  • Thermalright is on FIRE (in a good way) with these upcoming launches. The Burst Assassin 120 Vision is just the tip of the iceberg. Also inbound are the Royal Knight 120, Royal Pretor 130/130 Ultra, Assassin Spirit 120 Vision (a $25 basic single tower with LCD), Peerless Assassin 90 SE, and both ATX and SFX power supplies. Especially interesting is the 80 Plus platinum SFX units in 850W and 1000W flavors.
    Existing coolers shown:
    Peerless Assassin 120 Mini (White/Black) amzn.to/3KI3fZO
    Silver Soul 110 (white/black) amzn.to/45paHmf
    My road kit this year:
    Main camera: amzn.to/3KpGEAS
    Wireless audio: amzn.to/3yMBlsY

Those LCD air coolers look great, especially at $25/$40 USD.

That 92mm cooler will obliterate the Noctua counterpart at half the price. Considering that the new top TR coolers will be about equal in performance to the new NH-D15 for which Noctua will charge 150$ is laughable...

Love the huge selection of products form Thermalright, awesome value too.
Just hope the US government doesn't ban them like they did with DeepCool

Can thermalright just make everything? I wanna get the psu just on principle lol

Eh, when shopping for psus both cheapness and brand loyalty are bad ideas for something that can take out your GPU/CPU or start a fire. I'd wait for cybernetics certification and a teardown review.

@@JoeBlow-kh3gq "Price means quality!" there is a strong correlation, but not 100%, hence wait for expert reviews and testing.
"Sorry; it's just that not once in twenty years of building has a "cheap," off-brand PSU caused me trouble." not the experience most of us share, including myself. Not to mention higher efficiency PSUs are simply quieter.
"My anecdote is worth as much as any other if not more" no, really. I trust an expert with a degree, industry experience, and 10s if not 100's of thousands of dollars in testing equipment vs some NPC in the comment section.

@@JoeBlow-kh3gq "Give me an example of a "cheap PSU" that burned someone's house down." I never said burned a house down, that is your hyperbole. Not that it doesn't happen, I just never made that claim.
There are however tons of fire examples on reddit. I had it happen to me on a prebuilt once as well. Given that it is most likely to happen during use with a nearby machine, I'd imagine most fires are caught fairly quickly. However a soot filled 1/2 melted PC isn't great either. Gamers nexus had one shooting sparks on camera during their testing recently. In addition to straight up fires, bad PSUs can shorten component life or straight up damage them, and this is the most likely failure mode.
'evidence the statistical "correlation" between "cheap" and "someone's house burning down." ' lol trying to sealion me?
"Experts who aren't in fact neutral, though they state otherwise" then you are listening to the wrong experts
"The Redragon PSU015 is a Platinum-rated unit. " is claimed to be, can you point to any independent testing reviews? I don't even buy a name brand PSU like Corsair or Seasonic with a good track record until it is independently tested. Every manufacture has lemons, cheaper ones, more so.
"It's dead-silent and has performed at 500+W, for more than four months, without a hitch." 6 months is a short time. Come back in 5-10 years with an analysis of hardware failures of devices connected to it... or point to independent hot box testing of ripple, crossloading, etc... I never even said that specific unit is bad, but I wouldn't trust any untested unit, cheap Chinese brands even more so.
" What's the probability it will burn my house down (be explicitly clear)? :)" lol more sealioning?
'You're unfamiliar with "FUD," it appears.' Fud refers to dissemination of false information as propaganda. Key word false... I don't see how that applies to independent peer reviewed testing. Seems like you are the one who is unfamiliar...
"As I said, I've been doing this for two decades." I've built literally hundreds of PCs. I have a decent homelab. I work in IT. Most of my friends do as well or are EEs. My first job as a teenager was at a local PC shop building PCs. I've been assembling/disassembling PCs since I was 9 or 10 years old. Consider me not impressed.

@@JoeBlow-kh3gq "Give me an example of a "cheap PSU" that burned someone's house down" Not a claim I made, not that it couldn't happen. I simply said catch fire, of which there are many examples of on reddit. I've had it happen to me, and Gamer's Nexus even had a PSU shooting sparks shorting out on camera recently. Given that this is most likely to happen while someone is next to it, I'd imagine fires are usually caught before it spreads. Still not great.
'Next, evidence the statistical "correlation" between "cheap" and "someone's house burning down."' Lol, trying to sealion me?
"Experts who aren't in fact neutral, though they state otherwise" then you are reading the wrong experts...
"The Redragon PSU015 is a Platinum-rated unit." That is what they claim, but it wouldn't be the first time a budget brand lied. Can you point to a single independent testing review? plat rating also doesn't specify protection circuits, noise, ripple, etc many which contribute to fires, premature connected component failure, and instability issues.
" It's dead-silent and has performed at 500+W, for more than four months, without a hitch." come back in 10 years with a list of all component failures and how often your PC crashes or point to independent stress testing.
"What's the probability it will burn my house down (be explicitly clear)? :)" what is the probability this is more sealioning? 😂
"You're unfamiliar with "FUD," it appears." no, i think you are. FUD refers to the dissemination of known false info. I'm advocating relying on multiple independent testing reviews and component analysis. Any manufacture has lemons, cheap brands more so. I don't trust any PSU without a teardown review and testing.
A premium PSU has a longer life span than pretty much any other PC component, and thus a better ROI. I see not reason to cheap out on one. It just isn't worth it. And yes I know cpus and ram can last a very long time, but unlike a PSU, their performance relative to state of the art drops much faster.
"As I said, I've been doing this for two decades." I've built PCs since I was 10. I've worked in IT. I have a decent homelab. I've built/repaired hundreds of PCs. Consider me unimpressed.
