Gerry is one of the most underrated singer songwriters he is Scottish,listen to shipyard town,don't give up on me,he had a long standing dispute with his record company,his voice is is so beautiful he has loads of great songs.

Home & Dry was another top 20 hit in The States.
However, Days Gone Down is perhaps the finest song he ever wrote. It was also a hit in The States and is REALLY worthy of a listen.
As others have posted here, Gerry Rafferty was briefly in a British Rock band named Stealer’s Wheel. They had one hit single for the Atco Records label, entitled “Stuck In The Middle With You”, in 1972.
There is a music video for the song, but it was made after Gerry Rafferty left the group. When you react to the song, you might be better off reacting to the single itself, or reacting to a lyrics video.
"Home and Dry" is another great song of Gerry's... and I'm pretty sure it is also from the "City to City" album.
His album 'CITY TO cITY' is great. He was with 'Stealer's Wheel' before that. From what little I know of his work, 'Family Tree' was his personal favorite.
