I KNEW there had to be someone that knew how to hack volumizing your hair without heat tools and just using clips. I love that little detail of a jaw clip versus the duck clip. Because as a fine hair girl, obviously showing the scalp defeats the whole purpose, and the jaw clip tip is a logical life changer. Tysm!!
It took me a LOT of experimentation before stumbling upon the idea of using little claw clips at the root! Those metal ones ALWAYS snagged my hair & I was getting a lot of breakage from it. I know this video is going to be a game changer for a lot of people! No one talks about it that much
The metal ones work great for pin curls and holding rollers in place but even then they snag if you’re not careful. I’m hoping this reaches the people who are struggling and need this information. The idea for the format of the video (do this not this) came form you so thank you for that!
@@CurlyChelle547: is it okay to use another alligator clip on the other side of the hair so that both sides will get the puff they need? I noticed you only use 1 alligator clip on your left side of the head.
Wow, this definitely is a game changer!! I happen to have bought the same clips in various sizes but needed a good technique. I can't wait to try this on my next wash day. Thank you so much!!
This saved me so much time and tears! I’ve been learning to recreate my curl pattern for almost 3 years after years of heat damage. This has been a game changer
Omg do you have some of the most beautiful, curly healthy long hair I’ve ever seen! I am a former hairdresser, and I watch lots of hair videos, but your hair is a rockstar, and so are you!
Best tutorial ever. You hit the part about separation which is why my hair always looked sparse when I would clip. You could see my scalp and the partings I had made to clip the roots.
saved my life !!! i have thick wavy/curly hair and as i’m growing it out more it’s been getting even thicker and even flatter at the roots. so doing this after every shower has helped volumize my hair so much❤️❤️❤️
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I’m a newbie (finally embracing my curls at 63!) and have tried using the metal clips you showed with zero success. I just used the claw clips as you suggested and my hair is full and curly! ❤️
Your hair is BEAUTIFUL and this is one of the most helpful videos I have found!! My hair is "white" at the roots (colored purple on the lengths) and fine 2A/B so those scalp lines drive me crazy....my grey hair makes it look like I am balder than I am. So excited to try this. Thank you!!
This is a game changer for someone like me who has just starting doing the CGM! I have splits along my part and lots of sclap showing. I am on second day hair and will dig out all my clips and do exactly how you showed us! Thank you so much!
Thank you so much, this is exactly what i needed to know. I'm a man with long curly hair, and I'm still learning how to "control" it. Your tutorial was very useful
Thank you so much for your video. I have fine low density curly hair and always have to struggle to cover the separation lines that happen after I've diffused. I'm about to buy some of the claw clips! BTW you have such beautiful hair.
Thank you so much for your video. I'm and older lady with fine low density hair. I will definitely try the claw clips. By the way, you have such beautiful hair!
Thanks! I always hated root clipping for the reasons you mentioned but am looking for ways to create root volume, so I’ll think about buying some claw clips. I always felt like root clipping exposed small areas of my scalp, which is the opposite of what I want.
I just ordered a bunch of claw clips and then your video was recommended and you remind me of my sister. ^^ Thanks for the tips that I wouldn't have thought of. For years I have basically flipped my hair all over while drying it and let it get really frizzy just to get volume in the roots and then I'd have to spray the ends and to fix the curls. So basically my hair would have to dry twice to style it. I've been learning so much from UA-cam on how to save time with my hair!!
Your hair is so beautiful! I first used the metal clips but agree they get tangled and pull. I have also tried the Curl Keeper clips, they are pretty good but my favorite are the small claw clips. I’ll use your tips to help not get the separation lines, my hair likes to separate and I have a horrible cowlick in the back. BTW, love your nails!
Yeah, I had bought the Deva clips, kind of wished I hadn't. I used them a few times & learned from other UA-cam curly/wavy girls, that claw clips are a lot better. So that's what I do now.
I had good results with the double pronged metal clips and mostly air drying for years, but always had to remove them very carefully to avoid hair damage. I recently started using medium sized plastic claw clips and they work quite well most of the time. You have some sensible techniques for clipping, I'll try them next time I try clipping my hair, hopefully that will work out better than the last time I tried this, which was overall a disaster. 🙃 (Doesn't help that I need a haircut badly and I may have used the wrong products in my hair this time around. 😉 ) Thanks for the video!
@@CurlyChelle547 Your trick for clipping the crown did work for me, my hair came out great this time. Same products, I think last time my hair wasn't wet enough to distribute the products properly, cause I was in a hurry

Just started watching your videos recently you are a wealth of knowledge thanks for all the information I'm still transitioning my hair started June 2021 finally now it starting to get wavy after not knowing I had wavy hair since 8th grade or so I'm 46 loads of heat damage from flat iron but that mostly gone had to stop the video to say I love the ideal of the huge claw clip I do an off center part not really side part or in middle and I have hair loss in one part of my root section towards back I style to cover it but it doesn't always stay covered it separates some times this would really help that I think and give my flat straight roots some lift I have waves that start above my ears and dense hair
I bought the curl keeper ones & hardly use them. I use a combo of the mini (not the crazy tiny 1/2cm ones) that are about as wide as my ring finger & the small ones that are a bit wider than my thumb. It works best for me around 80% dry
I I came across this video by mistake and I was not disappointed, it’s amazing the things we can do with hair!! Your hair got THICK! P.S I was watching hair wash day prior to this, I have 4C afro hair 😅
Welcome to my channel! I’m glad the video didn’t disappoint! Yeah, I have a lot of hair, it doesn’t look like much when wet though. Thank you for watching!
Thank you definitely going to try this, however I’ve always put my hair into a tight braid because whenever I let my hair air dry it gets really frizzy so im afraid that will happen to me trying this technique, so are there any products that you recommend to prevent that? I’ve tried hair mousse and multiple leave in conditioners but that’s really it honestly
