Yes, this franchise would instantly turn into a psychological horror if it was told from Charlie's perspective. He's a nice, normal guy thrust into a strange situation, yet he's constantly kept out of the loop. I wonder if he ever found out that Jacob imprinted on his granddaughter, who aged many years overnight?
At the end the audience is left to wonder if Charlie is safe, if Bella is taken against her will, what is the baby, and why is Jacob so weird around it.
Charlie's just like "huh, odd how my grandchild was only born a couple days ago and already looks like she's six years old but I don't think it's THAT weird. Or the fact my child hasn't aged. Perfectly normal."
towards the end of the last twilight installment, charlie adapted the "i won't ask bc maybe ignorance really is bliss so long as bella is safe and alive" mentality. bella even said something along the lines of "can you stop asking questions if i promise you im fine?", he agreed. so despite Reese's Pieces unnaturally quick growth spurts, he's probably already exhausted from seeing a boy he's known for 10+yrs turn into a wolf and his own daughter is now two shades paler with ice cold skin and red eyes. let him rest 😅
Wow...just realized that he was totally being gaslit the whole time. After she was turned Bella should've told him that his hunches about things being strange were true and apologized for dismissing him. Maybe making the statement that, "It's not my place to share everything about the Cullens and the culture I am in now, but you should know that I value your concern and you were right in thinking things were abnormal with me.
This felt like Charlie met up with the moms of the neighborhood for tea and finally got the chance to talk about himself. I'm totally picturing the other moms responding like "Mm, teens." and "My Melissa is the same way with her boyfriend!"

charlie is defenittly team jacob and alice, anything is better than edward. Honestly i am team alice cuz she at least seems somewhat reasonable and sees her as an actual person unlike some other people
Jacob whole ass says pulls the "i want to groom your child because thats how werewolves works" i feel like charlie would not be down with his granddaughter being groomed
Charlie should’ve shipped bella back to her moms when she went into a depression after Edward abandoned bella in the woods and demand that she be put in therapy to deal with her issues.
If I remember right, he tried to do both in New Moon, and she threw a huge fit. When he tried getting her to a therapist, she rejected to go because she thought she'd be put in an asylum.
I really love how obsessed the internet has become with charlie in recent years... especially since, upon learning this, my dad just casually dropped a "oh yeah in school I was friends with billy burke" which really took me out 😂
Last time I rewatched the first Twilight movie with my friends, I realized that in EVERY SINGLE SCENE Charlie is in he has at least one tallboy beer can with him. Every scene. Idk if that continues in the other movies, but it is definitely my favourite part of the series.
Its mentioned because he loves beer, and that beer he drinks in the movie was his favorite brand I googled finding out that answer when I wanted to buy the same beer brand but it doesnt exist nowXD
@@schoo9256 yes :3 its no longer brewed locally for people to buy everywhere but in certain places it still exists I guess I just googled more info lol
I always thought Charlie was lowkey stressedddddd because of all of this. Like nobody really asked him if he was okay after his daughter almost died, kept him out the loop numerous times, saw Jacob become a werewolf, etc. I just know I would have given him a bottle and month away lol
Same. Dude probably has more gray hairs from dealing with Bella and her supernatural pals than being a damn cop. I wonder how stressed out he'll be when he finds out his granddaughter is dating his friend's 35 year old son at the age of 18 if not younger. I don't see Charlie approving.
Up until the Jacob wolf reveal, Charlie has got to be thinking Bella’s in an abusive relationship. All the red flags are there and he’s in police work so it would be a familiar topic
Wow, hearing all of this from Charlie's perspective really highlights how crappy of a person Bella truly is. She plays emotional yo-yo with her dad, tells him nothing, and uses him and his home purely transactionally to be close to Edward. She brushes off his concern, doesn't involve Jim in her life, and generally doesn't seem to care that much about him whatsoever. Like, the trend I've seen some people making Charlie Vampire Hunter AUs makes a hell of a lot more sense now.
She‘s basically aweful to everybody except maybe her daughter. She threatens to kill herself left and right which is absolutely a no-go in each and every relationship ever
I cried a little when I read the scene of her using her moms words as ammunition to hurt him so he would let her leave, all under the guise of keeping him safe…
Also like…his daughter seems to have settled into her new town, has a group of mostly good friends (Jessica being the exception), is going on outings with them, but then becomes obsessed with a guy who has no friends, is part of a family that dates their adopted siblings, and while I love his dad, is really weird. My daughter then goes to some event at their family home, rushes home to tell me that she’s broken up with her boyfriend and literally says the same thing that my ex-wife told me when she left me, is gone for several weeks (iirc in the book they’re in the hotel for several weeks) then comes back with a broken leg and tells me that she and her boyfriend are back together. Immediately, there are going to be some VERY big alarm bells going off. Now she goes to ANOTHER event at his family’s house, comes back injured, and the next day the boyfriend and his entire family ditch town and he leaves my daughter in the forest, where I have to organize a search party for her. She goes into a months long depression and wakes up screaming and crying but then starts hanging out with a kid I’ve known his entire life, and begins feeling happy and hanging out with her friends again, although this time, it’s only her good friends (Jessica having left her for Lauren’s side). She then departs for Italy for two days, and comes back with her boyfriend. She stops hanging out with Jacob, and it’s all Edward again. She goes on a camping trip, and emerges injured once more. She gets married at EIGHTEEN, disappears for several weeks, I’m told that she has a suspicious viral illness that I can’t visit her for, but I see Dr Cullen around town. Weeks later, a boy I’ve known his entire life strips down and turns into a wolf, and I visit my daughter’s house. There’s a child whom I do not know who is there, my daughter looks healthy but last time I heard she was on her deathbed. As someone who is likely trained to recognize the signs of domestic abuse, there are likely SO many alarms going off in my head.
I always felt like this looked bad from Charlie's point of view, but having you spell the entire incident out... I feel so bad for Charlie. He just so confused
I wish instead of Edward there was just Robert Pattinson being himself, growing increasingly disturbed and confused by the people around him and their absurd actions. It would be comedy gold.
I bet you Shang was annoyed af that he had some weird feeling for Ping, that why he traew a tantrum when he found out about a drag show that Mulan put up😅
Never been a Twilight fan, but I would totally read a version of it from Charlie's point of view. Imagine him calling Bella's mom and trying to explain this sh!t lol
I always felt bad for Charlie. Call me a weirdo, but I use to ship him with Alice for some reason. I think the reason why was because the only people that cared about him was Alice and occasionally Bella. I was so worried that he'd pass out or have a stroke or something with all the things Bella put him through intentionally or not. Imagine having a daughter that got dumped and ended up depressed, got injured multiple times, screams every night after getting dumped, and running away to go after the guy who caused her so much pain. I honestly want a book telling his side of things. Poor man.
@@saintshrooms9424 Like I said I use to. It was back in middle school. I agree it would look weird since Alice looks young even though she is old enough to be Charlie's grandma or mother.
@@monicacreator3168 I meant it's weird based on appearances alone. I'm probably explaining this wrong, but I'll try. Edward gets away with being with Bella (in the books anyways) is because they physically look alike in terms of age. I'm not condoning their romance. I'm just saying without context, Edward and Bella LOOK normal while Charlie and Alice would look weird since it's usually frowned upon that someone that looks as old as Charlie would date someone that claims to be around his daughter's age. When it comes down to the age gap, Alice and Charlie's age gap is better than Edward and Bella's.
The older I get, the more I think that if I had to be any character in a fantasy novel, I'd probably want to be Charlie. Dude gets to eventually be in on the supernatural hullabaloo without having to know the nitty-gritty. He's like, "does it affect my daily life in any way? No? Then I don't have to know. Just tell me the important details in the event that I'm gonna die, you're gonna die, or you're gonna leave forever never to be seen again."
What I think is especially weird in the movie is that when Jacob tells Charlie that Bella broke her hand punshing after he forcefully kissed her, he doesn't react negatively to him. Like I was hoping he'd try to break his nose, too, judging from how he reacts to Edward. But no. And he doesn't even take her to the doctor for her Hand.
He does the same thing in the Eclipse book too. It was really out of character for him. He thankfully apologized for later. I'm thinking the intention was to show that Charlie hates Edward so much that Charlie allows Jacob to get away with what he did because he prefers Jacob. After sitting on, he realized he was wrong for not responding the correct way which is good on him.
@@dustymuffincop Well yeah but it's concerning that his immediate reaction was supporting Jacob instead of backing Bella up. It was definitely out of character, but he still did it and I'm still upset over it after all these years lol. I always skip that part when reading Eclipse.
13:00 is such a typical parent reaction, you nailed it!! XD Even a minimal interaction between your daughter and a guy is interpreted as "WOW I'd betterget my suit ready for the wedding!" XD
Ya know I was a teenager when the books/movies came out I was a teenager and while I love Charlie cause he reminds me of my dad, all I could think was “ugh parental obstacle to true love” as an adult I’m like “I would’ve constantly thought she was being near murked by her teenaged brooding bf”
I’m still waiting for the Charlie Vampire Hunter fic where he sees how badly Bella is being affected by being with Edward and just goes “fuck it, I’m killing everyone.”
Yes, and there's an alternate cut where Billy Burke plays the whole movie out of character, as purely himself, no attachments to Bella, pure confusement and not-dad logic Ohhh I would live to see a Charlie Swan Vampire Hunter Saga 🖤💜💙💚💙💜🖤 Much love!!
I feel like this is a pov if we went out drinking and chilling with Charlie to a point he starts spilling from little funny stuff to a full vent about Bella and her entire weird ass life and I'm either too invested or in a chokehold to listen all about it. love the guy
If someone hinted at you that it's dangerous to know then I'd probably prefer ignorance too. Bella straight up said she'd never be able to have him in her life unless he asked no questions and just accepted their 'truth'.
As someone who never read past the first book,,, this was thoroughly entertaining despite my lack of context apart from whatever has come up through, like,, text posts and comments mentioned in other videos I've watched over the years
I follow your channel for Miraculous Ladybug, and when ML wasn't updating often enough, I started re-reading Midnight Sun just to consume more trash romance. I literally finished the reading with the thought, "I would love to read Twilight from Charlie's perspective". Boy do you deliver
Charlie's POV just makes it sound like Bella got physically and emotionaly injured by the Cullens whenever she was found on the edge of dying. If i had no bg i would guess the Cullens were some sort of witchcrafters abusing the girl.
I like to watch this randomly from time to time. As a Native person Twlight is my guilty pleasure and Charlie Swan is one of my top favorite characters. You did amazing covering his pov. This video is awesome 😂
GODDAMN is this premium youtube? girl this was amazing, a rollercoaster, I will even binge twilight again because after this the movie is not the same to me, you opened my charlie's third eye *chef kiss*
This is perfect because this is exactly how I would like to remain in regards to this show, out of the loop. Never seen twilight, not planning to, but this was enjoyable.
Loved this and all your other "Perspective of" videos! I think an Attack on Titan from Levi's perspective would be pretty cool as your next in the series :)
So Charlie doesn't even know that she is a Vampire, just that she is now *something* supernatural? You would think you would let the Chief of police know about these kinda things not just to protect the town and the secret, but for his daughter's safety too.
Vella is literally the worst daughter?? No communication, threaten to run away anytime her father talk, gaslight the S*IT out of him, does not care for the poor man... Shes the worst!
This is why I roll my eyes so hard whenever Edward says how "selfless" Bella is, especially in Midnight Sun, and how Stephenie Meyer keeps gaslighting the reader writing new scenes to try and do damage control to make us see how "good" and "noble" Bella is. I still love Twilight though.
Just watched the full saga these days i think for the first time and felt really bad for charlie, i wouldnt want to be in his place. Both Edward and Jacob are dumb, but i think Jake, not to excuse him just in comparison, is a kid and loved Bella much more, at least in the first movies. And Bella is kinda evil imo.
Bella isn't evil. She's a teenager who had a complicated home life with divorced parents, is in a new town with basically zero friends and ends up in a toxic relationship that nearly gets her killed more than once. Of course she'd be fucked up. Meanwhile, Jacob is a classic nice-guy (in the movies) who sexually assaulted her and is now grooming a child and Edward is a total creep that (even though he may mean well) is toxic as shit.
One of my favourite things about these videos you do is that it feels like sitting down and catching up with an old friend you haven’t seen in years. There’s no fancy graphics or clips from the sources or anything. Just you telling a story as a character we don’t usually get to see the point of view of. I tend to have issues focusing on videos that are just people talking to a camera but your videos are so easy for me to sit through.
This makes me realize how confused he must’ve been the whole entire time because he didn’t know anything about Bella talking to a Edward except for him kind of saving her and then all of a sudden they’re dating and then she’s like go away and then she goes to Phoenix and then he’s like OK and then they’re dating again 😭 poor Charlie
Look, I do not like twilight. But THIS, this peaked my interest and did not disappoint. I think I just like high school parent drama. Thank you for making this, I like twilight 2% more now
Well, for a bit of fan service, check this out: in a fanfic I'm writing, Charlie figures out that the Cullens are vampires, and while he initially tries to kill Edward, he soon decides to take Edward to vampire court instead. At first, Charlie seems to be winning the case due to Edward's lack of evidence, and Jacob's incompetence as a lawyer. But, when Bella testifies against Charlie, Edward wins the case, which leads to Aro placing Charlie under surveillance, stating that if he breaks any more vampire laws, then "the book WILL be thrown at you". But, it works out in the end, because while Charlie was humiliated in court for breaking Vampire Law #4242 (which states that if a vampire is in a romantic relationship with anyone, vampire or otherwise, then the parents and/or legal guardians of either party cannot, under any circumstances, interfere with the relationship) , Charlie ends up in a bromance with Carlisle, and begins to think of Edward as 'the rebellious son I never had'
I always empathized with Charlie. Honestly, I thought in the books that Bella was kind of a bitch to her family and her "friends". When she got to Washington, the persons at her school were very welcoming and friendly, but her inner monologue was very judgemental and snobbish towards them. I think she is pretty disrespectful towards Charlie. I think part of Bella's attraction to Edward and the Cullens' world was the secrecy and exclusivity. She liked tagging along to these ancient, beautiful people. If she had met Edward a little older (provided he was no longer masquerading as a 17-year-old High School Student) I wonder if she would have fallen for him and rejected her human life so easily. A lot of it sounds like teen angst and boredom. Despite Bella actually being the least interesting and the most annoying person in those books, I have to give it to Stephanie Meyers that she keeps her readers curious and involved...I read these in my late 20s--lovable garbage. I just hope young people do not read these books/watch the films and actually base their choices from this codependent mess. For the record, I am "Team Jacob" in the books---I wish he wouldn't have gotten more involved with Bella and the Cullens and just lived his life. Jacob definitely settled.
I thought so too. Within her first day of school, she compares a guy to a dog for being nice and said one guy was overly helpful when he wasn't. Meanwhile she isn't upset that a guy she barely knows watched her sleep but she is upset that she talks in her sleep. Could be me, but she was way too mean to Mike sometimes. Edward thinks she's so sweet and pure, but her thoughts are straight up nasty sometimes for no reason. And she calls Jessica mean. I can handle a character being a b*tch but I don't like it when people swear she's a sweetheart in the story. She's not. As I've gotten older, her attitude towards Charlie makes some sense as teenagers can be disrespectful towards adults. Not saying it's right, but it's a thing some teens do. However her thinking about running away with Edward in book 2 is just upsetting. I know she "loves" him but running off with his family and leaving Charlie alone is cruel. I honestly don't think Bella would've fell for him if either looked his real age or wasn't a vampire. She seems to only take interest because he's handsome and a vampire. I'm also Team Jacob for New Moon mostly. Meyers ruined him in Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. I know he had his bad moments in New Moon, but he was still a sweetheart at times. More than I can say for Edward. Jacob would've been better off if the writer let him split away from Bella and gave him a girl that wasn't Bella or her kid.

charlie is defenittly team jacob and alice, anything is better than edward. Honestly i am team alice cuz she at least seems somewhat reasonable and sees her as an actual person unlike some other people
Alice also tries to be supportive of Bella’s interests and proactively protects her
team alice she’s nice and pretty and not a freak like those other two guys
Though she did totally ghost Bella when Edward convinced his whole family to run away. Until Edward’s life was on the line.
Please don't do jasper like that
How about Tyler
Jacob whole ass says pulls the "i want to groom your child because thats how werewolves works" i feel like charlie would not be down with his granddaughter being groomed
Charlie should’ve shipped bella back to her moms when she went into a depression after Edward abandoned bella in the woods and demand that she be put in therapy to deal with her issues.
If I remember right, he tried to do both in New Moon, and she threw a huge fit. When he tried getting her to a therapist, she rejected to go because she thought she'd be put in an asylum.
@@dustymuffincopShe really did give every sign of needing it
I really love how obsessed the internet has become with charlie in recent years... especially since, upon learning this, my dad just casually dropped a "oh yeah in school I was friends with billy burke" which really took me out 😂
That’s wild :0
Last time I rewatched the first Twilight movie with my friends, I realized that in EVERY SINGLE SCENE Charlie is in he has at least one tallboy beer can with him. Every scene. Idk if that continues in the other movies, but it is definitely my favourite part of the series.
My man needs it.
Its mentioned because he loves beer, and that beer he drinks in the movie was his favorite brand I googled finding out that answer when I wanted to buy the same beer brand
but it doesnt exist nowXD
@@princessamethyst9312 isn't it Rainier Beer?
@@schoo9256 yes :3 its no longer brewed locally for people to buy everywhere but in certain places it still exists I guess I just googled more info lol
I definitely think he needs it, but it's also giving functional alcoholic
Charlie taking off his moustache because it’s annoying to talk with is now cannon in the twilight universe
Charlie was and is literally the only character I could resonate with in this stupid series…. Your videos are GOLD bahahahaha
She truly emotionally abused her dad
It makes sense though. She's in a toxic relationship and even the most amazing people can turn horrible in those.
YES
This man has to be too tired for Bella's antics😭
I want to start writing my own ones of these, like Mulan from Shang's perspective.
I love that idea! Would make a good UA-cam series or something else
This sounds like a awesome idea!! Would love to see how it goes!
YES
I bet you Shang was annoyed af that he had some weird feeling for Ping, that why he traew a tantrum when he found out about a drag show that Mulan put up😅
that would be great!
Poor man.
Alice was in the body of a teenager though…
I know she’s old asf but it’s still weird
@@saintshrooms9424 Like I said I use to. It was back in middle school. I agree it would look weird since Alice looks young even though she is old enough to be Charlie's grandma or mother.
Weird that you say that since people say that Edward is too old for Bella even though hes in a teenager's body
@@monicacreator3168 From my recollection, Alice was actually a young woman in the books (not a teenager) when she was turned.
Also 20:13 HAHAHA Charlie was inspired on my own dad, I swear!
any character suggestions y'all 👀
Ever after high from maddie's perspective
Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure from Varian's POV.
Miraculous from lilas perspective btw love your videos
tinker bell from terrance's perspective lmao
@@nanjibahraidah350 I'd watch it tbh
Ya know I was a teenager when the books/movies came out I was a teenager and while I love Charlie cause he reminds me of my dad, all I could think was “ugh parental obstacle to true love” as an adult I’m like “I would’ve constantly thought she was being near murked by her teenaged brooding bf”
I’m still waiting for the Charlie Vampire Hunter fic where he sees how badly Bella is being affected by being with Edward and just goes “fuck it, I’m killing everyone.”
Yes, and there's an alternate cut where Billy Burke plays the whole movie out of character, as purely himself, no attachments to Bella, pure confusement and not-dad logic
Ohhh I would live to see a Charlie Swan Vampire Hunter Saga
🖤💜💙💚💙💜🖤
Much love!!
Charlie the vampire slayer
"He has other friends, unlike some people" GIRL-
Charlie is every good parent that's been kept in the dark about their child's supernatural shenanigans
I feel like this is a pov if we went out drinking and chilling with Charlie to a point he starts spilling from little funny stuff to a full vent about Bella and her entire weird ass life and I'm either too invested or in a chokehold to listen all about it. love the guy
The weirdrst part was Charlie not wanting to know more 😂 you heard about Werewolves snd Vampires but you just gonna turn over and go back to sleep 😂😂😂
If someone hinted at you that it's dangerous to know then I'd probably prefer ignorance too. Bella straight up said she'd never be able to have him in her life unless he asked no questions and just accepted their 'truth'.
As someone who never read past the first book,,, this was thoroughly entertaining despite my lack of context apart from whatever has come up through, like,, text posts and comments mentioned in other videos I've watched over the years
watching this as someone who hasnt seen the twilight movies is so insane
Honestly poor Charlie, everything is so chaotic from his perspective
I was always team Jacob too! He was the one who she didn’t have do die to be with, he didn’t stalk her, the relationship wasn’t obsessive
“Team Jacob…. For me” 😂
Charlie finds out she is a vampire and had a half vampire baby : YOU ARE GROUNDED FOR LIFE!!!
Being told my Charlie’s perspective, I can really see how young Bella acts 😢 like she’s just a baby
Charlie was the best developed neglected character in modern young adult fiction. If that makes sense.
I like to watch this randomly from time to time. As a Native person Twlight is my guilty pleasure and Charlie Swan is one of my top favorite characters. You did amazing covering his pov. This video is awesome 😂
This really reminds me of what the parents (at least the ones who aren’t selling you to 1D) in fanfics povs would be
The amount of EFFORT put into this, THE DETAIL!! Just, outstanding work, loved every second hahaha
This is everything. I haven't had the urge to consume any Twilight content since middle school, but this is *chef's kiss*
Poor Charlie he didn’t have a second of peace since Bella moved in with him😂😂 things kept becoming weirder and weirder
It's so easy to see how toxic Bella and Edwards relationship was through Charlie's eyes
He is so confused bout everything imagine getting two phone calls all of the sudden that your daughter is in the ER
I appreciate your commitment and I admire your acting skills. Twilight is my life, and also you are my life too. girl, i adore you
rip to charlie, the number one team jacob supporter
One of my favourite things about these videos you do is that it feels like sitting down and catching up with an old friend you haven’t seen in years. There’s no fancy graphics or clips from the sources or anything. Just you telling a story as a character we don’t usually get to see the point of view of. I tend to have issues focusing on videos that are just people talking to a camera but your videos are so easy for me to sit through.
I most certainly would not call Bella and old soul lol. But yes, Charlie, you are my spirit animal.
1000/10 Like hands down the best thing I've seen in forever. The COMMITMENT.
This is the first of your videos that I don’t know the franchise very well so it was an interesting experience
it's 1 am and i can't sleep because i have a cold so thanks for giving me something to watch in the meantime :)
Thank you, this is just what I was looking for. I just had medschool midterms so a good dose of twilight is exactly what I needed.
Good luck you wee hero
Charlie is the most relatable character to me
Look, I do not like twilight. But THIS, this peaked my interest and did not disappoint. I think I just like high school parent drama. Thank you for making this, I like twilight 2% more now
These are some of my favourite youtube videos ever made
As someone who never watched or read Twilight... this was an experience
You seem very insightful. We all hope to see more great videos on this channel. Keep up the good work and may God bless you.
I would definitely read the series from Charlie’s pov
ive seen the first twilight and now i never have to watch any of the others because this explained it all perfectly
Jacob would've been better off if the writer let him split away from Bella and gave him a girl that wasn't Bella or her kid.
bro Charlie takes everything in silence.
even though to him it looks like a fricking blood bath.
this video is so chaotic i love it
I'm Team Alice, who needs Team Jacob or Edward when we got Alice with her amazing pitching skills
