William Shatner played Kirk spilt by the usual transporter accident into a good and an evil James T Kirk. Literally Two Face. Played that to perfection too.
I'll never forget having a few friends and their kids over. I was showing this to the kids who were all young enough to enjoy it unironically. Their dad who was sheltered and never saw the show before sat and watched the cheesy jokes.
He finally slapped his forehead and declared: "This is where you get your sense of humor!"
Me and one of my friends that knew me longer replied: "You finally get it! Yes!" Then we all laughed.
This show gave us Alfred as a capable badass.

Watched the movie on loop from the discount aisle of walmart. I love this movie. Absolutely a gem, Adam West was my childish hero, his death hit me almost equally to kevin conroy. The animated films should definitely be cover too man. Great actors and writing.
"Bartholomew Adultman", LMAO. When I was 9, in '69 my dad took me to an Autorama in OKC. Adam West and Burt Ward were there at a table by the Batmobile. When I got my chance to meet them, I was disturbed by how hairy Burt Ward's arms were.
When I talked to my dad about it he said, "Of course. For the show they shaved his arms so he would look younger." Innocence shattered. 😂
Batman 1966 was goofy comedy, pure and simple. Delightfully hilarious.
I've never watched the AW/BW series, but I did watch their TV movie "biopic", which is beautifully unhinged and seems to capture the spirit of the original works.
I don't know how common this is, but Adam West is my favorite Batman. I love the campiness of it all. Like you said, it's just fun. I can't help but love it.
The 60s Batman movie was the third time Batman was on the big screen.
There were axsualy 2 old old batman movies before the batman 66 movie
Actually they are not moves they are serial like a television series in the movie theaters even though some free streaming platforms have all the parts spliced together like a 3 hour full length feature
@@kevin10001 They were still technically movies. Each serial chapter is a short film. A theatrical short is still a type of movie. Just not feature length.
The first Batman was played by an Unknown Actor named Lewis Wilson.
Robert Lowery played Batman in the Second Serial. He went on to have a More Substantial Career.
My favorite moment in Return of the Capped Crusader was when Adam West started quoting Michael Keaton and Frank Miller. It was so fulfilling!

I Watched This With My Children, Now With My Grand Children. I Buy Every 2nd Hand Copy I Find To Redistribute To My Friends. I Was A Huge Comic Nerd From The 80's & 90's Especially. But Always Go Back To To 66.
29:07 Actually, a couple of the original villains made for the show guessed right. Egghead used logic to deduce who he was, and King Tut put a tracking device on the Batmobile. Bruce had to do some very fast thinking to throw them off the trail. Near the end of the series King Tut's suspicions were confirmed when he accidentally dug into the Batcave.

I love this movie since I first saw it from a recorded off television version of it as a child in the 90’s to actually getting a standard version and blue-ray version of the movie and it’s soundtrack on cd even though Riddler’s stuntman is clearly visible in some fight scenes it’s still in my opinion the best Batman movie we have gotten yet even though we had 2 movie serials before this movie in theaters in 1943 and 1949 with Batman that are largely forgotten about these days except for me
The 1960s TV show was my introduction to Batman and Robin, I have a difficult time wrapping my mind around the darker versions. Incidentally, mu favorite scene in this movie is the "some days you just can't get rid of a bomb"
The "riddle" they solved was as much a riddle as Alanis's "Ironic" was ironic.
the 66 batman series has a special place in my heart
The 1966 Batman movie was not envisioned as a pilot. The film was initially intended to be filmed and then shown alongside the series as it was airing, but Fox said no, upset because of the costs they would be responsible for 100%. The show was shared between Greenway (producers), ABC-TV (Network), and 20th Century Fox Television (Studio), the movie would be 100% on Fox. Then the show became a monster hit, so it would be then made because it was now seen as cost effective to keep fans craving new content happy, while also selling the series overseas for a bigger market.
One should remember that Batman's first theatrical outing was the first movie serial. Batman: The Movie was his first full movie, though.

Just a little trivia. This was NOT the original Bat Man. The original was in black and white and was boring. Color television was just coming out in the sixties. I was a child at that time and yes it was a treat for a child.

There were 2 Batman movie serials in the 1940s. "Batman" in 1943 & "Batman & Robin" in 1949; both had 15 chapters each.
...I was 10 years old when I saw this. It was a masterpiece back then, it brought my heroes right out of the comic book and onto the big screen and no cliff hangers "Same bat time, same bat channel.". Shark repellent on the utility belt? Best idea ever when you're 10 years old. It wasn't meant to logical just entertaining for kids of the time. "Zowie!, Thwack!, Crunch-eth!" thems fightin words from Batman66!!
The 1966 series was not the first live-action Batman. It was the third. There was a series in 1941 and another in 1949.
In my headcannon the 60's batman is a bunch of lil kids playing batman and were seeing how theyre seeing their game through their imagination

Fun Fact-A Stuntman was almost Killed filming that Big Fight on the Submarine near the end of the Movie. Apparently he dove into the water so hard that he hit his head on the Bottom of the Pool where they were filming and knocked himself unconscious. Fortunately someone noticed he hadn't come up and several of his Colleagues dove back in and brought him back up before he could drown.
I’m always vaguely amused that this silliest of Batmen is also the handsomest.

Two of the most memorable moments of the 1966 movie:
- Watching Batman gut punching a shark biting down on his leg as Robin slowly brings down their convenient can of shark repellent bat-spray.
- "Some days you just can't get rid of a bomb!"
Also, "C for Catwoman"? Why not Clayface, or Calendar Man? Or the conceptual CONDIMENT KING? Yes I know these villains didn't exist in this show's continuity, but that's the joke.

I feel like not enough people realize that the show and movie are incredibly self aware and know exactly what they are doing. The camp wasn't just intentional, but scientifically synthesized to the strongest degree

There’s also the Batman 66 comics DC started to make around the same time as Return Of The Caped Crusaders, which I honestly believe has the most tragic Harley Quinn origin of all time. Joker uses a Ray that scans brain waves to implant his level of sanity into people and drive everyone in Gotham insane, Harley ends up sacrificing herself by plugging herself into the machine and sucking her own sanity out to reverse what he did, woman goes completely coo coo for cocoa puffs and is locked away as just another nut amongst the people she’d been trying to help treat in Arkham, going from a highly intelligent doctor to a barely coherent laughing maniac in an instant
While I get why they didn't continue this film series, since the whole point seemed to be bringing Adam West back to the role,but it's a shame they didn't recast like they did the other actors who'd passed. It would have been interesting to see new villains added, including ones who were introduced later, since they were setting up Harley Quinn. Imagine a Batman '66 Bane or Red Hood. Would have been nice to carry on the legacy.

I enjoyed the series and the Movie it reminded me of a simpler time in years of the past. I was a kid at the time. Batman was my favorite show,
I later liked the show simply because be had no super powers and yet saved the day.
To this day Batman is still my favorite.
Julie Newmar was doing McKenna's Gold when the Batman movie was made. Lee Merriweather admits that her chemistry with Adam West was real. If they had been single at the same time something would have happened.

Being black and white it lacked the primary colour "Flash" of the 60's movie but it's still pretty entertaining and crazy.
Oh, and if you're easily offended, be warned, it WAS made in 1943, during World War II, and the portrayal of the Japanese Spymaster Doctor Daka IS very stereotyped, but then, they WERE at war, and then, as now PROPAGANDA is a thing.

I'm not sure you could do a UA-cam video on it, but have you seen the XXX rated Batman based off the '66 series? It's an amazing love letter to the show. The DVD has a SFWish version where all the NSFW scenes are cut out. It's worth seeing if you enjoy the '66 series.

If they would make another sequel than Robin should be turned into Nightwing and tease Jason Todd at the end of the movie. Not 2 say they should make 1 though.
Do kinde wonder how they would do Bane in that universe. Mby having the Hispanic side being a over the top, would fit with time period and because of type of show it is. But same time making a few jokes aboot how big and strong he is, like lifting jokes.
Bane is in the final run of the Batman 66 comics, so you can find a 66 version there. Actually those comics did a pretty good job with 66’ifying the rest of Batman’s rogue’s gallery. They had Falseface mutate into Clayface, Harley Quinn gets a surprisingly tragic origin story, Two-Face is brought in via adapting his scrapped episode, they found a way to work in Solomon Grundy via a botched Queen Of Diamonds plot and they managed to do crossovers with Green Hornet, the 70’s Wonder Woman series, Man From UNCLE and the U.K. Avengers

@@PureMaddnessOne to the movies? No, at least the animated ones. Two-Face, Harley Quinn and Hugo Strange have completely different backstories. Although I will say the comics really do a good job of expanding on the show in new ways. They brought back one time villains who deserved more time in the spotlight like False Face, Shame and Chandel (although they were unable to get Liberace’s likeness rights it would seem), Batgirl gets time to shine, they bring in Arkham Asylum and add some extra backstories to the characters like Clock King

i'd like to see them do another batman 66 movie..maybe have batman and catwoman tie the knot...have batgirl in it..and introcuce ra's al ghul....perhaps do an animated batman 66 meets wonder woman 77

But recently it's actually been coming on the TMC channel randomly & I've actually caught it a few times & watched 😂 I actually really kind of started to appreciate it a lot more while i was watching it for the 2nd time. 🤘🏽🫡
