For anyone frustrated with the middle finger on the right hand and not being able to play as fast as Shawn. Shawn was a piano player, so much of his speed in the fingers of his right hand comes from playing the piano. Piano players have amazing speed in their right hand fingers.
Hey, I was wondering how you would approach jazz changes with Shawn's licks. I'm a big fan of Shawn Lane and have been using his power licks booklet religiously. However, I don't know how to approach most of the longer licks, which are based on rhythmic groupings of fours, fives, sixes, and so on, musically in my playing. Right now, I'm just playing those licks in a way that feels and sounds right, but I have no real theoretical background, so I'm at a loss here. With rock songs, I could get away with it, but I'm trying to transform my style a bit into fusion, so jazz chord changes are new to me. Any input is appreciated! 🤗
Thanks for this and your other vids. Very very good playing.
Inspiring!
Enjoy your analysis and instruction of Shawn Lane
Can never get enough
Thank you
Good! I have more.
