Great review and thought in this video. I purchased the 2200TRS earlier this year. I love the boat but you are 100% correct on the pivot with the 1 PP. But overall Pathfinder makes a sexy boat and I am glad I went with Pathfinder as my choice. Maybe in a few years Im gonna upgrade to the 2400 open but for now the 2200 is a fine boat for me. Love your videos and keep both of yall keep up the great work.
Appreciate you watching our content and glad you found this review relevant. This is our 3rd MBG boat and we are happy with our decision! Thanks again and keep watching!
Ok!! Your advice was awesome. Put a 4blade 17p on and the F300 rockets out of the hole. Love the boat. My only complaint at this point is the livewell system. We catch a ton of threads and whitebait. Some baits will die and they end up at the bottom clogging the lower drain in the livewell. I'm sure we can remedy this issue. Awesome boat. Hope to see you out there.
I have a 2400 Open that I love the layout better than any other boat I’ve had in all my years. The issue is I love offshore fishing and the boat beats me to death. I’m not sure if it’s my age 66 or just a rough riding hull. My daughter is a Captain as well, much younger and she feels the same way. My question is for your opinion about how you feel your boat handles offshore even in calm days..??? We’re born and raised in Tampa are but are moving to the panhandle. We’ve enjoyed your show..!!!
We really enjoy ours and if I had it to do over would have went with the 2400 open to allow more room in the stern area. That said, it’s still a bay boat. It rides much better than my 2200 and is drier, but it’s still relatively light and 15 deadrise so during certain conditions we take a beating. I choose my days but sometimes those wave intervals (2-3 seconds) are brutal even in 1’ seas. At the same time, I can can run up into the flats and fish in skinny water whenever I want as well so there’s the trade off. Welcome to the panhandle and reach out anytime! Thanks for following and reaching out!
@ thank you for your answer. We really enjoy your show and God willing we’ll be moving from my hometown to the pan handle where I can enjoy deeper water fishing much closer to shore in my golden years..!!
@@thereel850I’m throwing this out there but my 2400 Open is 2024 w/ 17 hours on it. It’s fully loaded with twin Garmins at the helm and a 9” Garmin in the tower. We have a min kota spot lock and two power poles on the stem. Of course jack plate and Garmin VHS. the only thing we didn’t want was music. If I ever want music I use a Bose blue tooth with my iPhone. (100.00) at Sam’s club. I’m selling it for less than we paid and I put money down on a Contender 25T. If you’re interested please let me know. Thanks..!!
Awesome review! Being of a shorter stature, I'm worried about the view over the console. Between you and your wife, how is that view. Any obstructions? Thank you
Thanks for reaching out. My wife says she can see fine over the console and she is 5’4”. That said, in long runs if I’m sitting down in the captains seat, I sit on a cushion to elevate my view a little more - I find the seats do sit a little low. But while standing I don’t have any visibility issues.
This video is awesome. The dealer is rigging my 2400 TRS right now. Added a 2nd PP at your review. I noticed you have a 17pitch prop. Did you go with a powertech? How is the holeshot and what is your top end speed/rpsm? Thanks in advance!!
Thank you for reaching out! Hole shot is very good with the 4 blade and trim tabs down. I haven’t really pushed the top end speed- I’ve had it up to the low 50’s when I was running from a storm. 99% of the time I run about 32-38 mph and I believe that’s around 4200-4800 rpm. Gets about 2.8 - 3.2 mpg. Hope you enjoy it!
Thank you for the informative review and your perspective. I am looking at the 2200, you did not comment on the bay boat handling chop outside the inlet offshore vs the center console. Please comment, that is my dilemma in Ft Meyers area. Thank you, Scott.
Thanks for reaching out! We had the 2200 TRS with a T-Top prior to the 2400. It was a 2019 model and we made many trips offshore during the right conditions - 2-3' or less. In these kinds of conditions, the 2200 handled ok, but unless the seas are calm, you're going to feel it. When caught in seas larger than this, it got us in safely, but we were always very wet and we took a beating. The 2400 TRS with the deeper gunnel rides much better in unstable seas and since it is much heavier and a little longer, handles the rougher conditions well. Ultimately, it is still a bay boat so we still only go offshore in seas 2-3' or less unless the wave period is very long and winds aren't bad. If you are looking at a 2200 with deeper gunnels, I would expect it to perform slightly better than the original hull but just keep in mind it is not going to perform like an offshore boat with a steeper deadrise. Our 2400 has been excellent to run offshore (up to 30 miles) in the right conditions. Good luck in your search and I hope this helps.
Thanks for reaching out and for following! We fished out of St George several years ago but haven't made it over there recently. We are coming over to Cape San Blas in a few weeks to do some scalloping in the bay and fish as well - our plan is to create an episode during this trip! We love that area - beautiful and not as crowded.
Been looking at the 2400 open, I troll certain times of the year and shark fish. Would be much easier out of the 2400 open than my current 24' bay boat. Only con's I see is no rod lockers and I question the ride. We travel to FL keys a couple times a year, staying at a canal house and go to Smith Mtn lake VA for a week at a time striper fishing. Nice to leave all rods on the boat overnight, locked in locker. The dealer where I have looked at the 2400 open, salesman has his personal 2400 TRS which I may ask about him taking me out on that boat to check out the ride. the few videos of people running the 2400, they don't look at smooth in chop. I like the 2400 open for fishability but really don't want to give up my Sportsman 247 quality and ride without knowing what I am getting for $150k. Agree on the Power poles. The local dealer has 3 2400's in stock, all have (1) 8' PP. If I get one, I will probably order it to get it with (2) 10' blades and 16" Garmin or (2) 12". Or find one without the power Pole and install 10' blades myself.
Thanks for the comments- you're right about the lack of rod lockers on this model. When traveling to the keys it was a pain taking the rods out when we stopped at a hotel. I think you'll be surprised by how well this boat rides. It is night and day from my 2200 bay boat, especially when it gets choppy. The higher gunnels keep you much drier. Can't speak for the Sportsman since I haven't ridden in one but I looked hard at those. I liked having a Pathfinder dealer close to me, although we also have a Sportsman dealer nearby. It's my 3rd MBG boat - but honestly - they are all way overpriced. The only reason we opted for the TRS was the tackle storage option - the open doesn't have this. Good luck in your search and thanks again for taking the time to reach out.
@@thereel850 - I would like to ride on one. I have my second Sportsman bay boat, well built boats, exceptional ride in rough water, and very dry with the carolina flare. For my 80% fishing being trolling with downriggers, slow trolling live bait and shark fishing with only about 20% inshore cast fishing is the only reason I would consider the 2400 open, it would work great for the type fishing I do. The boats are way too expensive now! I live on the NC coast, the dealerships are loaded up with boats that are sitting for months. Like auto dealers, the price gouging for a few years, now ridiculous prices and interest rates, the boat manufacturers may soon be in serious trouble.
We (Elizabeth) wanted a little extra seating options for guests as well as tackle storage under the helm seating. It was a tough decision but we are very happy with this setup. If you are looking for more space at the rear, definitely go with the open. Appreciate you watching!
Its a great combination inshore/ lite offshore configuration. We loved our 2200TE...but not for offshore much. Great video.
Thanks!! Informative. Appreciate you guys! Oh nice boat. 😊

How do the live wells on the boat do? Any problems with keeping bait alive?
Both live wells work great. No issues keeping bait alive - use the recirculation during hot weather and no problems
How the fishbox? The pictures online nake it look a little small. Can a few cobia fit in it?
I measured this morning and it’s 40” wide near the front- plenty big for some keeper cobia!
Why not the open instead of the trs
