I have destroyed so many ranunculus learning how to do this for wearables (2 proms & my first year growing these). Your videos have the BEST advice ever. Thank you! I have 2 teens telling friends "oh my mom can do that for you" 😂. No I can't, but I am learning!!
Hello! I have a question. Do you recommend wiring them as you’re processing them or when you’re actually going to use them for a bouquet/arrangement/centerpiece? Thanks
Great question! Personally, I like to wire them before I use them in a design. However, if I unwrap them and they are all bent then I wire them right away. Ranunculus can be tricky like that, you will get them in and they are perfect but the next day when their heads open they will bend under their own weight when they don't have the supportive wrappings to keep'em upright. Does that make sense?
For the first time ever, I got a bunch of ranunculus that does NOT have a hollow stem. The stems are super tough, and I cannot get the wire through them. What have you done in this situation?
That has happened to me when the stems have a lot of notches. When that happens I run the wire midway and wrap the excess wire around the notchy part of the stem. It's kinda hard to explain, but I have an Insta Reel on this @flowermoxie
When do you recommend doing this? my flowers are being delivered 4 days before the event. Do I need to do this the day I get them or when I start building the arrangements?
@@FlowerMoxie So do you recommend wiring them the day we pick them up 4 days before the event? Like after they've drank water and been cleaned? or wait till less than 4 days before the event?
You can wire anything externally, but few flowers have a hollow center like a ranunculus. To wire externally, you will poke the stem with the wire, hold it down with your thumb while wrapping the wire down the stem.
That totally happens to me sometimes, too! I just back it out and rerun the wire and sometimes I'll take a piece of stem tape to wrap the wound if it splits.
Oh man, those are delicate little snowflakes! Their head grows facing out and can be snapped off easily. I'd recommend using straightwire, gently stabbing the head of the blooms, gingerly wrapping it around the stem a few times, and slowly winding your way down. I love the look of dahlias but hate working with'em. XO

You can do it!
Yes, you would've been the right surgeon to open up the arteries. Thanks for the tips and laughs. I always enjoy it.😊
Ha! Thank you!
Can’t thank you enough for this. Appreciate the content and the humor!
Hey, THANK YOU! We try to keep things on the funny side so I'm glad it's well received!

Flower Moxie makes perfect sense! Thanks so much for sharing the knowledge.

We clean up the stems after we've let them drink for a bit after receiving. Clean those stems immediately after removing from the packaging!

Hey Amy!!! Yay for a new video. I have a question about wiring the flowers. Does it change how long they last?
I feel like it does. Unwired ranunculus can last for over 1 week sometimes, I feel wired ranuncs only make it a few days past the weddings.
Thanks so much! Definitely helps in the timeline of putting a bouquet together.
Do you sell this on your website with the other supplies?
I'm out but restocking soon! You can buy straight floral wire at Michaels or the Hob Lob.
Where do you get wire that comes straight like that? Thanks!
You can typically find it at hobby stores, or we sell it on our DIY Supply Site! XXXX
Can you wire things like delphinium and snapdragons too?
You can wire anything externally, but few flowers have a hollow center like a ranunculus. To wire externally, you will poke the stem with the wire, hold it down with your thumb while wrapping the wire down the stem.
Sometimes mine pokes out the side and tears the flower. What do you do if that happens?

@@FlowerMoxie I was wondering if taping it would work! Thank you!
Can you show how to wire a Dahlia for a bride bouquet?

Are they still in season? I'd love them for my niece's wedding in October
Yep! I got a gaggle of them yesterday!!! XO
Is this the same method for calls lilies?
Callas don't have the same hollow stem that ranunculus do but you can feed wire up through the stem to support them!
@@FlowerMoxie thank you!
Great tip, thanks 😊
I felt the same way when I learned!
How do you keep the wire from slipping back out of the flower?
It doesn't fall out....but I do run it up the inside until I can feel that I stabbed the head. (sounds so violent! LOL)
Beautiful!
Thank you!
