    I remember as a kid back in the early sixties my neighbor had a ham shack deep in his back yard and I was always fascinated with it. I spent many interesting visits there and years later finally became a ham and always thought back to those days. Enjoy your great ham shack!

    Looks great! I have an outside building very similar to what you have. I have had my license for many years, but only got started recently after I bought a new IC-7300. I enjoyed viewing your ham shack. 73

      You could do it. All it takes is a little time and patience... and another place to put all the "stuff" that's in the building now. 73, Jim

    '73 N1TJM Exactly what I've wanted ... Thank you! As a no-code technician, I've always wanted to learn the code and set up an HF shack on a budget (I'm retired so, not much cash). I'm in CT, so not that far from Newington but they all use lots of expensive gear that is not right for me. Looking forward to your other videos!

    Good recommendation by YT. I’ve seen mini PCs in shacks, but usually mini Macs so they can run MacLogger. I just checked out this BMAX and it is very inexpensive. Hopefully we can get a video on how you are using the computer and your logger software. Thanks for posting it. I like the shack!

    great video! I love your comment about the licence. I'm a new ham. into my 70's and was 65 when I got my licence..I want to operate not build. I was an investment banker and what I know of electronics I learned to get the licence. So often when I have a question, the answer is "save your money and just build to" ! That isn't me. I want to get on the air, not spend weeks building stuff that doesn't work. Great job with this video.

    Looks nice! Thanks for sharing. Suggest you consider video surveillance and alarm coverage, if you have not already done so. Nice thing about using the house - it uses the same as alarm that might be installed.

    • @w5fivtexasradio
      @w5fivtexasradio  2 роки тому +2

      The shed was a tool shed when we bought this house and it already had power. It had a table saw and several other power tools that drew quite a few amps. The power was run underground from the house to the shed and directly into the shed by a master electrician. He was the owner's father. The box comes into the shack near the the floor. The breakers are in the house in the garage. I just dressed up that and everything else inside and this could easily pass as a home office. Jim
