GPU usuage is okay, CPU usuage is there too but im not understanding why the system isnt doing its normal numbers, runs very unstable with bad stutters.
I would also like to mention that I cant even lock the system into 144 fps in minecraft even with crompromises, same thing with Hitman 3 on Ultra settings, cant even lock it to 60 or 100 without it becoming super unstable and stuttering everywhere.
I have ryzen 5 5600g paired with 3050. Usually when i play games like RDR 2 it gives 70-80 fos & fallout 4 90-100 fps in 1080p. But, somedays when i play games i think it bottlenecks because the fps drops like 50! I don't change any settings, not overclock anything. It goes like this for days and suddenly get fix automatically, what is the reason?

Sorry for the wicked delay on my end :( If your CPU is at 30% but your GPU is at 98% it means your CPU is doing what it needs to, to feed the GPU information. What I would do is use a performance monitor like what is built into Afterburner and watch the graphs they have. When you're getting stuttering if you're noticing a huge spike in CPU usage, then it's a CPU problem, but if you're noticing extra stress on the GPU then you could just be running into a limitation of your GPU. A GPU can be at 100% usage but still come across scenarios that cause 1% lows to drop which you will feel in gameplay.

Eyyy tyty! When you mention you can't seem to open riva-tuner like I have, are you speaking to the program itself? If so, it will auto-minimize to your system tray, so you've got to open it by double clicking it from there. I cant tell whether it's both, I have an RX 570 and i3 8100 and my gpu usage spikes between 0% - 100% and my cpu is always 70% - 90% so I dont know what to do

So I have a 3060 ti with a i7-9700f and get only around 100-110 FPS on all low settings on Warzone. Does anyone know if the cpu is a bottleneck and if I would need to consider upgrading it?

I'm not 100% where prices are at these days, but if you could find a 9900K on the second hand market, it may be the way to go. I paired one with a 2080 a while ago and they worked really well together. If the 9900K is too much, dropping down to an 8700K will get you hyperthreading and about 600mhz of additional boost on the top end.

Same theory applies. If your GPU is getting absolutely hammered and in game where you can see it your CPU is nice and low, than you're GPU bound. GPU usage and GPU/CPU time are not a function of nVidia but are statistics used in rendering in general.
Yep, something will always hold you back. It's all about balancing your upgrades to make the right move. In some scenarios your PC can even be more powerful than what a game engine can handle and your CPU and GPU will both be starved of information because the engine itself is the bottleneck (Tarkov is a good example of this)
Hello sir Carto, i do have a couple of questions. Im planning to upgrade my GPU im currently running on Geforce RTX 2080 TI (motherboard: Z390 Aorus Master Chipset LGA 1151 Atx), Core i9 -9900k , 32gb ram Power watts: (1000). 3080 ti or 3090 GPU is on my top list do you think I will be having a bottleneck or any problems if i upgrade the GPU?. what is the 3080 ti or 3090 GPU is compatible to my Motherboard ? Im specifically playing high end game on 4k monitor with high setting all time. Thanks hope someone can help me, i do appreciate 🙏
When you have 100% GPU usage it means you're using all of the processing power your video card has to offer. That card is running at capacity so there really isn't a way to "unbottleneck" it, your system is running optimally. You should be concerned if your CPU is at 100% but your GPU is not. This means your CPU is holding your GPU back. The scenario you currently have where your GPU is running at full tilt, is ideal.
hi Carto! i' ve been using i5 4690k and Gtx 970 , used to get around 45-65 fps on any game and recently i upgraded my Cpu i bought i5 9600k so i was getting 10/20Fps more than what i getting earlier , but after using it for 2-3 months the fps dropped drastically , it would give me maximum 45-55 fps, what do you think is it bottlenecking???
If your performance has suddenly dropped lower than it used to be, it's probably not a bottleneck. It's a temp throttle, most likely. Check your cpu temperatures and replace the thermal paste.
@@Euronius Bro the same case is for me I have been Using GTX 960 with a intel Xeon E3 1271.Earlier the gaming on my pc was smooth but after 6 to 7 months it has started to stutter very badly...is it a bottle neck or temp issue with my CPU?
@@ahmedmirza9403 100% temp issue or a bad driver update. Revert back to an older gpu driver and clean out your cpu/gpu and replace thermal pastes. If it was a bottleneck, it should’ve always been there. Performance shouldn’t drop that drastically over time
Honestly, depending on the game, sometimes you can't. I run into this issue with Tarkov all the time. The PC has resources to spare and the game just isn't using them. It can come down to the engine and the game itself.
At lot can also depend on the game you're playing. I'd fire up a GPU benchmark, like 3DMark, and see if your GPU still isn't at 100%. If it isn't then a CPU upgrade is in order.
How do you determine sub qualities? IE how do you determine, with RAM, if it's amount, or speed? I get, somewhat, downgrading your cpu various ways in Bios to determine if this speed or cores or threads, even if messing with any setting in Bios gives me hives at the idea of destroying the machine somehow. And with video cards, how might one determine if its clock speed, or vram amount, or even vram clock speed, responsible for a bottle neck?
For amount, it will come down to your usage. You can check RAM utilization via the task manager to see if you're constantly running near your capacity. For speed, it's best to check benchmarks in general. From the best of my knowledge, current CPUs on both Intel and AMD seem to prefer RAM around the 3200-3600 range for best performance. Going above that will net some gains, but at serious diminishing returns when it comes to cost vs performance.
The motherboard itself is rarely the issue, to be honest. In a way you could consider the motherboard a bottleneck when you can no longer upgrade the other components due to lack of support.
It comes with MSI Afterburner. I did a video a long time ago on it, need to do a new one but this should still be pretty on point. ua-cam.com/video/V1TgSGmkUYM/v-deo.html

@@n8n8n8n yep! 100% GPU is what you want :)
hi Carto!
i' ve been using i5 4690k and Gtx 970 , used to get around 45-65 fps on any game and recently i upgraded my Cpu i bought i5 9600k so i was getting 10/20Fps more than what i getting earlier , but after using it for 2-3 months the fps dropped drastically , it would give me maximum 45-55 fps, what do you think is it bottlenecking???
If your performance has suddenly dropped lower than it used to be, it's probably not a bottleneck. It's a temp throttle, most likely. Check your cpu temperatures and replace the thermal paste.
@@Euronius Bro the same case is for me
I have been Using GTX 960 with a intel Xeon E3 1271.Earlier the gaming on my pc was smooth but after 6 to 7 months it has started to stutter very badly...is it a bottle neck or temp issue with my CPU?
@@ahmedmirza9403 100% temp issue or a bad driver update. Revert back to an older gpu driver and clean out your cpu/gpu and replace thermal pastes. If it was a bottleneck, it should’ve always been there. Performance shouldn’t drop that drastically over time
The gpu…
Why is my gpu and cpu only running like 35% how do I boost it to at least 80% or something
Honestly, depending on the game, sometimes you can't. I run into this issue with Tarkov all the time. The PC has resources to spare and the game just isn't using them. It can come down to the engine and the game itself.
My ram and cpu percentage is more then gpu soo i need to upgrade my cpu or gpu?
At lot can also depend on the game you're playing. I'd fire up a GPU benchmark, like 3DMark, and see if your GPU still isn't at 100%. If it isn't then a CPU upgrade is in order.
While playing world of tanks, mu CPU is at 40-50% but my GPU is only at 50-52%? I am playing with high settings. What is my bottleneck?
Cpu
Going above that will net some gains, but at serious diminishing returns when it comes to cost vs performance.
how about in game cpu and gpu usage is equivalent? means cpu 100% and gpu 100% too
is it bootleneck for both or this scenario is balance?
@@miar-ridho3614 that's most definitely a cpu bottleneck. Your cpu should never hit 100% on any game.
How do you tell if ur motherboard is good enough or not? What if my bottleneck is my motherboard
The motherboard itself is rarely the issue, to be honest. In a way you could consider the motherboard a bottleneck when you can no longer upgrade the other components due to lack of support.

@@gamedevcarto it’s all good! It’s much appreciated that you got back with me! ❤️
Well i can almost see same CPU and GPU time at 1080p with Ryzen 5 5600X 4.6Ghz + 3070..
I have CPU bottleneck how can I fix this in laptop?
DETAIL- GTX 1650 Ti + RYZEN 5 4600h
PLEASE HELP ME 😊
Thankyou....
Where do we download riva from
It comes with MSI Afterburner. I did a video a long time ago on it, need to do a new one but this should still be pretty on point.
ua-cam.com/video/V1TgSGmkUYM/v-deo.html
so i tried this and both times were the exact same, so I am CPU bottleneck right?
i reallyyy need an upgrade but not sure where i should start, any ideas?
specs:
i5 3570k 3.40 Ghz
8GB DDR3......
GTX 750 Ti
thanks bro!!
my thing only shows my frames nothing else
nevermind fixed it but my cpu usage is around 60% and my gou usage 20% from what i watched the video its bad so should i upgrade my gpu or cpu
@@ooomatz If your CPU is at 60% and your GPU is at 20% it could also be an app/game issue. What game are you using for your tests?
Can you please talk louder
