- Last year Diane Abbott was suspended from the Labor Party over a letter that, downplayed racism against Jewish people. Yesterday the Times broke the story that she had been barred from standing as a Labour MP at the general election, a claim that Labour Leader Keir Starmer has denied.
Diane Abbott says she intends to stand to be an MP at the General Election by 'any means possible' after saying she was barred from standing for the Labour Party.

The obvious thing to do is allow Diane Abbott to stand as a Labour MP and be elected. She can then be safely left on the back benches but with the control of the whip. The story will die. Sadly for Ms Abbott, her legacy will now be mired in a messy end which simply didn't need to have happened.
Yeah this is what's going to mire her legacy. Not the comments on chairman Mao doing more good than harm, not the 10,000 police officers blunder, not the fact that she wears two left shoes. It's a wonder she has lasted this long.
Her legacy will always be the first black female MP to be elected. Her legacy will also be that her constituency elected her time and time again, by whopping majorities.
Would that constituency be mostly black and ethnic minorities? Let’s not remember someone because they were the first, or because tribal politics kept them there….. let’s remember her on her great achievements………………… insert tumbleweeds and comedy skit showing all her blunders and weird rants

Stalin got to become leader of the Bolshevik party by first pretending to be an ally of the party leadership, then lied and plotted to become leader. Finally he then purged the party of anyone he saw as a threat to his power or disagreed with his dictacts. Sound familiar ??

What is making Labour highly unelectable is purging left-wing candidates, who truly care about their constituents more than about money and power. This recent behaviour has turned me off. And I doubt I’ll be the only one.
Starmer didn’t have to do anything to “make the party electable”. It’s a false pretence. The high dissatisfaction with the Tories meant they are able to come to power in any case.
