Thank you so much for posting your videos. Please do make a video for the pre-requisites. As a stiff inflexible guy, I'd love to follow a program to meet the pre-reqs and then on to the head to knee range.
Thanks for your videos! I watched your entire channel in 2 days. Really helpful stuff. I am just wondering where did you got all this movement related knowledge?
+Jakub Kowalski I've essentially been doing some form of movement practice since I was a young age. There's been alot of self study, courses and various teachers in different disciplines over the years.
What do you think of this kind of head to toe assessment versus a standing pike assessment (or maybe something else)? What are the pros and cons of the different types of posterior chain flexibility assessments?
Sorry only seen this comment today. Assessments should be tailored to what the desired end goal of the training is. So if some one wanted to pike press to hs than the standing and seated pike would be the mobility assessment then if we used the routine above we'd need to keep referring back to the pike tests to make sure there was a carry over for the person
What would be the best way to get both the front splits and the pancake? Would 1 set of front split isometrics every other day in addition to 3 sets of straddle good mornings 2-3 times per week be too much?
Is the ankle stretch alone a good daily protocol to sort out chronically tight ankles. Should I work ankles daily or adopt a more infrequent approach. K.L stretch routines are once or twice a week. Can ankles be done daily or should they be one or twice a week as well? I’ve never had any success in improving my ankle ROM.
Hey Emmet! Quick question about the prerequisites: how do you test them? I mean, you can ask someone to do a Standing Pike and see if he can do it pretty easily, but how do you deal with 25% BW J-Curl? Do you ask him the same way to just do it (even if it’s his first time) or is it mandatory to take some time to slowly progress to 25% BW first? Thank you for your answer!
Most people will be able to do the 25% bodyweight J curl first time. What I was trying to get at is I wanted people to have done it consistently for a period of time so they'd gotten a lot of flexibility benefits from that before moving on this intense program.
Hi +Emmet Louis , I'm just 12 so even though I can do some JCs with 25% bodyweight and easily do a palm to floor pike, I'm worried doing a lot of JCs can hurt me. Is it alright if I progress to the head to toe without 5x10 JCs?
Not what you want to hear but I don't recommend this type of stretching for people under 16. I don't recommend any load stretching unless under direct supervision. At your age normal static stretching and dynamic stretching will get you all the results you want trust me on this.
+Vardaan Bhat I'd consider it safe for people 16 and over possibly 18 same with all loaded stretching as we need to wait for the growth plates to fuse to ensure safety for the bones. Trust me in this I have a lot of experience coaching kids all you need to do is commit to a three year period of static and dynamic stretching and you will be bendier and more flexible than any one who starts training at a later age.
Hi! Regarding to progression in the HtT-video, am I the only one finding opposite elbow to toe easier than same side? Anyways, three days in and I already seeing nice progress. Today was fist+thumb to head. New pr for me :-)
+Tobias Åkeblom Yeah about 20% of people I've found find the opposite side easier than same side. Make sure to achieve the same side though before going on otherwise you'll hit the wall and have to go back.
Judge for yourself. I cycle most people's flexibility methods every 6 weeks but some need more and some need less. The average time to get h2t if you have good prerequisites is under 28 days
Hi Emmet! Thanks for the video, it helps a lot. When you say "give it 28 days", do you mean the initial 14 days plus 14 extra days? Because when you came in Paris in November, I remember you saying something like "14 days on and then rest 14 days". Anyway, thanks for your help. And Happy New Year!
Emmet Louis Just wanted to thank you. Because I started the protocol on December 31 and achieved the Head To Toe yesterday evening. It’s crazy. Never thought it was possible. I’ll tell Jo or Edward to share a picture on Instagram as soon as possible. In the meantime, I’m gonna try to go all the way to 28 days and see how it goes. Thanks again. You’re the man.
Emmet Louis Thank you very much! However, something weird happened yesterday during my second set... Head To Toe was achieved without much effort on the right side but as the left one was still hard to get (I’ve been "stuck" at 2 fingers for a few days), I pulsed a little bit harder and felt something moving in my left hip joint. For the first time in 16 days I had a bit of a discomfort in the joint (still have it this morning), like a really really small pain and the sensation of being stuck because of some kind of bone block. Is it something you’ve already experienced or heard of? Should I be worried and stop the training for a while?

Thank you for always telling me the truth.

Jakub Kowalski Probably from someone who wasn't great or brave enough to share it.. : P

It'll help but probably won't be the be all and end all

Understood. Thanks!
What's the name of the forum. I can't find it. Maybe add it in the description if it still exists.
Can you do a video on basic splits? I've made some great gains on elbow to toe, but my splits are terrible!
maybe i missed it somewhere but how long do we do the prerequisites for?

+Emmet Louis Do you mean you don't recommend ballistic stretching from the head to toe video? That's not loaded, is it?
+Emmet Louis Really sorry to disturb you, but I'm just curious, does your head to toe stretching video qualify as dynamic stretching/safe stretching?
+Vardaan Bhat I'd consider it safe for people 16 and over possibly 18 same with all loaded stretching as we need to wait for the growth plates to fuse to ensure safety for the bones. +Vardaan Bhat the head to toe comes under the category of ballistic stretching not dynamic
the 3x90s calf stretches, is that 3 sets of the 3 different positions for each leg or simply 1 set of the three different positions for 90s?. thx
+Vatoloco441 One set of each position

Same side achieved after three days. Left side already on the morning pulses. Now I go after foot+fist to head.
seems like a plan, send me a photo when you achieve it
thank you for this!
I might have missed it, but for how long does this program last? Should I keep on going till I reach head to toe?
Judge for yourself. I cycle most people's flexibility methods every 6 weeks but some need more and some need less. The average time to get h2t if you have good prerequisites is under 28 days
+Emmet Louis Alright. Thanks for quick and good reply!
Can I go for more than 28 days?
+Johan Bergdahl You can go as long as you feel you're getting benefit for it. the 28 days is just a suggestion on how to build the habit.
Ok great thanks! :) Becuase I'd like to simultaneously work on paused front squats and build a solid strang lower body

I think it paris I would of said do it for 4 weeks then rest two and repeat if needed.
Emmet Louis My mistake then. Thanks!

حارث الحافظ No, it's just right!
