was the guy in the white SUV that was in the horn, sorry.

    Hello Kobuck! Great job guys, and it was very nice of that guy to come by and help out. Its a terrific way to learn skills and get ideas. Even-though you're not mentioning G is giving input on the design, I certainly hope she is because we ned her to be happy! Looking forward to the finished product...

      Not to mention that guy's planking that was clutch. Anybody building a bus would really benefit from knowing that guy.

    • @thepennydreadfulbus8461
      @thepennydreadfulbus8461 6 років тому

      2AZSUN - Maybe that guy should build his own bus too. :P

      That's a great idea!! I'd probably watch that guy build his bus too! Somebody should probably tell that guy to get on that. What do you think the chances are that guy's looking at the comments??

    • @thepennydreadfulbus8461
      @thepennydreadfulbus8461 6 років тому

      2AZSUN - I don't know... slim to none maybe. Unless he's editing a video of his own, then breaks and research are a must since he's a newb at them.

    Chris may I suggest priming your wood before installing., And maybe painting the outside bus side of the wood completely

    Friendly request! First, thanks for sharing. Given your experience with the Tiny Home channel, can you share more details about why you are doing something (pros/cons) when you are choosing to do something. I think many of your followers have a similar desire. You have seen so many details when you film that don't always get explained thoroughly. Thanks in advance!!

    By the time curtains, pillows, little shelves, etc. is applied with decorating, the different cuttings of the boards in the bedroom will not be noticeable. I have personally went through 3 new house builds and it always amazed me how the final touches cover up a lot of infractions in the building process. You are aware of those infractions, but others aren't, focus on the finish and enjoy the end results of your efforts.

    Wood expands and contracts with the temperature and humidity inside the bus. You need a space between the wood panels.

    That's some HIGH DOLLAR ply!!!!! Are you worthy? HA HA You going with some T & G stuff on the ceiling? I'm curious how you all are going to trim out the wall penetrations. It's looking great Chris. This is when you don't want to get caught up in the moment. You're right; keep thinking ahead. Keep up your quota; ice cream and beer!!!!!!!!!!

    With those wall panels being so snuggly fit do you worry about them buckling when you hit hot humid areas and they expand?

      If they do happen to buckle, just keep a circular saw handy, and cut in a few expansion joints. I'll cross my fingers for you bc I'm planning on copying your build.

    The proper wire splice on a moving vehicle would be a butt splice not a wire nut. Wire nuts can wiggle loose and maybe cause a short circuit. (of course at the most inopportune time)

  • @scottkursch3169
    @scottkursch3169 5 років тому

    LOL... At :32, the editing music contains a bunch of whistling type background along with the filmed sounds of power tools running. They you say, "..as you can hear, Jim's in the back working...". I wonder if anybody else got a kick out of that or wondered if that narration was totally unintentional. (If you've ever listened/watched Jim work, you know what I'm talking about)

    I'm an electrician, I see too many splice wires, I have not finished seeing the whole videos but you should have all your splices in a box to make accessible for troubleshooting.
    Run a straight wire to the fixtures is highly recommended. when wiring low voltage splices wires cause a voltage drop in every splice.

  • @ericdebord

  • @johnnyb8629
    @johnnyb8629 6 років тому

    I suspect using nails is going to be a mistake as the bus when moving flexes and the nails will loosen. It also appears the thickness of those veneer plywood panels is unnecessarily thick making it unnecessarily heavy. I hope you have a better wire management plan instead of that rats nest running the length of the bus. Just a few observations.
