Yes!!! I was gifted a 2008 5.3 gen 4 and had tons of questions after all the research I’ve been doing and this most definitely was one and I can’t wait to watch your next video about the cruise control. Love your vids keep the love going!! ✌️
My harness is from a 09' Yukon 5.3/6l80. If you guys could have put video out a month ago, I wouldn't have depinned and pulled all my a/c wires out of my harness. Lol. Grrrr. My fault lol. I had someone say that it's too hard to get it to work. Just go with an 03' ish compressor and relay it old school. Idle the engine up a bit. I didn't like that idea but you know I'm kind new in the Ls world. I'm going to repinn my wires and put them back. I have my schematics so I can put them. Back lol. Now I can learn the right way to do it. Thank you guys!!!
Im using a P59 from a van. These still support ac activation on pin17 like 411. They pulled the circuit in pickups and suvs but vans and s10s still used analog command
The P59 is a great ECM. We have used them on a few jobs and they can be made to do pretty much the same as the 411. Thanks for watching. We appreciate it. Jerry and Emily.
@@UglyTruckExperience ok I got a gen 4 setup in my obs it blows nice and cold i tricked the pcm to turn fans on but I would like the idle bump up I also got the BCM and climate control from a 2008 Yukon but what I wanna know are you using that whole climate control you never gave a finished update on the final install
@UglyTruckExperience I hate to ask a question unrelated to the video but . I have a 05 silverado 5.3 325000 miles just shut off now no spark . Any thoughts ?
I’m about to swap a ly6 into a wrangler. The motor only came with the E38 ecm. Dose the vin on the BCM have to match the ECM? Also do you know if the TCM needs to match also? You guys have great content. Thanks
Hello Jeff. The BCM and the TCM are not vin specific to that E38. If you have a TCM that is very close in the year and transmission that it is running it can make things a little easier but they can be tuned for whatever setup you are running. Thanks. Jerry
Hello Randy. When you remove the stock grind camshaft and replace it with a different cam profile, you are committed to having a tuner tune the engine once it is up and running. We use stock cams and the person who programs our computer loads a stock cam profile into the ecm and that is all that needs done. No Tuning... When you figure the cost of a cam and what Tuners are charging. It is at least 1000.00 difference just to make the truck sound cooler. They already have more HP than a person really needs. Its just my opinion. Thanks for watching. We appreciate it. Jerry and Emily
@@UglyTruckExperienceHi Jerry, to piggy back off of not changing the cam, I have an 07 L92 with VVT that I wanna swap into an older Impala...Can the e38 be programmed to keep and use the VVT? I already purchased a camshaft, but still need to purchase a VVT delete kit if I'm going that route...Any advice is greatly appreciated 🙏🏼🙂
Hey Anthony. That L92 puts out a ton of horsepower just the way it is. If it was mine, I would put that in with a stock tune and keep the VVT. The VVT works really good in the LS motor with rarely any troubles. You would only need vats removed from ECM. If you do switch to non VVT and go with a different cam, I would ask the person that is going to program your computer or if there is not a stock tune for a 6.2 without VVT you will have to have somebody tune it which is a pain and an expense. An aluminum 6.2... You struck gold there. Jerry
Jerry sor, question. Being I am swapping this Gen 4 Ls3 into my 03'Crown Vic Police Interceptor, using the Gm compressor. Using the Ford accumulator and evaporator from my Ford. Changing the switches to the Gm switch and my orifice tube is white. Do you think there will be a problem with the parts working together? Or would I prob have to use a different color orifice tube for the correct pressure using a Gm compressor? I know a/c systems are a/c systems lol. But they have to be right for efficiency reasons.
It should work just fine. You could try running with the adjustable orifice tube if you don't mind paying for it. It might work just a bit better if your in a hotter climate but I have never noticed a difference so I just go with the stock tube that was for that application. I would be curious to know how much refrigerant that system holds when your done. Thanks. Jerry

Thanks Rob. The class 2 data is different from the GM Lan that I mentioned in this video. I had found a great page somewhere online that described all of them in detail and haven't been able to find it since. I think it is really interesting but still way over my head. I know when I pull up a wiring diagram and it is full of GM Lan connections it gives me a ton of better access with my scan tool. The class 2 just basic info and inputs. Thanks for watching. Jerry

Hello Omar. The jeeps AC switch uses a path to ground to turn the AC on in the Jeep. On a Gen 4 swap you would have to use the body control module and the AC module from a donor and use a relay to control the AC module being turned on by the Jeep AC switch. Same as in this video basically but adding a relay to supply power to module by supplying ground. Hope that makes sense. Jerry
Hello UTx i did a 05 suburban swap to 1972 suburvan. You think that i might have to do the same thing that you did to run the 05 suburban front and back ac on the 72 suburban im using all front the 05 suburban

@@UglyTruckExperience I’ve got a stand alone harness with a 4l60 plug and I have a 2010 Silverado factory harness well entire truck without motor or transmission that I’m pretty sure had a 4l60 but the psi harness ask if it’s a early 4l60 and says it needs special tuning. I have everything to make it a gen 3 with no problem and take away all the questions but it’s a gen 4 block and I’ve never done one and gotta do it sometime.
Ok. Sounds like you will just have to plug it in and find somebody that is very familiar with tuning that ECM and Transmission combination. They put out a ton of them with that set up, but getting the ECM and TCM tuned for what you have will be the only obstacle. A good tuner will set it up no problem. If it is stock, you may be able to just send it to a programmer which would be cheaper. Thanks. Jerry
An idea for you from my experience messing with some Toyota Sequoias (2006 etc.). Use a purge solenoid to create a throttle body bypass, similar to the purely mechanic throttle body bypass (power steering air control valve) the Sequoias use. Then do it like the old school stuff, with pressure switches. Purge/bypass valve wired in parallel with clutch. Please let me know if that doesn't/can't work for whatever reason. I know the gen 3 stuff is stubborn about idling up when TPS doesn't change, you can give it excess air... a lot of excess air. Idle overspeed error setting pulls a shit load of timing to make it stay at the programmed idle speed.
Hey Marc. I can't see why that wouldn't work or at least help. If it was getting to much air, you could meter that and try to fine tune it a bit. Very interesting. I know you are a wizard with these computers. Do you have any thoughts on why the ecm would not read AC pressure without the AC request? Thanks. Jerry I just read your first message. We had the same thought I think.
The why of ECUs doing what they do is always the same. That's how the employee programmed it. The only way to make sense of that is annoying detail that doesn't really matter; reading a sensor takes CPU cycles. Probably boils down to what somebody learned in college that enforced these programming habits.
That makes sense. The CPU cycles. You get used to seeing things the way you expect and are floored when it is different, automatically thinking something is wrong. Thanks. Jerry
