  • The new Shoei Neotec II is successor to the original Shoei Neotec flip up helmet, and it just might be the best modular helmet available on the market right now. In this review video we compare the two flagship helmets and discuss the main differences and improvements.

    Shoei Neotec II specifications The Shoei Neotec 2 is the successor to the already extremely popular Shoei Neotec flip up helmet. This state of the art helmet has received a completely fresh upgrade and a few innovative improvements. The Neotec 2 is a flip up helmet that marries comfort and safety with each other, and it’s very suitable for many different styles of riding: from long tours to riding in the city. The handmade outer shell is made from Shoei’s extremely safe and aerodynamic Advanced Integrated Mix. This is a combination of lightweight but exceptionally strong glass fibres. The outer shell is available in three different sizes which ensures that a helmet size ‘small’ doesn’t have the same shape and size as a size ‘extra-large’ (this requires less filler material). The EPS inner shell has a dual density which slows down the motion during an impact. Neotec 2 comfort The fully removable and washable interior of this helmet is very comfortable, 3D pre-shaped, and available in different sizes (cheek pads and centre pads). This way you can always optimize your helmet according to the shape of your head. The finish with leather provides the helmet with a very luxurious appearance. Neotec 2 ventilation and aerodynamics The ventilation has been completely redesigned. The chin bar presents an air intake we have never seen before. The wide opening lets a lot of air in and it is very easy to control with a button in the inside. The top and rear ventilation also have large airways which offer a comfortable airflow and exhaust for the warm air, without the aerodynamics of the helmet being reduced. Two spoilers on the helmet improve the aerodynamics. Seen as there are no gaps in the helmet and due to the fact that the underside of the helmets is extremely compact, the helmet is very quiet and noise resistant. The helmet is nearly fully closed at the underside due to all the new improvements. Neotec 2 communication system They have developed a completely new communication system in cooperation with Sena especially for the Shoei Neotec 2. A small module is placed on the side which does not alter the wearing comfort of the helmet at all. The rear of the helmet offers space for the battery. The microphone and speakers still need to be installed. The renewed visor of the Neotec 2 The patented Shoei CNS-3 visor is another pearl from the new Neotec 2. Very large, very clear and of exceptional quality. When opening the helmet the chin bar moves forward a little, the same happens when you lock the chin back upwards into its top position. This ensures that the visor sucks itself against the rubber and is completely integrated into the helmet. The anti-fog Pinlock EVO lens comes with the helmet and the Shoei Neotec 2 also features an integrated sun visor. The beauty of this sun visor is that it slides over the top of the outer shell and doesn’t interrupt the structure. Last but not least this helmet has a dual homologation (P/J certification) and can be used as an open face helmet as well as a full face helmet. The locking chin strap buckle is made from stainless steel, which is strong enough to withstand large forces.

    I had the Neotec 1 but due to a hit and run which I got hurt bad I went to the Neotec II. Let me say the org Neotec did it's job! The only thing not messed up was my head and face. I had a hard time at 1st going to the II because I loved my Neotec. But now I will say with 100% certainty that the Neotec II is so much better! The wind resistance, air flow and the locking chin strap is amazing and it's quieter and well worth the money. I was also looking at the Schubreth but no matter what the Schubreth would not fit my head.

    Thank you for your reviews, thanks to your videos I managed to make an informed decision, tried several helmets in the shop and left the Shoei Neotec II for last, it was the right one, fits perfectly and it's very comfortable unlike others I tried, but it's all different for everyone, this one seems to be perfect for me. Thank you!

    I own both types so am able to give a good comparison. The Neotec 2 is quieter. Both are very comfortable to wear for long periods. One of the great features is the fact an integral audio/intercom system can be fitted. This is not as comprehensive as some in terms of features, however because it's not stuck out into the airstream...the integrity of the streamlining is not changed at all.... wind noise is not increased. If you only want to listen to music, radio or communicate with a pillion this is the best option. Lastly the Neotec 2 is less bulky, a little narrower profile. I believe the changes have all contributed to a better helmet

    Just got a great deal on a neotec on closeout, so if you don't mind it being a little less cutting edge there are some great deals to be had!

    if you don't know if the vent is open or not whilst riding it isn't much of a vent.

    Great review. However, I hope you were able to add in the review if a Pactalk cardo system can be installed with the neotec 2. I'm just wondering since I seem can't reconcile where to install it on the neotec 2.

    • @FortaMoto
      @FortaMoto  3 роки тому

      Cheers! It should be possible, although it won't be as easy as installing the SRL system. The unit will probably have to placed more to the back of the helmet due to the large plastic panels on the side.

      I agree. This is my only issue with regards to installing my packtalk if I get the neotec 2. In this case, I'm considering getting the neotec 1. My dilemma would be now if neotec 1 is somehow outdated already. Any additional advise will be appreciated. Thanks.

    Great video! Question...I bought a Shoei Neotec last Summer and it only came with the D-Rings. Both of the helmets you reviewed in this video has ratchet straps. Were those added or did they come stock?

    • @FortaMoto
      @FortaMoto  6 років тому +1

      Thank you :). The version of the Neotec I and II which we have in the Netherlands always comes with a ratchet, just like the GT-Air and the J-Cruise. It seems to vary per country if Shoei helmets have ratchets or D-rings. I believe Shoei can replace the retention system to your liking at a price.

    Can I have the thinner 5mm 'centre head lining' for the Neotec 2 at no additional cost OR do I really have to pay nearly £50 more to get the helmet to fit me comfortably? Great vid. Thanks 👍🏻

    • @FortaMoto
      @FortaMoto  6 років тому

      Dear Steven, centre pads are generally quite expensive, and in Shoei's case, of very high quality. It's not possible to replace the centre pad free of charge, in every case a centre pad is a specially ordered item - and not something we have in stock. You could always make an appointment with us for the Shoei Personal Fitting System for €60,- ua-cam.com/video/kT59ylXgphU/v-deo.html&t

    Had a Neotec for over five years, so seriously thinking of buying new. Quite happy with the original Neotec - so this looks like a good replacement. But is that extra weight of the Neotec 2 a real problem?

    • @FortaMoto
      @FortaMoto  6 років тому +1

      It's a matter of tens of grams, so not really.

    • @veekatore8983

      Not at all and once you use it you will be amazed especially how it cuts the wind and is quieter... Also the locking chin strap will make life so much easier..ol

    Is this version of neotec 1 the imminent (1.5?) version? If not, would you recommend 2 over that?

    • @FortaMoto
      @FortaMoto  5 років тому +1

      The Neotec Imminent colour is the same as all the other Neotec 1's. I would definitely recommend the Neotec 2 over the Neotec 1, numerous improvements have been made in the new version, and on top of that the Neotec 1 is no longer in production.

    Despite N2 looks smaller, it has more space inside O_o I've got Large helmet size and tried out both helmets. N1 fitted firmly, but N2 was a bit loose in cheeks :)

    Can a Sena 20S or 30K be installed on the Neotec 2 using the clamp mount?

    • @FortaMoto

      I think that will be tricky

    • @philwalker4156

      Thank you. I'm very interested in making this work so that I can connect earphones, which the Sena SRL doesn't allow. I'd really hate to use the stick-on mount.

    • @FreDCBelgium
      @FreDCBelgium 6 років тому +2

      I just got the helmet and yes it can be mounted but you need to put the clamp a bit more to the back and not in the center like you normaly do.
