Absolutely stunning findings and analysis with all the varied system connections. Amazing that the WiiM Pro is right there with far more expensive streaming products. The Eversolo uses those sabre DAC chipsets which will have that higher end glare.
Such an impressive effort streaming from the three to an external DAC. Eye-opening! Earlier, was listening to my system via Roon 2.0 and shocked how good it was upsampling to the WiiM Pro into the RME ADI-2. Had just tested Audirvana which is very good too but the window, at least in my system has narrowed greatly.
It appeared you were running a Macbook Pro with a direct connection using Audirvana. In earlier Mac OS on older mac mini, the veil was always there and noted once the WiiM Pro showed up. So slight difference there. Great job and an outstanding piece of research here no one has done which I happily stumbled upon amongst your other solid videos.

I very much like my sound and the best thing is I can play around with it forever. That this is not an exaggeration becomes obvios when I list the currant sequence .
Wiim Pro, REM ADI 2 , Prima Luna integrated amp and Focal Arias speakers (ocasional fancy cable ,galvanic isolation etc).
I have been trying to decide between a mere linier power upgrade for the wiim , or go all in and get the mano altar (Still would be nice).
Hearing you like the wiim with the loxjie gives me confidence with my ADI 2.
I should not of coarse be surprised , wiim have built there reputation on the fact that they're streamer has amongst the highest technical specifications that is all you want from a streamer the rest of the chain takes care of the sound.
Running a WiiM Pro with an RME ADI-2 via Roon to quality tube amp monoblocks and it is an excellent performance with updated McIntosh floorstanding LS340 speakers. I'm amazed at the capability and equally so the review here which delved into these related pairings.
I've run a 5 volt LPS with the Wiim Pro from the start. It's definitely worthwhile and I wold never go without it as it's an easy and inexpensive advantage.

I get very good sound with a music library stored on a USB drive (SSD) directly connected to an ifi Zen streamer. Streaming is good too, but the direct wired connection is definitely better to my ears. Have you ever tried a direct wired connection? Thanks.

@Tharbamar you mentioned mac book with audirvana is hard to beat regardless of streaming service used. How is this set up compared to Eversolo DMP-a6, SQ wise, when both are connected to an R2R DAC?
Thanks for the good comparison. I'm using the Wiim Pro with a Gustard R26. Fantastic combination. The EQ in the Wiim software is another great feature.
The Gustard R26 has a streamer port, doesn´t?
@@piberman The R26 has the ability to stream via Roon and other software. I only use the R26 as a Dac and not a streamer. I like my Wiim Pro streamer as is has a built in EQ.
@@user-fh7cv7vm7j Please listen carelully. If you use EQ in Wiim Pro/Pro Plus you are losing quality. Much less detailed and textured bass is the most noticible. Avoid EQ in Wiim if you care about sound quality. Other than that my Wiim Pro Plus is a beast! I use it with Volume limiter set to 95%, Volume FIXED, EQ off. Cheers!

Most of Sonos products come with RCA analog inputs, you just have to use a DAC with RCA analog out if you want to try it with external DAC it will be only in stereo mode with most HiFi DAC, thanks

This is the first time ever i hear try that KEF is preferably pairs with delta sigma dacs. Could you provide some additional info why you suggested that? I am currently using kef r3 meta, arcam A19 amp ( that i plan to update), wiim mini (plan to change) into arcam irdac (plan to change). I was thinking for wiim pro and denafrips enyo combo l. However the lack of usb so you could pair with a good dac and gain access to DSD maybe...is limiting. The A6 sound as a better longterm toy. What dac will pair well with A6 ?

I have a Denafrips Pontus II that I'm not parting with. I see you're only testing the WiiM with an external DAC, but not the other two. How are you connecting the WiiM to either of the two DACs? From Denafrips, I believe they say the best connection is through either I2S or USB. All three don't support many digital outputs.
Hey. I like your videos. I hve a couple of questions please. you mentioned "tuning" the loxjie d40 pro. I have the SMSL DO400 which is a marginally upgraded version of the same device. How did you suggest tuning the dac/amp please to maximise sound? Secondly I just saw the Wiim Ultra streamer came out which looks awesome. Would this pair well with the DO400 and is it worth leeping the DO400 for this purpose, or replacing it with the Wiim ultra - I really want the touchsreen, but obviously no need for eversolo as I think do400 sounds better. Have you had the change to compare the wiim pro and the wimm pro plus.
Streaming to a DAC, reports are that it's the same. As a DAC, the pro plus has better AKM chipset so that's a big advantage there.
I like this kind of test because it answers the real-world question of value for money. If you're a serious listener with a $10K system then the Eversolo or Mini makes logical sense. In my case, I'm not a serious listener, but I have a better-than-average system: Rotel A11 Tribute, KEF LS50 Meta, Anthem Room Correction (via a Paradigm PWLink). I'm using a Wiim Mini, with an SMSL-SU1, streaming Qobuz via Audrivana Studio. I found that connecting the SU1 to the PC via USB had much lower fidelity than making a UPNP connection to the Wiim (with Studio sending data in Kernel Mode). I'm using AS to send data to the Wiim because I think the sound quality streaming Qobuz via the Wiim software is HORRIBLE. I have two Mini's, so it's not a defective unit. I very much enjoy the flexibility that AS and the Mini provide me to connect to a variety of different systems I use.
Computers add noise and people go bananas doing all kinds of things but the Wiim Pro and now its Plus version have buried that as you've learned as many of us.
In my system with the WiiM Pro to RME ADI-2 and high quality tube amp monoblocks there is no downside streaming Qobuz or going through the router with the WiiM Pro. They both sound excellent but I do cascade fiber with Cisco switches plus a 5v LPS for the streamer. Maybe time to move up from the Mini.

Yes, so far Audirvana has the best sounding software and easy to use app, they should make hardware to capitalize the market, It will be game changer.

Ok if you’re not ready to pay more, for a streamer, maybe.. A zen streamer, although is finicky, troublesome, will crash audirvana anytime.. Just my opinion😊

I’m pairing Wiim pro with D70 pro. Not sure this is a great pairing or not but it sound more transparent compare to D70.
I use Denon DRA 800H for Tidal streaming but i dislike its integrated Heos app. So, i'm interested to buy WiiM Pro Plus and use Tidal connect app instead. Is that a good idea and how would you connect WiiM with Denon? I must say that i'm satisfied with Denons integrated DAC.
You can use RCA, Coaxial or Optical outputs from WiiM Pro to connect your amplifier internal DAC.
I have had the Eversolo for a month now and I think for simplicity, ease of use and the ability to store All my music on it as well as stream it can't be beat for value. Sound wise its excellent though I prefer my own DAC ilo of the Eversolo. It is still burning in and is getting better and better each week. You would need to spend a lot more money to improve the sound.
Then buy naim and forget separate dac aso
Does Audirvana give you bit-perfect playback? If it does, then it is doing the same as Foobar2000 with ASIO or WASAPI drivers enabled.

So by deductive reasoning a value combo could be Wiim Pro and Eversolo z8 (which people say sounds better than A6) and wiim is better interface and i think it adds up roughly same price
I am very curious about how you see a Loxjie D40 Pro verses a Geshelli Labs J2. I am quite happy with the SU-1 but if I can get even more out using my WiiM Pro it is certainly very interesting. I am so grateful, in every way, for your advice. Thanks in advance for your response.
As always sound is subjective but for the price and performance I’m still is awe inspired by Loxjie D40 Pro/ SMSL DO400 NOS like filter 0 option with good Pre sections, J2 is okay for what it is but not in the same level.
For the money I would recommend SMSL DL200 with latest ESS 9039Q2M chip over J2, which is much better buy and best sounding ESS chip to date, thanks
I purchased the SU-1 after your recommendation. A great combo and super inexpensive solution. Happy with it. I highly value your opinion. I remind you I own KLH Model 5 speakers. In our house rock, classic, jazz, some techno, get played ❤. The Loxjie Pro D40, SMSL DO400 or DL200 are allowed. I need your advice. I am grateful for your advice and guidance. I own a WiiM Pro and their mini, they easily link between my two systems and I have incredible sound throughout the house. I use vintage Sansui receivers with Zu Dirty Weekend speakers. I find the internal DACs in the WiiMs give great sound on my Sansui units.
Here is a funny, my buddy owns the WiiM Pro and the Eversolo... He likes the WiiM Pro better due to the ap. He is using external DACs, and he cannot hear the difference in sound.
what speaker and amp is he using?

His house looks like a HiFi shop back room. He has multiple amps on furniture dollies, some still in unopened boxes. He has stuff I have never heard of, but for some reason he loves the Parasound/PS Audio setup.
I had the same rig here and it sounded fantastic, until I discovered old Sansui gear. I still use the PS Audio DAC/Pre for the WiiM Pro, TV and Oppo. Best sound I have heard in years out of any gear with the Zu's.

@@Pete.across.the.street Agree, every system is different. I have had some streamers through here, had an Eversolo on backorder but canceled after getting the WiiM, now have two. They just released a Parametric EQ for the WiiM, I just found and tried it out, another level in overall sound quality. Very happy!

I keep wondering why you place the isolation footers directly under your components footers, as opposed to how they’re meant to be placed directly underneath certain spots of the chassis itself?. I’d think said latter placement offers a more responsive impactful type of resonance control, this has been my experience since the late 80s, where I’ve come to believe in isolating every component within my system, where I’m a proponent of the ball bearing technique, having started with aluminum - stainless steel - ebony cones | spikes, where certain materials used as means of voicing each component to enhance their tonal shadings is essential.
Merely curious about said method.

Thank you for the your reviews sir! I have a request. Can you include a short summary using RCA versus using XLR when comparing dacs? I have tube amp and does not have XLR. Im sure there is a difference using each and it would be nice if you could include these differences on dacs because some have smaller or bigger differences than others. Good DAC should not make big difference in sound quality between RCA and XLR analog outs except a few DB louder with XLR but sometimes people got fooled by louder output being better in sound quality (Including many reviewers), although technically XLR is superior in noise control and EMI/RFI rejection being true balanced connection but it should not matter in short cable connection of home audio rigs unless you have serious RFI/EMI interference. Hope this help, thanks for watching.
BTW: DB meter is a must have tool for A-B test, XLR to RCA conversion adaptors does not improve in sound quality.
DAC such as Loxjie D40 Pro/SMSL D0400 is highly suitable for Tube setups for having flexibility in gain control and NOS like filter option.

You should use a better power supply for your Wiim connected to your external dac. Then there is no competition.
For example, in my setup iFI Power X 5VDC, 3A works very good.

I am a serious listener, and to me honestly, all these streamers/Dacs all sound exactly the same. I have owned so much gear in my life, that in 2023 I can say, 99% of all DACs are top-notch spec wise. I own an SMSL SU-1 and can say this little thing sounds amazing. Even better than my 3 year old Benchmark DAC3 HGC. Most people won't hear a difference anyway. I do emphasise that differences in pre amps are more obvious. Love Class A nowadays. SMSL VMV A1 and MF A1s are amazing.
I completely agree. I have pretty much all the high end streamer and they are indistinguishable from each other. Save your money and get the least expensive streamer.
Z Reviews basically says the same thing. He says he doesn’t really hear a difference overall. Maybe some subtle things but negligible

None of them support Chromecast?
WiiM Pro supports Chromecast 100%, i use chromecast on it a lot.
Eversolo A6 can be buggy.
Only one has Apple Music, there’s no pt really a choice for us, we can only use and buy one.
Lets be accurate here the Eversolo is the only system that can stream multichannel DSD and PCM through a dedicated HDMI output. Game changer.
Not interested in multichannel, ARC maybe more useful for audiophiles.
@@TharbamarThe drawback of Wiim Pro Plus is that currently there is no direct DSD playback from Wiim app. The user has to configure additional Media Server on NAS or PC and use e.g. Squeezelite plugin in order to reproduce the DSD stereo audio files.
