Thanks for the critical review as always - and props for the quick comparison in the end : it offers a good perspective on the M2's jack-of-all-trades positioning. I hope Louqe won't regret sending you a pre-prod sample. You pointed the flaws of this case, whilst cautioning this is not a final version - that's a fair assessment and gives Louqe an opportunity to improve.
I hope they address the issues before the sale ends, this looks like almost exactly what I've been looking for; no riser cable, big air cooler and gpu compatability, no plastic parts, and simple flat look
I've been waiting for this one for a while! Thanks for being honest with the review. I was excited to pre-order, but honestly, based on the pre-production unit, I think I'm going to hold off. It doesn't really seem like the high quality you would expect from Louque. The build process with all the screws and PSU cable placement and no fan guard rails on the back sort of just kill it for me. If it was maybe just one of those things fine but it adds up. I'm rocking a Ghost S1 right now, but I'm looking to upsize for a larger GPU and cooler. Ncase M2 looks awesome but is completely sold out right now. Maybe the next batch, or see if production units of R1 turn out better.
honestly, now that M2 was presented, r1 is loosing its appeal to me. the volume is so much bigger, there’s no front io and color finish seems bad to me. i preordered the r1, but if I will be able to get a silver M2, i will get rid of r1. also the way that power button is mounted, i predict many CS tickets with ‘i pressed the button too hard and now it’s broken’. louqe owner once said in the instagram post that ghost s1 was the most refined crazy quality case that they will never be able to replicate and this product proves those words are true.
@@daftsapien yes, I cancelled mine. After cooling off, I think Louqe will make it a good case in the end, as they are responding to criticism well. But they are not changing the finish or volume, which are my main concerns. M2 has its own issues (flimsy GPU mount, potential delays), but I am willing to deal with those
If I recall correctly, in your Sliger S620 you concluded that even though you can fit a NH-D15, the NH-U12A was actually better for GPU thermals due to a clearer airflow path. Will you be testing other coolers like the NH-U12A to see if this is the case with the Louqe Ghost R1? I know people who buy this case will probably put a NH-G15 G2 inside, but I am just curious how a smaller cooler with a clearer air flow path compares to cramping a big cooler. Of course, another advantage of this case vs. the S620 is the inverted build option for instant better GPU thermals.
this looks harder to build in than nr200 or Formd t1. ghost s1 was the best in terms of user friendliness for assembly (once you figure out parts compatibility).
I have every case louqe has made, two ghost s1(this was my daily driver for YEARS until I found a deal on a 4080 TUF @msrp during all the supply issues. Knowing that the tuf card fits in this case makes me want to buiod in it! I wish matx was supported as itx boards are limited and many use a riser for front panel connections. I like the M2 as well, but have that nostalgic tie to louqe, with the ghost s1 being the first itx case i have ever used. I am curious to see if the fit issues are fixed for the pre-order cases.
I had a Ghost S1 and the build quality and design was absolutely top quality, really loved it . . . . BUT and it's a big one, for a premium product the power button was really awful, it felt squishy and scratchy and that looks exactly the same button. I have 2 Ncase M1's and the new Lian Li Dan A3, all of which are cheaper and have a good positive feel power button. I hated that power button so much I sold it. I'd love one of these, but not with that power button! So Louqe, sort out your really cheap feeling power button if you want more sales, as I know I'm not the only person it annoys.
it supposed to be a keyboard switch underneath of r1 power switch. maybe that’s why it’s jamming a bit in the hole from the spring wiggle of the switch.
FINALLY a case where half of the GPU's exhaust exits instead of being blown straight against the wall. All cases should be like that and mATX should be replaced by YTX.
So in the inverted mode what fan setup do you have on the inverted build and what is possible? 120mm rear next to CPU cooler, 120mm for the side intake and the possible 2x120mm for the top? Is the rear exhaust fan a slim 120mm? Is it possible to swap the 120mm top fans and the 120mm side intake fan for a 140mm fans? I can’t really understand the website.
The sensor of your camera has a faulty pixel (it shows green, I think). It is located horizontally in the middle and one third from the left. Most of the time right on the top edge of the case. In some other shots it can be seen very clearly like 10:01. There it is on the bracket mounted in the middle of the case.
I had your recommended configuration in my similar the DAN C4 SFX. Problem there is that the hot air from the CPU Cooler gets blown onto the DDR5 RAM, which reached ~80°C and then weren't stable anymore.
@MachinesMore Hi Sir, could you please check what switch type is used on the power button? There were some speculation on discord that it will be a cherry mx mechanical switch, but from your footage it seems too low profile to fit that.
Is anyone else getting a bit bored of small black boxes? SFF was a novelty at first due to the smallsizes, but now that I've grown used to it (and now that the sizes are actually increasing due to GPUs...), I'm craving something a bit more interesting. I love aluminum and I know from building custom paintball markers that you can do amazing things with aluminum via anodizing. Bright colors, splash or acid-wash patterns, etc. Black or grey powercoating as the only finish option on a premium aluminum case is simply boring. I don't think I'll be paying $200+ for cases anymore until things get more interesting.
kind of let down on this case looks incomplete and the price point is gonna hurt sales I was really looking forward to this case gonna have to pass if some they dont address some of issues that power cord placement and that bottom panel. The main layout should be inverted from the get go thats best for thermals.
Man I just wished they had like a raw aluminum color like Apple products. I don’t like the dull grey, black alright. I love everything else about this case. I was a big fan of ghost s1 but I wanted a sff case that would fit my d15 in it. This is the one for me
Thank you for your video; the quality is very high and informative. In my opinion, encountering workmanship issues at this price point is unacceptable. I guess this case is probably made in China. There is nothing inherently wrong with products made in China; in fact, many of the highest quality products come from China. However, it seems that Louqe has chosen the lowest bidding manufacturer with no quality control, which resulted in such a low-quality sample reaching your hands. Currently, China's CNC aluminum processing industry is very mature. Some individual case designers launch very small batches (fewer than 100) of CNC cases for sale, yet even these products are priced well below $250. Louqe's behavior is truly inexcusable.
Per Louqe it is manufactured in Sweden. As you mentioned plenty of great CNC coming out of China, just depends on the manufacturing partner you choose.
@@MachinesMore Thank you for your correction, I made a wrong assumption. I never expected it to be made in Sweden. I hope they can fix it later; they should fix it. After all, the core of a chassis's competitiveness nowadays is the quality of the finished product, and a groundbreaking design is something you might not see for years

The lack of bottom panel is definitely weird but the performance and compatibility definitely makes me consider changing my C4. Thanks for the review!

agreed, that orange peel texture looks so cheap
yeah quality of preproduction sample got me concerned as well.
Did you manage to cancel your preorder? I am tempted to do so with mine after evaluating the ncase m2 and the defects presented of the r1 here…

downsized from cosmos to stacker to caselabs s5 to ncase m1 to ghost s1 now upsizing to either r1 or m2. The endless search for the perfect case lol
Happy medium!
Perfect itx litre size 18 - 20 , especially for optimal cooling and parts compatibility

I certainly can! All this time I’ve been meaning to do a U12A build in the S620 again. One of my favorite air coolers still.
8:50 that assembly struggle would make me throw the case at the wall
😅
imagine satisfaction if u manage to build with that struggle
this looks harder to build in than nr200 or Formd t1. ghost s1 was the best in terms of user friendliness for assembly (once you figure out parts compatibility).
You rage easily.
@@iShredStreets you may be on to something
Been waiting for this! Very exciting!
Just like the S1. Wait for the revisions.

Very underwhelming in terms of build quality for the price.
I personally prefer the SAMA IM01. All mesh version.
Not supporting mATX when it could is lame
I love your reviews.
Finally an SFF case that fits the Noctua RTX 4080?
Was excited for this case but I think it missed the mark, feels like it’s not finished yet and lots of things need polishing.

How would you compare temperatures in this case vs the CoolerMaster NR200?
So in the inverted mode what fan setup do you have on the inverted build and what is possible?

$280 and no bottom panel? No thank you lol. Please make more Ncase M2 videos :)
I had a Ghost S1 that I used for over 4 years and it is still the nicest case I have owned, looks like Louqe is slipping.
Hopefully they just make a slightly wider version of the ghost s1 to take at least 3 slot GPUs. That’s all we need
Luv this!
I would be curious to see the comparison with an inverted Meshroom D + PA120 Mini
3:23 the bolt heads barely fit on the slots…they should give some washers.
Is your rear fan 25mm thick? I was under the impression only a slim fan could fit back there with the NH-d15 G2 installed.
It sure is- regular NF-A12x25.
Factory accidentally sent an NR200P?
I see fingerprints. Is it that bad or is it just on the black variant ?
Hi , test Mechanic Master KK135 CPU Cooler
I thought this was amazing when it was announced but now im like meh. Im loving my Dan C4 and dont see a reason to change

Mid tower case with similar materials 120 - 150 , itx all factors Held constant 200 and above 😅..
Itx math is crazy

No. Don't care. Good build quality and reasonable price is all I care about

Yessss I agree ive seen a silver formd t1 and it's so nice
Use clamps instead of trying to figure out how to screw in two things at once
No bottom and even no dust filter? Dust will make a civilization inside this case. Instant no buy.
Not be but I would go for the lian li a3 or the m2 evo before this.

Those fans cost more than my entire setup. J/K. Ok, maybe just the case and PSU.
I'm not an itx fan , but 270 here is a rip off
Damn I needs this in my life but damn $221 for this? Way too much when SFF cases are generally like 60-100.

interesting to see how bad 4090 performs in this case
Trash case
Just shave everything, it is over...
