sweet !! That is really cool love the breakdown of the hippocampus index , 🔥🔥🔥🔥, Love it coincidence receptor, haha!! So what's is the most effective way to strengthen the hippocampal neurons for a specific episodic memories? Apart from repetition which is 💤💤 ?
Thanks, I am glad you enjoyed the video! @chanel Tink Gave provided an excellent explanation! I hope that answers your question. What you will find out in our next video also is the key role of dopamine in Long-term potentiation. Dopamine is the reward signal for memories being novel and exciting. It acts as a memory modulator, therefore, helping you to remember things if the thing you are learning is new and exciting. This is why I would assume strong episodic memories are formed since you can't really practice repetition with eventful memories (thus relying on novelty to initiate LTP). Especially because most events when you remember them for the second time you actually change the memory to the last time you remembered it. This was actually really interesting and I recommend you search it up!
Interesting, if I do a moderate workout after studying I can consolidate better I like that, I can do moderate rehab circuits after studying I test it out !! #selfappointtedguineapig
@@BioBrainBuddies thank you for your reply, brain requires creativity to excite it seems to bring the best out of it, it would be great to have a way of learn that mimicks the level of dopamine in the body when your remembering repetetitive tasks!!! Or event, but yes will look into it appreciate it
Neat. I am having my hippocampus laser ablated next week and I am so scared about what my memory will function like/or not function like after surgery. I am making videos to share the process if anyone is interested personally...
simple yet finely structured narration, beautiful voice (!), and simple easy to follow animations and schemes. thank you so much for this and ur last video(LTP) :DD
my wife was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2010 at age 59 and is still living in nursing home, mute, completely unaware of her surroundings and immobile bed-bound.... but she can swallow and manage her airway, has to be spoon fed by caregivers and but maintains basic homeostasis. in 2010 her csf showed the expected elevated tau and low amyloid, her MR was diagnostic for "marked hypoperfusion in the frontoparietal and posterior cingulate gyri". they call it the long good-bye, yes very very long in an otherwise totally healthy non-smoker as she was.
I am not sure there are many studies suggesting increasing hippocampus size. There is one paper I just found from 2011 which suggest physical exercise helped increase by 2% and helps maintain size and function during late adulthood when otherwise the functions decrese slightly. Hope that helps
Thank you. This is great. Is there a video thst can show how to activate and stimulate this part of the brain. And show how the memory differs in the Hippocampus compared the Basal Ganglia. Thank you! May your channel grow with such great content
Thank you for watching! Interesting thought yeh I can definitely look into it for our next video. It's been a while as we have been quite busy with other things but more videos will come soon!
We really want to continue doing videos! At the moment both of us are quite busy pursing our careers so its been quite hard to keep making videos but its still a passion of our to keep building up this channel just is taking some time!
I liked your explanation. I want to suggest that you should introduce/describe whatever thing being talked about as its first appearance. Like CA1234 thing could have been described earlier.
Great to watch.....first time through this video I came to known about the full form of CA neuronal cell bodies.....i also tried to make one tutorial session on memery & neuroplasticity....in my channel... 🙏
Hey, Thanks for watching! One latest research I have read is that intermittent fasting has been shown to increase the Neurogenesis of hippocampal neurons. This seems to happen as when in fasted fast the body needs to use its resources to hunt and be alter and remember things better instead of just relaxing. Hope that helps! If you like the video please subscribe and share the video! We are a up and coming channel and it would help us out alot
wow this was very informative!! i dint knew my brain is carrying so much stuff 😅 and especially i dint knew that the word hippocampus came from seahorse 😲. excellent work with the graphics and voice 👏🏻👏🏻 can't wait for the next one😁
Why, of all things, did you choose playing the piano as an exemplar of an episodic memory? This is a fine example of a basal ganglia-mediated skill, which interestingly is well preserved in Clive Waring, who is densely amnestic due to hippocampal damage arising from herpes encephalitis. .
Piano playing was an example was procedural memory not episodic. It is a main example because of the case study on HM showed he was still able to play the piano even after the removal of the hippocampus.
Does the brain have a universal way to "code" or store information? If i see a cat for the first time, and someone tells me it is a cat, does the brain have a universal way to store this type of information? With the advance in science why people are not trying to decode the brain, it doesn't have to be everything, just how one piece of information is stored and processed at a time.
Yeh you just won't be able to remember new things like the case study HM who could remember things that he learnt before but can't form new memories after his hippocampus was removed
