I cross posted the reddit Horse Stance Motivational Month thread in the forum earlier. Have a look if you have the time. Also there's a question feet turned out versus feet forward and its effects on the knees which you might be able to clear up or have some insight on.
Hi Emmet! great content, I always wish that you have a microphone, for non native english speaker it always gets a little harder to understand english, and it's worst when the audio quality is not that good. Anyway it worth playing the video 2 or 3 times until I get all what you said.
Hey @Emmet Louis I've been up to the horse stance challenge routine posted on reddit long ago. I also come to practice wushu where posture on the stances is a must, however it seems like I'm made of wood and so my flexibility is a shame and when I recently posted on the Form Check thread on reddit r/flexibility/ I got a correction on my back posture. So I've some questions. When doing the horse stance should I have any pelvic tilt or should I focus on keeping my back straight? If it shall be straight, should I go up a little bit in order to be able to achieve it? Now regarding the sport, would it be a good approach, stop for a while the wushu focused work and just work on my flexibility? I mean, I'm really stiff and I struggle to do every basic movements that require side split flexibility(ma bu, pu bu, side kicks)
The criteria for the Wushu stances can be different to what we're using here. Try this, find Tom Merricks latest video on side splits pnf and try combine the exercises there with your horse stance.
How often can you perform these loaded stretches? I've been doing a single set of loaded pike stretch every day for maybe a week now, and I'm beginning to feel uncomfortable. No real progress in ROM either. What is the problem?
Hey Emmet: nice. Post this on the Forums, if you have not already; it's an excellent routine. cheers, KL

Emmet Louis Can you link to this question; I just looked through the thread and could not find it. Cheers, KL

Hi Emmet, can i use dumbells instead of kettlebells?
Dumbells are fine any form of resistance should work for this.
