Lukather has literally played with EVERYONE in the business!!! What a legend and a guitar hero!!! And he tells it like it is!!!
Steve is one of those guys that just tells it like it is. Gotta love him!
I was just thinking the same thing.
Yeah but the poor interviewer barely got to talk! lol
I wish he'd quit drinking. It's really aging him.
@@15scottie Saw another interview with him recently where he said he's now sober. Realized he had a problem when he woke up with a hangover, went to the fridge in the garage to hit a bottle of vodka to ward off the hangover. Wife (now ex-wife) confronted him, he said was going to quit for good. Said he hasn't had a drink since, even though that marriage ended in divorce.
@@15scottie he’s been sober for about 10 years m8
Steve is on my shortlist as one of the best guitarists/musicians of all-time. Love him.
Steve is so humble and wonderful. Consumate musician and great guy.
Well he's not humble in the least, but he is a great musician and a monster guitarist. A true legend.
There is no TOTO without Luke !
…. Or JEFF !
He looks like he's been changing the oil on his car! On a diff note: His book, The Gospel, According to Luke, is really good! I love to read the writing of the musicians! Don Felder, Richard Marx, and Art Garfunkel. Oh yeah, Kenny Loggins!!
I love Toto and appreciate that they go on making great music and rocking out live.
Love Luke and Toto. Real music never dies
I Love this guy, his guitar and pen game are second to none. Brilliant musician as all of the TOTO members were!!
I love Toto, but I’d also go to hear Steve Lukather and his band. Bring it on Steve.
The trademark stuff is ridiculous! You’re fans love you and know who you are and love all your music! The new band is great! Keep rocking Steve!
Thank you so much. I was in High school in 1982 to 1983 and We song those songs. And even performed some of them. I miss the sound and energy. Just listening to it. made me feel like I was 40 years younger. Thank you for letting me know more about behind the scenes. I am now a travel agent, and I am planning an 80's and 90's Charity Cruise. OMD what information. Thank you so much.
Nice interview! This guy is a rocker and enjoys what he does. Plus, he’s just damn good. Can’t wait to see him on the road....sooner rather than later!
What a cool dude!! He deserves the best cause he’s worked his ass off for a very long time! Great video!
Steve and I are both born 1957. He knows as well as anyone that life has wins and losses. We love Toto and Luke. Fans are like friends-You cannot go out and get OLD FRIENDS. 👊🙏👍
Gotta love steve and his fuck it attitude .and he's the one paying the price ..it's a shame .he sounds like a nice guy and very down to earth .good luck to you steve L ..u deserve it ..hope good things happen for you with this new band !
Just seen Toto in St Louis on the 21rst, they were absolutely incredible. The new band sounds awesome and I was excited to finally get to see them. Check them out they are finishing the Journey tour in place of Billy Idol.
Steve is awesome!!! Met Steve at the Namm show a few years ago. We chatted for about 30 mins.
Loved this mans guitar playing since High School. Steve is chill. Would love to share a stage with him someday!
My favorite guitar player of ALL TIME. All consuming HATRED has been dismantling world for years now. It pretty much started with destroying Michael Jackson years ago. Seriously ... There are people who love and create, and then there's people who HATE. Unfortunately anyone making an effort to do good in this world is being torn down by EVIL. Just glad that I'm older, and have all those beautiful memories of when days were good. That's all we have now. Memories. I can literally watch 'I'll be over you' 35th Anniversary performance 1000 times,, and cry every time. That was almost 10 years ago. Steve looks like absolute hell. Maybe it's time for him to join Huey Lewis, and just move to middle of nowhere to enjoy whatever time he has left. Obviously all this is wearing him down. My heart aches for all the amazing, creative and good people of this world. There is so much hate and fighting, it's unbearable. May God bless this man, no matter what.
Steve is amazing, met him and the other guys in Houston and Cali. Steve and David talked with me like we were friends which was incredible to me and my Sister. Very sad that some people only live for themselves and have done so much damage to the Toto members and name. I don't think that is what Jeff or Michael would have wanted. God bless Steve and the rest of the guys.
I love your music Steve!!!!! Love TOTO❤️❤️❤️
Luke still rules! Love his attitude and his outlook. Keep your focus Steve, God needs you in his band!
Just keep rockin Steve!!! U were a BIG reason for the success of "toto" n I still wuld rather hear the ones u sang on than the shit ur hear now!!
Just watched TOTO blow Journey away in Minnesota on 3.14.22... Phenomenal show! So thankful to see them!
Journey will never be the same without Steve Perry!
@@tomvincent7167 Agreed, but after 15 years Arnel has and continue to do a GREAT job, but it is not Perry, that is for sure.
Great interview of a phenomenal talent. If you haven’t done so already, pick up by Steve Lukather’s book “The Gospel According To Luke”. But even better get the audiobook. Steve reads it and it’s absolutely fascinating and interesting all the people he’s performed with and albums he’s played on. I’ve listened to it 3 times already.
Man, by the looks of Steve's hands it looks like he was working on a carburetor before he was called in to do this interview.
Steve makes me so grateful to be part of the human tribe they call "Musician"...
God I hope he is healthy..One of my Guitar heroes.
Live long and keep rocking Steve!
Great interview Jeremy!
If you want to interview Steve, don't prepare for different questions. Just say hello and prepare to listen.
Wow ! Can’t wait to see Sput playing behind a new incarnation of TOTO ! 🤪👍🎶
At this Time the World needs Toto more than ever..hope they come back...
To prove the guys can play!!! Love it!!
Definitely my favorite guitar style
Hero
I hope today finds you well in all ways! I thank you for all of your hard work that has brought me so much enjoyment over the years! You are truly a legend!
I love how he just talks and talks…what a treasure
One of my fav guitarists. Ive never met him,but we have a mutual friend and I hear he's as cool and down to earth a person as he is an amazing player. Hopefully one day !
One of the BEST!! 🎸
Steve Lukather and Neil Schon are my all time favs! Also, inspire/d my playing. 🎵
LEGEND✊🏼
very nice guy. signed an album for me when I saw him in Atlantic City.
@@cpaman28 that’s awesome man!
Steve is awesome. Met him at the Namm show a few years ago. We chatted for 30 mins. Wonderful. Joking too.
@@eddynewton4081 that's so awesome. Congrats on that.
Literally met him today. He was cool AF.
La & Che
“Live Bullet” from 1976 is a must listen to… it is Bob & The Silver Bullet Band at its finest!
Such a great player and a great guy. Lawyers fuck up the world with greed.
One of my Favorite musicians ever. Hope he can get over these latest hurdles and stop being so negative and SMILE more. I understand why but the cranky old man thing needs to fade out.
Steve and David you are TOTO we love you
You should win the suit against Bieber though - Alone is a direct rip off of Goin' Home
I appreciate Luke's transparency on navigating the difficulties of running a legendary super band in its twilight years. Sure, its easy for the critics and haters to drop 'coulda woulda shoulda' opinions on the questionable business decisions made by Toto members during their prime years. But the truth of the matter is regardless of the occupation, when you are young and spry things like protecting your intellectual property and investing for the future are often an afterthought. This is especially true for those whose occupation is in the musical entertainment industry.
Very true. What guy in his early 20's thinks of hiring a good lawyer to protect his interests regarding getting into a band. You have no idea whether you'll ever be successful and the primary reason is you have no money at that age! It's later on when you're older and wiser you realize you were screwed out of millions.
Ya’ gotta love those Porcaro wives 🤨 As the ol’ saying goes, “She’s breaking up the band.”
Totos is Steve Lukather! Great interview
Please come to the UK Steve 🙏
"They tell me I had a great time" 😂 Luke's awsome.
I love this guy, he’s so straight forward. I love his directness! So I like David Paich! I am looking forward to their music!
Agreed! Hope ya subscribe :)
@@JeremyWhiteShow I just did!
One of the 20 greatest guitarists ever. I love how he just doesn't give a shit anymore and just does what he wants to do. Good for him!! He's earned it!!
Was he working on his cars before the interview? 😆
I was wondering the same thing!? LOL
Warren Hamm, wow, haven't heard his name in awhile. Did some work with Kerry Livgren on his AD projects.
Steve is such a down-to-earth guy
lol
I'm a huge fan of Luke. He's one of my two favorite guitarists right now, and seems like a guy with his head on straight.
Such a cool guy!
The Holy Shit years ! Lmfao 🤣🤣🤣 What a legend !
Love Steve, love his signature guitar I own from music man. But, what’s up with his black and blue fingers?
Great musician and human
Love the Luke!
Stay strong Mr Steve. Think of what Bunny Wailer said. Never give up fighting. Stay fit
Lucky people show up? Seriously? Dude, you are one of the greatest players of all time, and certainly at the top of the list for session players! You wrote and played what many regard as the greatest guitar solo ever recorded, on Rosanna. And yes, you are still alive! Keep playing as long as you can!!!
Steve must be very very bitter, understandably so.
He has worked damned hard in his career, only for someone to take his wallet away from him.
If it's any consolation, i love your work, always have. Loved your stuff with Boz too.
Steve is one of the best ever
Steve, were you workin on the car berore the interview or what? Grease under your nails and everything!! Great1
The holy shit years! They tell me I had a great time! Love it!
Met Steve back stage at a Toto concert told me the interesting story how he got his scar...lol
Toto has and always will be Steve Lukather's band!
I agree…
How could Steve NOT own the Toto name??? I've been a fan since the first album!!! This is the first time I'm hearing about this!!!
There's a vague reference on the Toto Wiki page to the effect that Jeff Porcaro's widow sued them, but no specifics about what's going on.
It was split between Jeff’s widow, David Paich and Luke.
As members left the band, Steve Porcaro, David Hungate, Bobby Kimball etc they sold their shares back to the remaining original members.
Sounds the same thing that happened to Little River Band, they had their name taken from them by the American version of LRB. The Australian LRB was the original line up
They sold their rights to the name.
@@Lance37a hmmm no they didn’t. It was a deal with band members that who ever was with the band could use the name. So they ended with 2 members playing in America using the LRB name. The original members can’t use the name
Not the same.
It just happened that Jeff’s share went to his widow when he died.
Luke and Paich still retained their shares.
man... steve its useless talkin about all this ! man you just listen to the solo he made for chicago ! "hard to say i'm sorry" ! and you get this guy lol ! one of the greatest guitar player in the whole world ! and all he played before and since !
"They tell me I had a great time!" (Line of the year!)😂
Luke, wash your hands and nails 😅 Legend!!
Yeah no kidding
If you like Steve here, I highly recommend his book. It's interesting and super funny.
F*** i love Luke.. My first guitar hero and he will always be THE musician for me. Dudes done it all, can do it all, and still doing it. Life as musicians is ruff man. If you ain’t walking out practically naked on stage, sexualizing the whole thing, it’s hard earning money the real way, by just being a really good musician and entertainer.
Steve , you are immortal !
What is Steve changing the oil on lol
I love steve and the band but I want to know does he do a lot of work with his Xerox or does he do etchings because his fingers look like they have been in ink and I’m just curious whats that’s about?
Can you say “King Steve”…🎸✊🏼
This guy is just crazy on the guitar, has been since he was like 16, I think everybody knows how many records he is on besides TOTO, EXTRODONARY career and he ain`t done yet, trying to get tickets to see TOTO in Ct May 11 haven`t seen them since like 1979 in Hartford ct.
You absolutely gotta go!! The band is absolutely in top form with some incredible players these days.
With lawyers everybody loses, but the lawyers.
I have to agree with Steve. It’s unfortunate that Jeff and other members have passed. If I may ask, why after all these years does Jeffs wife decided to file a lawsuit? Just to let you know Steve, I’m 71 yrs old and I am for you and your new song is great. May you continue to be the greatest person as you are the musician we all have grown to admire. ... Bob
Yup.... Please subscribe :)
She wants all the money money not the music
@@Jeneral28 Woman.;-)
She was Jeff's wife , not an ex-,wife or a groupie. That can't be overlooked, family comes before even music.
@@waltersimmons946 But after money, it seems.
"I get sued every time I fart." -- should be a t-shirt.
I love Steve. We just saw him in our hometown of Pittsburgh on 2/22/22. He sounded fantastic and of course looked and sounded sexy. I cried thru several of his sad love songs. But Steve, please shave your full beard, your sexiness can't even be seen. LOL!!!! Your face is too handsome and beautiful to cover up. Keep Rocking1111 Your one of the best!!!!
LOL he must have been working on his car before the interview
The hands
It’s raw but real. Hmmmm in other words its a Toto piece of artistic music.
❤❤❤
Steve is such an underrated guitar player. He can flat shred.
Nothing underrated about Luke. Every professional musician and guitar player knows how great he is. One of the most recorded guitar players in the history of music!
@@DreamsongsProductions what I meant was he doesn’t get as much credit for his work from the average music fan. No denying he is a very accomplished guitar player. I love his playing.
@ then dont say hes under rated.
He's NEVER EVER been underrated. Such a moronic comment
The original members of "Little River Band" cannot use their own name when performing. Some other clown has the rights and the paying public are none the wiser!!! No original members in the current US version. Very sad and so unfair.
Our days are numbered by the Almighty Steve praying for ya brother get saved repent trust Jesus as your Savior you will overjoyed and never fear death my friend ...much love and prayer to all of you
❤
Sometimes love will kick your ass
Money....
wow..be careful what you sign regarding contracts.
Luke sound il suono di chitarra piu bello al mondo
a good interviewer never takes over the star
The people who write the songs make the most money. After that, maybe the great vocalists...then the players come third sometimes. Many more players than writers,...etc.
only if they own the publishing & copyrighting... talk to Paul McCartney hes got stories...
was Steve fixing his motorbike engine right before the interview?
i noticed as well...
Luke is TOTO no question end of.
David Paich and the Porcaro brothers are also TOTO.
Luke should have worn rubber gloves when
he dyed his hair!
I thought he was working on a car but you might be right!
I truly love Luke and he is one of my all time musical idols, but it's kinda silly hearing him talking about not being able to afford stuff when he is good for at least $100 million
