  • Hey newer CW Ops.. ya think you'll freak out when you're in a QSO and your paddles start 'dropping dits' at random? I guess you could scramble for paper and alcohol in the middle of your QSO to clean your contacts.. or you can do this.
You can also skip my story and go to the hint. lol 03:30
    Please note:
All electrical switches, and I mean ALL of them use a 'wiping' motion between the two contacts. This is 'self-cleaning' of contacts. Otherwise, a single speck of dust could prevent electrical closure. Our paddles do not however wipe- and this is why the contacts get 'wonky' so quickly.
    Catch ya later guys...
    Chuck

guys who want to watch how I edit my vids and post them.. I've got a few short files ready to show you how to do the editing on. I'm going to show you how to do a really nice soft transition compared to a hard cut. You'll use both. We'll talk more later, but here's a timestamp for each. The transition will happen about 2 seconds after these stamps start:
    Hard: 03:11
    Soft: 05:08
I'll do that vid this evening after dinner then I want to get on with things- with my new style UNUN talk, testing results, temp measurement together, etc.

I was told by a few Elmer's to use a $1 bill to clean the contacts on the old D104 mikes because it is cloth based paper.

And now I know the trick! Thanks for sharing. I can see that would work just WONDERFUL. Otherwise you first get the right 'feel' for the pressure to apply to the paddle while pulling the paper thru. A tiny bit too much and you tear your papaer, you cuss, and you try again. lol. Thanks! 73 Nick :)

Yes the Dollar bill is great to clean contacts. If you have a Begali paddle it takes a $100 dollar bill to be as effective!

Back in the day when Harleys still had ignition points, It was common practice to adjust the point gap by drawing a dollar bill between them and adjusting for the lightest discernable drag....Pushing the points together against the paper while dragging it through the gap was effective at cleaning the point electrical surface.
What does this have to do with Bencher BY-1's ? Nuthin'. It's just the way I roll.....lol
    Keep on keepin' on Hank.

Guys, I'm SO sorry for the awful video quality. My camera pumping in and out. I'm at wit's end with that thing. Doctor and prescription NIGHTMARES this week have prevented me from getting a new phone. They're trying to kill your dear ol' uncle Blowzo. Not my cardiologist Dr. Hasni - he's amazing. And a complete grin. lol
I'm calling a few lawyers tomorrow.
I generally like lawyers like I like a good broken leg or cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal).
But these maniacs are committing malpractice, and with the right people, taking the psych meds I do, when pushed like this they'll just eat the end of a you-know-what barrel. I can't let this awful, cruel, neglectful, abusive medical practive harm anyone else ever again.
Me, I'd rather fight them and beat them. I know their game better than they do and it's a fight they cannot win. Plus, Well, they can- it's called setting out of court after I sue them for 100 million. At least.
    Be well guys :)

No reason to apologize, its all a part of life. You deal with it and go on, don't look back. That part of your life is in the past, you've got the future to look forward to.

@@nickrupp2336 a thousand 'hearts' for that Nick. Whoa, that one really made me stop what i was doing and sit and look at your comment.. and consider things. i think I've been trying to chase something that I cannot ever catch up to: my past- career and health.. the feeling of social contribution, of actually helping people who were either in a position of confusion or unconsciousness, etc. Of things like actually battling arrogant people who are harming helpless others, things like that. And the other things that are also hard to let go of despite my utter fascination at the time, without letting myself render moral or social judgement; and now.. those very same labs and the dear creatures contained within that gave such utter fascination now causing me untold constant nightmares (last night only 2 of them but quite upsetting).
I must stop looking back with both desire and my current regrets.
Nick, I think my TIA has a LOT (make that bold upper case. lol) to do with my emotional crashing now. Hard to say tho. Maybe not. Maybe I need to do one awful video, give it up, and tell you guys what's so hard for me to come to grips with today from 'back then' medically. I'm afraid that might just change nothing though. Ya know?
Like I said - whoa. lol.
I'm outta here. Old Fart Blog: I'm going out to install the awesome $1.99 Menard's hose repair end. Already bought one, and they work awesome! Two bucks and it's a product that is excellent in design and function. lol.
      Be well friend :)

Brilinta. that is the ass biter for Dad. Without insurance close to $500 a month. He's got damn good insurance (back from when there was damn good insurance) and it's $200 a month. I had to laugh. I have Dr. Bill and he's the same way. "What would you like me to do?" Uh... I'm paying you to answer that question yourself? Okay doc... I want you to set me up with Dr. Kevorkian. Then I say "I dunno man... maybe try "xxxxxxx"?" He says okay that sounds good. LOL! I'm paying money to treat MYSELF! LOL Damn man I understand the battle. I'm arguing for dad with insurance and another predatory company, you may have heard of them... Zoll Medical. Crooks. I'll win. I should have been a lawyer. 73 Sir.
