- As Grand Marshall of the Rose Parade, January 1, 2003, along with 90 year-old Art Linkletter and Bill Cosby. Mr. Rogers died on February 27, 2003, 2 months later.
I was in one of the marching bands that marched that year. Now I really wish I could have met Mr. Rogers then. He died a few months later from Cancer. In fact he put off treatment so he could be in the parade. Such a great man. The world needs more like him.
I was in a marching band in the parade that year too! What group were you with? Lexington High School, SC for me.

I'm sorry. When you said sick ASF I thought this was about Cosby and you were saying he was sweet. It was instead wonderful what you wrote. Yeah. I got to applaud this great man for doing this. I still miss him
Rogers was a true legend
In this parade Mr. Rogers had if not very frail he basically wasn't feeling very well, but wasn't gonna let that prevent him from being there with Art and Bill. He still came. His wife Joanne said that unfortunately he got his stomach cancer caught far too late.
I was there! Was 9 years old when I saw a small glimpse of them in-person.
This was 20 years ago now in 2003. I can't believe this was Mr. Rogers very last public appearance before he died a month later in February which was a month before his 75th Birthday in March. It's so emotional I thought he was gonna live longer more after that.
