July 4, 1975-The Big Showdown (Last Show-Audio)

-Audio recording of the last episode of the game show "The Big Showdown" which aired on ABC from December 1974 to July 1975. The only video that is known to exist of this underrated gem is the pilot (called "Showdown"), a March 1975 episode that shows host Jim Peck slipping on the stairs as he makes his entrance, and a bonus round clip from another episode.
-Even though the video is lost, the audio reveals a very exciting game and a great, classy send-off by Jim at the finish. The previous Friday three other ABC game shows had aired their last episode ("Blankety Blanks", "Password" and "Split Second") and this same day "The Money Maze" also aired its final show.

This was my most favorite game show. Jim Peck is one of the nicest and congenial hosts of them all. I did not want to see this show end. Rhyme and Reason replaced it.

I remember watching this eppie when I was a kid about ready to enter the 3rd Grade in September of 1975. I even remember the announcer announcing host Jim Peck's FULL name at the beginning of this final show! AND, I actually saw the $10,000 jackpot won on this episode which was the only time I ever saw it won. LOL!! :) :)

The finale aired on March 7th, so they reran it 4 months later.

Ladies and gentlemen, you have unleashed this piece of history. This is the final episode of the “Big Showdown” (aka “The Big Fall Down”) from 1975, and the announcer was Dan Daniel who was a DJ on WMCA, WHN, WYNY and WCBS-FM.
There was another episode of this show which is video only but it has the infamous “Big Fall Down” where a host just slipped and fell. Sadly, there is no video of this final show which is now belongs to the “Lost Media” iceberg.
I hope someone needs to re-create or re-construct the final show including the props and others.
