The Shanghai Zoo is so old that it looks like a breeding farm, but it is closer to the city center. Maybe you could go to the Shanghai Wild Animal Park, where you can interact more closely with the animals, such as giraffe ring-tailed lemurs, flamingos and so on. But it's far away. It's on the metre line 16.
I would recommend tech museum in Shanghai (and in some other cities). That's very nice place for children . Some things can be checked experimentally - very interesting for children
Welcome to China.I think if you guys like animals, Guangzhou Chimelong Safari Park is a good place to go.by the way Beijing is very suitable for family outings also.
Next time, go up to the hotel lobby, which is on the top floor of the Jin Mao Tower, the most beautiful of the three buildings next to the Shanghai Tower, going up to the hotel lobby is free, and you will be able to see the entire city of Shanghai in the same way that you see it from the Shanghai Tower.
At one point Europe was very underdeveloped especially before and during the Tang Dynasty and china was the zenith of the world so a lot of European systems and cultures are borrowed from their past obsession with everything from China. Read Voltaires description of the Middle Kingdom and you will understand how European population got developed from parts of Chinese culture, especially your current form of governance, the parliamentary system.
