+Nancy Spilberg He really is an amazing human being. Please visit THE LAST PIG at indiegogo dot com. We're raising funds to finish the film. Thanks for caring!
Here is a pig farmer raising pigs in a humane way. As a girl in Iowa in the early 60's, I watched a friends' father raise pigs humanely. I respect and admire this farmer for taking his responsibility farther with deciding he no longer wants to be responsible for their deaths. Bravo!
Anyone who has been fortunate to spend some time around a pig will jump up and cheer at this upcoming film. Intelligent and gregarious, these emotive creatures have historically been the most abused animal on this planet. I've personally witnessed the horrors perpetrated upon them on a grand industrial scale (Circle 4 Farms, Milford, Utah). But I've also become aware of a kindness towards them that has taken root (Ironwood Pig Sanctuary). Hopefully this film will add to and aid in the abolitionist movement to halt the slaughter of these animals. Their time has come!
It's a shame that in this world everything has to live off of something else, to stay alive. At least these pigs get to live the way they should before they're killed for food. Factory farming should be completely out lawed.
Yeah, we can live off the plants that the earth is giving us... No need to enslave and kill other sentient beings. So much plant food is wasted because it is just fed to "livestock". There are more sustainable ways (animal agriculture is a huge contributor to global warming, look it up) than eating animals, whether they are raised "humanely" or not.
I went to your website and see you still need funding. Or is there a potential release date? The music is beautiful and heart wrenching. Bravo to Argo films for taking a chance on this film.
+Amy Restivo Yes, we're still in need of funding, but we're getting there. Check out The Last Pig dot com -- or find us on Facebook (the last pig). Thanks for the bravo -- it really is a leap of faith to make an indie film, but it's hard not to leap when you believe in the story! Visit us on Indiegogo if you want to join the herd! Thanks again...
+Sarah Steckler (FitCupcake) Thank you, Sarah! Please help spread the word about the film if you're able. You can find it on Facebook (with all sorts of inspiring posts) and on our website at The Last Pig dot com. We also have an Indiegogo campaign in full swing if you feel inspired :) Thanks again for caring!! Allison

+davyon johnson You said _"I think This Animal Movie about Pigs is about Livestock Animal Rights"_. Then you said to me _"GO Vegan"_, why would you tell me that? Your asking me questions like _"The Pig is Also Intelligent Sensitive Brave Clean & Smart Right?"_ Why are you wanting me to confirm this?
We're finishing the edit now in order to submit to film festivals. We hope to distribute the film in early 2017. Please visit our website: www.thelastpig.com and like us on Facebook!
I certainly feel the struggle this man is going through. And anyone that doesn't feel comfortable about killing these animals for food and make the decision not to do so I would guess shouldn't if it bothers them so much. My concern is not the consumption of these or any other animal. It is how most animals raised for consumption are treated while they are alive. There is no excuse not to treat them humanly and dispatch them as humanly as possible. But they are a food source. We can watch any time how animals are horribly treated. Our weak laws do very little to stop cruelty to animals. Anymore than they do for cruelty to humans. People that don't want to kill or eat animals for food shouldn't. But people that do should be able to too. I would love to have a poll taken of people (vegans) that support this film that have no problem with aborting a baby.
+InfamousCrimes Embryo's have souls. Pigs don't. From the instant a baby is conceive they have an immortal soul. And when you see a body laying on a table fully developed with a body a head arms and legs, completely human that is not an embryo or a fetus you ignorant moron. That is a murdered baby. And 99% of abortions are way past the "embryo" stage.
+Corey Aasen Agreed. And you should definitely not eat meat if that is your feelings. You like me have our choices and we can only do what we feel our conscious allows us but that also means the choices we pick in our diet should not be deemed the right way to live for everyone.
Animals are not food and they have souls ..just because they don´t shop doesn´t make them less worthy. And by the why who are to judge what they are or not?
Our globally collective concern needs to be that animals are raised to be killed for human consumption. It's not only barbaric to slaughter innocent beings, but animal products are totally unnecessary in the human diet. In other words, we CHOOSE to cause and fund animal suffering if we choose to eat meat, eggs and dairy. It's time we moved into a kinder world and released our old-fashioned, horrific habit.
why do some people give human emotions to animals. if I die in my home my best friend (dog) will eat me in three days. I hear stories of farmers falling down in pig pens breaking legs or neck n their pigs eat them. as far as I am concerned a pig should hav one bad day, after that it's bacon time.
Pigs are more intelligent than dogs, so if we think dogs lives have value beyond being unhealthy food for us, then there is no reason we shouldn't extend that logic to other living beings like pigs. Also, those stories are not true, pigs wouldn't do that unless they were starving to death and were being severely mistreated. All animals have the ability to experience happiness, fear, pain and suffering, and loss. Isn't that enough to let them keep their lives?
Who says emotion x is a "human" emotion? You are aware that science has been shifting our views on animal consciousness, right? Or are you stuck in the 18th century thinking of animals as some kind of organic machine?! If you are so proud of your supposed human superiority, why not make the most of it and evolve morally..?
You give anecdotal evidence of a few instances to make your whole argument Neil. If we were to compare instances over the course of time, of which species did by far the most senseless killings it wouldn't even be a contest. If you need to cherry pick a few instances, and can recognize this is what you're doing, then maybe you would understand. Open your mind perhaps instead of immediately becoming defensive to a position? Someone once offered that to me, and it saved my life as I had a similar defensive reaction to a problem that was going to hurt me, so I'm just speaking from experience, that's all. I'm not a know it all, but like this gentleman the same thing happened to me. We can make assumptions about other life, but we don't know for sure. We are learning more an more about these animals. Take the time to watch, spend time looking into the eyes of this living creature. Neil, and most pigs since factory farming has developed have no good days, it's not one bad day. Look up how they are made to live. This guy's was doing it far more humanely, but even in doing so he changed, because of what he was living every day, and what he saw and felt. Anecdotal evidence doesn't dismiss this. Give it a chance, keep an open mind, it's good for the well being and future of the soul when we learn empathy and compassion. Thanks Neil.
Your neighbor would eat you in three days. (Read about it: Alive: The Story of the Andes Survivors” by Piers Paul Read.) Your neighbor might say "Yum, Yum. Savory Soto".
The music alone makes me teary. What a phenomenal man.

This is so sad, all animals have emotions they get attached to their care takers.🥲
When people start to wonder and question, change might happen

Eu choro com tanta maldade aos animais. Senhor até quando
Quando l uomo capirà che gli animali hanno gli stessi diritti e dignità dell umano?
