    Install the slides on the drawer extend the slides use a block or 3 rd hand to match your height and install the slide portion to the side shims inside the cabinet. Also find a cabinet maker to work with or set up a router table like I did and make the doors to the right width.
    I started out very small like you and now do finish carpentry ( doors, trims, base, cabinets ) but not full kitchens. I like doing a remodel say like all flat panel shaker doors, soft close hinges, & new drawer fronts. All stuff you can do! Oh and look at a used cabinet saw those contractors saws R like an airplane going off in your head!

    I just did this on one of my cabinets and other than needing to sand down the top of the attached piece on the door (sticks a little bit) it came out great. What a difference in the function of this cabinet. Previously I added heavy duty wire pull outs on top of the already installed shelves which is also a great addition but pricy. Next I’m tackling my two door tall pantry cabinet. Planning on doing four drawers. With all your care on the spacers it doesn’t look like you put stain on the attached piece on the door to take away the whiteness of the cut edge or is that just the lighting?

    • @parisashleyhome
      @parisashleyhome  9 місяців тому

      So you are correct, I did not, I did wood fill and stain any imperfections i made on the face, but I didn't stain the top. 2 reasons, I didn't have the right color, and the only time you see that is when the doors are open and that's usually for about 30 seconds and then they are closed and you don't see it. No reason to not do it though!

    • @NanaStillLearning

      @@parisashleyhome I haven’t stained my top edge either and you are right it’s only seen for a few seconds. Enjoying your channel.

    Safety. Reaching around your table saw blade no no. Drilling looked a little questionable. Like the respirator kudos.

    Great work. But really you should stop using your legs as a table when drilling. I know it probably never happened to you but it only takes one time for the drill to slip and go straight into your thigh. Bring some board and use it as a table on the floor next time. Or even a foam mat would do fine.

    Great video. I just moved and want to take better advantage of all the lower cabinet space. Please be careful when drilling and nailing. When working on your lap, one wrong move and you can go into your thigh.

      No going to lie, that thought went through my head a few times *don’t slip, don’t slip, don’t slip* and I didn’t slip 😂 but thank for hr compliment!

    Please use safer work methods - for example, do not drill wood that is on top of your thigh! You are not setting a good example for us. I would hate to see you get injured. Otherwise, good info in terms of the installation of the drawers.

    What size is this cabinet base? Does the stile give support and will the countertop make the cabinet frame sag overtime without the stile?

    Most of those side mount slides, like Accurides have little tabs that you can bend out on the back of the drawers are too short. I don’t think most people know this.
    We get all our dovetail boxes from Walzcraft. The have great options for cabinet makers, them or Conestoga.
    I would say they are the go to for most shops.
    Your a braver soul than me, everyone is a know it all on UA-cam, including myself. Good Luck with your channel.

    A Japanese pull saw would have been a better option for cutting out the middle piece .

      There are really expensive pull saws, but also some rather inexpensive ones that work really well. Definitely worth the investment.

    • @dragonlotion1789

      @@parisashleyhomeyou did fine and for most ppl the way you did it makes a cleaner cut especially if you’re not used to a pull saw.
      My only contribution would be to make a wide kerf in the middle of the board beforehand to give the pieces room to fall, reducing kickback of your final cut.
      Great job.

    In my case I want a pullout system where the front of the cabinet is attached to the interior drawer so I don't need to swing open cabinet doors. Also, I need just a single shelve, or maybe not maybe two shelved just load and unload from the side once pulled out

    Doing this project as we speak. Curious why you didn’t screw the false piece back on the door rather than Brad nailing like you did? Great narrative on the video btw

    • @parisashleyhome
      @parisashleyhome  9 місяців тому +2

      2 reasons… 1st, I tried ha, but my screws kept breaking (must have been a bad batch) and it was like a third inch overlay, not much at all. And 2nd, doing loctite glue, a LOT of brad nails and clamps, it felt very secure and I felt confident with it. If the over lay is big enough on your doors, then I would use a countersink bit to get those screws more hidden in there :)

    • @parisashleyhome

      Nope! that is attached to the door for cosmetic only. That middle piece isn't support, it's just the face frame which is only for looks, has nothing to do with the build of the cabinet structure!

      Yes with cheap wood, but my clients didn’t want cheap drawers, they wanted nice drawers and it would have been just as expensive for me to charge to make the drawers with the cheap wood… so in the end it was more cost effective for them to order the nice wood, premade, then cheap wood that I custom made
