Alec Steele Blacksmith 2021 - Розваги
I think it's only fair that the next video series is having your dad in your Smithy, making a set of damascus chisels together.
Excellent idea
I wish I could like this twice
FF
YES!!!
excellent idea!
Father Steele has a great voice. He should do all of Alec’s narrations or audio books!
Sir David Attenborough is 95 and may retire soon. Perhaps he could try to fill those enormous shoes from a narration standpoint.
Indeed!
@@Tejvir7
Because he has a calming voice.
@@yamuda this is now a petition to the BBC to make father steele the narrator for all bbc earth documentaries in the post Attenborough age.
Yesss
-"I've enjoyed this week with you Dad"
-"Oh thank you Alec I've really enjoyed it too"
This is actually the british equivalent of hugging and crying uncontrollably while screaming "I love you Pop!"
True story
You're not wrong.
This is so accurate 🤣
True dat!
@@neilmartin4238 lmao “true dat” actually gets translated to “That’s right” by google
How did such a calm soul raise the energizer bunny that is Alec?
With perfect patience and much love apparently! Add to that exceptional wisdom and voila! an Alec who is a delight to the world.
he was probably just like alec when he was his age
Seeing your dad sitting in the house in his suspenders brings back memories of my dear old dad. He was my mentor in Carpentry and I lost him last year at age 93. He watched some of your videos with me through the years. These are the days you will remember for the rest of your life.
Sorry to hear your pa passed. Condolences
Me, a woodworker for three years: "I will get around to square mortises soon. For right now I'll stick with round dowels."
Alec: "Okay, I've been wood working for 2 days now, lets tackle square mortises!"
I love this kid. lol
It's not the first time he works with wood though. A lot of his projects have some woodworking in it. He's still amazing though
I feel your pain. Square mortises are a pain.
@@dillonvandergriff4124, but so worth it.
lmao, then there's me who's only really done box joints so far xD.
if theres anything to learn from watching alec, its just go for it, muck it up and learn from it.
I love how the dog is sitting on the table and watching Alec doing stuff.
A lot of dogs that were originally bred as guard dogs love to take the high ground so they can observe everything around them better. I certainly noticed that when we had a German Shepherd, but that dog never managed to get on tables this small.
@@rjfaber1991 ahh yes, malis definitely do not care lol they'll climb anything
New Title: Alec finds someone new to do the hand-sanding for him
I thought the exact same thing, lol
Full title - Alec moves country to find someone to hand sand for him since will left
You need to make some tools from damascus for your dad!!
Starting with a Damascus draw knife.
UPVOTE!
@@chrishawkins313 With suitably bent handles.
Oh hell yes. Please do. See what he has that's a little blunted, or a jig/new tool solution he could use
damascus tools can be a pain to work with, for the materials get different hardness. resulting in heavy maintenaince. but as a gift for show it would be nice
I think Alec got more compliments and support from his father in this video than I have in 30 years.
I was thinking the same. Its so beautifull it hurts
That’s the kind of father I want to be
Why would Alecs dad give you 30 years of compliments? 🤷🏻♂️
Be that father to your children
Yup add more episodes with dad, brings a calm and elegance to the show
Never thought I’d see the day when someone says that heating metal and hitting it with a lot of force isn’t elegant or calm 😂
@@chrisphillips1130 Same with welding. There is some elegance to it. More so with TIG.
The wisdom of decades of experience passed to the new generation. That is the bedrock on which society stands.
I would LOVE to have a workshop like this. But to your point... the sad reality is, many of those hard learned skills are disappearing and while they're not gone completely... so few have them that it'll be damn near impossible to see them widely known again
It’s the chair on which we sit.
Well said
@@jordanc8499I hope you are wrong. It does seem to be harder to set up a shop and get started but there are more resources to learn from than ever.
@David Single sadly, with America being a corporatist state, no one can afford to buy local.
I love that your father not only speaks a proper English, he also defaults to not using fantasy units (@4:50).
...and next week on Alec Steele masters ALL the skills - "My Uncle Gerald and I tailor a three-piece suit!" :D
Joking aside, I loved watching this particular series, it was a complete joy to watch Father and Son working together.
He's almost done that, designed and made his clothing line!
"Is it a good chair?! Is it a good chair?!" Yes it is Alec! Good Boy!
Brought a little tear to my eye when your father said to "enjoy it, the whole of your life". As a father myself, I know exactly what he means. My mother passed away 6 months ago and what I wouldn't give to sit down with her again if only for a few minutes. Cherish every moment you have with your father who obviously loves you dearly. Cheers.
Beautifully said, Canuck RS. Spot on...
More films with your father, please! This short series was a joy to watch!
7:49, everytime Alec puts a project into a vice and applies pressure I am wracked with anxiety
A week long Greenwood chair camp/retreat has left me with the most sturdy seat in the house. These truly do become heirloom furniture as they are strong and stable.
I think we can all agree that Crazy should have way more camera time
I love the sitting on tables and benches. “You make chair? I can sit!”
making the right comments on this video.
My brother's ex wife doesn't need more camera time
Oh you meant the dog....... yeah I agree
Why does every dog, no matter their size, think they are lap dogs?!
the dog lying on the table next to Alec working was adorable!
Wow, last time I was this early, Alec was making a chair out of steel
It’s crazy to see the amount of experience your father has and the lack of mistakes he makes probably due to his experience. Really inspiring to see his craftsmanship.
I knew a finish carpenter/cabinet maker that didn't use anything to measure if he could see where both ends will go at the same time and would have a perfect fit everytime. And then when it came to levels... he didn't own one and everything he did was perfectly level and plum. A square? Nope none of those either. 76 years old when he passed away and started when he was 10.
That was a damn wholesome 3 parter. You're a very lucky man to be able to spend those precious moments with your father. Cherish them.
With the tool you made for your dad, the ferret caused me to understand the term "ferret it out". It makes total sense now. Thank you.
"Pet the dog"
A crucial step :)
Alec has all his priorities in order!
Alec has a great ability to delegate sanding and filing to his helpers
I like that the shop supervisor Crazy has a platform to keep him above the plebeians on the workshop floor. Great build. Love seeing your Dad take knowledge he learned 20 years ago and pass it on to you so you can do the same and pass it on to others. Everything i know about Greenwood construction i learned from this series. Thanks to you and your Dad.
Your Father has such an old school proper accent. I love it. Need to hear him say "Royalty, Nobility, Gentry".😁
Alec, this has by far the best build series you have done. Your father is awesome! You have made great memories with him that I hope you never forget. Not only will you have those nemeories but the chair as well will always remind you of the time spent with him. Thank you for sharing this with us. Well done.
Alec you've created a wonderful time capsule for your family. Fifty years from now you'll still have this to look back on. Backup the unedited footage!
The greatest gift a father can give a son. The greatest gift a son can give a father. Beautiful. Never let that chair leave you Alex, it's more precious than gold.

Good father, good son, good dog. 😁
Hey alec I'm a young blacksmith from Texas and I just wanted to say I've learned so much from you and I thank you
When making a yarding sled for twitching out logs, I used the same technique when putting green Aspen wooden shoes onto dry Maple runners. Pinned them together with dry hardwood pins. The green wooden shoes shrank tight to the pins. Cheers to Alex and Dad!
Best series ever! I want to see Alec the woodworker more often
Is that was someone being proud of you sounds like? I bet it's lovely, what a fantastic dad, you're lucky to have him
Woop, I'm in the first ones, I really need to take this opportunity to say how inspiring this series is and how grateful we are that you are sharing this story with us.
Your father seems like a wonderful man. Very fortunate to have a father like that. What a craftsman. Great job Alec.
You father is so supportive and positive with his comments. It is truly enjoyable to watch.
Alec your father's voice is such a calming and interesting tone to me . His voice is alot like my grandfather's voice. Personally , I would appreciate some more indepth interview with him about whatever subject you come up with . Family is so important these days and your father seems to be a very interesting chap as you all would say.
3:17 most important step for everything you do
Agreed.
In my experience, yelling and cussing at an inanimate object is the most important step.
I love the glow up he gives you. Admiring your work and your quick learning. Then in the sit test he said it's the most comfortable he's ever sat in.
Alec, now you need to forge some green wood working tools, carving axes, sloyd knives, draw knives, and hook knives.
In the years to come you are going to look upon this video series when your heart needs a boost. It makes us all feel good to see a father and son working together.
This style of woodworking is fascinating, I've never seen anything like it! Hopefully this isn't the last of these vids
It must be a great honor to have your dad help you to make a chair that he has previously made. You are very lucky to have that opportunity
What a memory that you will now have not just the chair. But the video! Do more of these please. You and dad make a great team. Lovely to watch.
I knew his Dad is really awesome since he let Alec do his passion.
absolutely! sent him the best teacher when he was tiny, gave moral support but made him work for it. Perfect parenting.
Your dad sounds like he should be narrating a documentary on Discovery Channel.
Thank you for letting the rest of us enjoy this wonderful experience with your father!
Alec, please tell your dad that watching his hands as he worked and finished the wooden pieces was awesome. Fine craftsmanship shows in his hands and their touch on the wood. Oh, awesome chair, too, Alec! FR
Love the video.
I realy hope for a nother series about building a table together with your father
Looks beautiful! What a cool thing, you and your dad have being craftsman. Cheers!
Seeing this project makes me wish my old man was still alive. We always had fun working together on wood working projects or any project for that matter. Enjoy these times they won't be around forever.
Your Dad really should have his own show, Alec. Such a lovely guy! Great series and it was interesting to see how to make a chair from scratch. Fun with a capitol F. Nice job all round.
Tellement de complicité entre un fils et son père ! Bravo, merci pour tous ces enseignements Alec !
I love your father - such a gentleman!
I’m so very impressed with this whole series . I love woodworking as much as metalwork and have been doing wood working since I was old enough to hold a hammer. Making chairs is a masters craft, far beyond my skill level but something I would like to learn like Blacksmithing before I call it a lifetime.
I love this. The passing on of generational wisdom from father to son. 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
i actually really enjoy like your dad
Hi Alec uge fan from France love your job and love your spirit you're a big inspiration for me keep on going bye
we need more of your father Alec, his presence is so special.
And not a Festool in sight! Brilliant series. One that you will look back on for the rest of your life and a chair that is priceless!
finally, a video that isn't uploaded at midnight so i can finally sleep!
Make a set of Damascus golf irons after this! It would require precision tooling and measurements. Also your putter needs friends.
8:32 Finally! It wouldn't be a true Alec Steele's project without starting something over from scratch!
We should all be so lucky to have even one experience like this with those we love before they are gone... everyone watching should go do something with someone you love asap...you never know what lays around any corner!!! Thank you both for sharing this with us!
After hearing Papa Steele's accent, I'm gonna assume he is a member of royalty.
His accent is old school, well educated, middle class. Most definitely not the modern variety.
Glad I'm not the only one who talks to his dog in a daft voice
It's a legal requirement of dog ownership. If you talk to them in a serious voice, they might learn English and then we'll really be in trouble.
Father Steele needs a youtube channel. Livestream chair builds. Tea time Q & As. Woodworking tips. I could listen to him talk about nearly anything.
Please do more videos with your father! I haven't been able to see my father in over a year, and even if I could, I wish I had more opportunities like these to have with him. Your father seems like a really awesome and talented person!
YOUR DAD SEEMS LIKE A REALLY CRAFTY GUY!
One doesn’t experience self-transcendence, the illusion of self only dissipates 🎈
the dog sitting/ sleeping on the workbench so adorable xD
You HAVE to do another project with your father again in the future! Best series you've done so far!
"Father of Steele" would make a wonderful channel name, and I can almost guarantee that it'd explode! You and your Dad have screen chemistry like I don't think you can see! I'd happily watch another thousand episodes like this! Maybe you could teach him how to do some forging? Maybe make a chair _your_ way, with him as the Student!
Your Pops reminds me of mine. Always wanting to help and willing to teach you anything. Seems like a very kind hearted man. I strive to be half the man my Pops is. Great video thanks for sharing.
Just had a new short series idea: gardening tools like a rake, hoe, shovel, pitchfork, branch saw/cutter, etc. Some seem pretty simple but thought that could be cool.
Your dad has made my top 5 favorite people. Such a wonderful man. These father son videos warm my soul. Thank you for sharing them sir.
I noticed that your father was wearing the signet ring you made for him. It's lovely that he wears it in every day life, you clearly did a good job!
Great series. Treasure those moments where father and son work together. They are priceless.
Youre Dad is the coolest. You have obviously done the man proud Alec.
Alec, you are welcome to come by any time and speak with my boys about the benefits of listening to their father. 🙂
This video series is so wholesome. Please do more projects with your father.
You have always made fantastic content. Your blacksmithing videos are amazing.
I absolutely loved this series. You need to teach your dad some blacksmithing skills. What a lovely man your father is
The father son aspect of this series overshadows everything else. Nice series. Cheers
Alec way to highlight a true craftsman! Your Dad obviously imbued you with some of that making things spirit, I see that apple didn't fall far from that tree. Keep on keeping on and thanks for bringing us along.
Probably one of the highlights of your father's life, making this chair with you.
I love green wood chair makers. I have watch other videos on this process and I am always amazed at what can be built with simple tools. The Steeles are true craftsmen.
Mr. Steele is a true master! This is one of the best series of Alec so far. Thank you Alec and Mr. Steele
I couldn't stop smiling at the end of the video with him and his father.
So much Class between those two.
Alec your father is an absolute legend and a true gentleman. What a great series this has been.
Seeing you enjoy time with your dad passing On His knowledge to you made me cry. It reminded my of my grandma and how she taught me to cook. I have the knowledge of all her cooking seared into my head, the chairs you sit on will always bring you the joy of your father like the food of my grandmother brings me her joy to me.
One of my favorite series you have ever done!
I always love the alec steele videos, but since I do woodworking myself this series is even better
I love every second of it. It reminds me of my dad who is very sadly missed. Cherish these times. xxx
I loved how wholesome this series was so cool to see a father and son reconnect like this!
I absolutely adore your dad. And I love how utterly British you both are. Thank you for sharing your dad and his wonderful wood craft with us. 💜
Alec, you will never fully know how much your father will have enjoyed that experience. Great work!
