You caught me off guard with this pick!! Jackyl are a southern rock/metal band from Georgia, formed in 1991. Jesse James Dupree is their lead singer. "The Lumberjack" was their debut single, but followed it up with some other bangers like "Down On Me", "When Will It Rain", "I Stand Alone", and "Dirty Little Mind". What a great rabbit hole you're about to dive into!
Absolutely. Been digging them since they came out. Great suggestions.
@@jeffreyflint6286 was a freshman in High school when this dropped. Been rockin ever since
I've seen jackyl a few times. Love, love love the chainsaw and yes it is on stage with him❤️
Saw them open for Damn Yankees in 1992... they were a lot of fun for sure.
Heck yeah all the songs listed are great Saw them open for ZZ Top 👍🇺🇸⚜️🔥🔥🔥
“When will it rain” would be the perfect follow up to this. Down on me, Dirty Little Mind, Headed for Destruction, I stand alone…..all great songs from Jackyl.
Ya listen to this guy he remembers all their songs names.
God I love them
Agreed.....hit all of those tunes!!
Yes. I would also add chief rock a ho and secret of the bottle and locked n loaded with Brian Johnson
Plus, the awesome "Encore (She Makes my Bic dig her)". 🤘😎👍
Wife here.., Hey U2...I was a little bit surprised at this reaction.., I've never Mentioned this before but my brother is a Country Music Star...He Performed at one of the same concerts as these guys...They wereBuck Wild!.I Love Jackyl!!...Soooo gritty!!
And yes.....he really does play a chainsaw LIVE! He even split a stool in half at the end of this song when we saw them last with Slaughter. "I ain't jacked my lumber baby....since my chain-saw you!"
That's not all he USED to do live. The SCANDAL.
i saw them in a bar in Fayetteville, NC in '99 or so. watched Mr Dupree carve the band logo into the ceiling & hacked a bunch of bar stools in the process. he's an amazing front man & great guitar player.
I've cut enough firewood that I know a small engine Homelite or Johnsred would be easy to do it with. It BLOWS my mind that he actually had the chain on it in concert! Thank you so much for the story about him cutting his stool in half. I know having the chain on a saw surrounded by people is really reckless, but hey, what the Hell is rock if not reckless?😈😁 Thanks for sharing!
We were lucky enough to catch a piece of the stool!!!
I don’t think most new folks to this song often get the that line..😳😅
Old Amber: "I don't Rock, it's too loud!"
New Amber: "YES! HE IS PLAYING THE CHAINSAW!"
A few years ago my husband and I went to a smaller venue in Columbus, Ohio to see a friend's metal band. The show featured half a dozen bands and ended with Jackyl who positively stole the show. They are still great live. I may be a 74 baby brought up listening to the Beatles, Simon and Garfunkle, Janis, Donavon, Earth, Wind and Fire, Three Dog Night, and Pop Radio, but I enjoy it all. 💖
Jackyl plays at the Full Throttle Saloon during the Sturgis motorcycle rally every year. Check out the song Encore at Full Throttle Saloon. And yes, those are former WWE superstars as backup dancers.
Jackyl has a huge list of hard rocking, fun to listen to songs.
When Kmart refused to sell Jackyl albums, they parked in a random Kmart and had a concert till the police showed up and arrested them. These guys are the outlaws of hard southern rock.
I love that video.
I actually saw them them at Full Throttle, in Sturgis.
Come to Indianapolis for Thanksgiving! Jackyl always plays here the night after Thanksgiving!!
Epic!
I believe Jesse is part owner in the Full Throttle
Now that you've discovered Jackyl, you must react to I Stand Alone, Down On Me, When Will It Rain, Dirty Little Mind.
That whole album was fire. I wore out the CD!
@@Shrykespeare hell yes
Well he's a big AC/DC fan so I think he will really like the one that they did with Brian Johnson.
I believe that was locked and loaded.
Dirty Little Mind might be a bit…um…racy for this channel 😆
I've loved this song since I first played it on air for Y95 (KPKY) in Pocallo Idaho in 1993! If y'all wanna hear more Jakyl, check out "Down on Me."
I stand alone by Jackyl is a must. I found this group back in the days of MTV, when they actually played videos. Watching HeadBangers Ball, and they played I stand Alone, and I fell in love...check it out!!! ❤️❤️❤️
As a chainsaw operator for 25 years and counting this song is an ANTHEM ! 🤘😁🤘
Thx for the reaction ! ✌❤🇨🇦
What an awesome Anthem to have! 🤩
" I Stand Alone,Headed For Destruction are also great songs, among many others. Every song on their first album are awesome.
I loved their first album... for some reason I wasn't a fan of their later work. I have two other albums and the only song I like on either one of them is "Secret of the Bottle" off the When Push Comes to Shove album.
Just like a devil, redneck punk, back off brother are also bangers.
The lead singer cut himself with the chainsaw live, and finished the show before going to the hospital, that’s rock and roll guys
One of the best southern rock bands that are still around, still making music, still touring, and just totally Rock. I absolutely love jackyl.
Jackyl one of the best raw hard rock bands. You can't go wrong with any of there songs. I've seen them many times and they still tour today.
I've seen them 8 times in concert. Twice in one day when they did their world record. Awesome show every single time. Even got to drink with them after a couple shows. At the bar next to the venue they where playing at. Great group of guys.
RIP Christine McVie (nee Perfect), arguably the most successful UK female songwriter of all time. Please react to her song "Why" from the 1973 Mystery to Me album.
I Love Jackyl!!! Finally someone reacts to them. You should check out their songs "Down on me", "I Stand Alone" "Dirty Little Mind" and "Locked and Loaded" which also has Brian Johnson from AC/DC singing with Jesse James. I saw them in 97. They saved Locked and Loaded for the Encore and Brian Johnson came out and sang with Jackyl then they ended with Back in Black. Such a great show!!!!
Yezzz! Finally somebody did some Jackyl🤟🤟🤟🤟. Thank you so much. Check out some more.
Check out "Fish out of Water reactions" I've given him a few Jackyl songs to react to plus a few hundred other hair metal type bands and a couple hundred guitar virtuoso songs.
Hey bud maby this how you meant it but 🤟 is I love you, 🤘 is the metal fingers/devil horns.
Just a friendly PSA!
I was working at Camelot Music in Greenville, NC when this album came out. We had more people walking in the door asking for this album than anything else besides G&R Use Your Illusion I & II. It was crazy!
Omg! You guys did it!!! I’ve been suggesting this to you forEVER! I knew you’d love it!!!
My dad used to play this for my sister and I while cruising around in his truck as kids! I don’t have my dad anymore but I have those memories and this made me so happy! Watching you guys react and feel what I felt while listening to this, made me tear up and think of him! I know he’s giving us the devil horns form up above right now! 🤘🏻
Now that you’ve listened to this, you should listen to down on me, when will it rain and I stand alone by Jackyl, you will love those too!
One of the rare bands that the whole album is awesome
The first time I ever heard Jackyl was when I was deployed in Somalia. One of our MP's played that whole tape over and over again almost every night. Needless to say, by the time we came back to The World, I was hooked. This and Down On Me are def my favs.
"I Stand Alone" is another banger from them with an amazing guitar riff.
I LOVE JACKYL!!!
Saw them play live twice.
Same. Great band live and Jesse's chainsaw skills are impressive!
I’ve seen them like 4 times. Still have the drumstick that hit me in the mouth at one show.
These guys are on tour right now. Playing club dates, and yes - Jesse James Dupre does still play his chainsaw on stage.
I have seen Jackyl several times. But the concert that stands out the most was one they played at The Fox theater in Atlanta GA. When they were playing this song, the whole theater filled up with the smoke from the chain saw! It was hilarious! I love this group
" I stand alone " is a good one to. They just released a new album a few months back or so. The chainsaw solo was killer.
Yeahhhhh they finally listened to it. Loved it.His name isJessie James Dupree Lead singer. Knew you would loved it.Jackyl has I stand Alone and Down on me.
Awesome
'Aint nobody got a jackyl sitting up by the fireplace!' I love it! Jay and Amber always make my day.
Someone should tell Amber that Jesse James isn't talk about cutting wood , More like laying it :) .
When will it rain and Down on me are my favorites!
Have to admit I'm not familiar with Jackyl, but that has to be the most inventive thing I've ever seen on stage. And I was in the music business for 20 years. Crazy.
One of the funniest songs I've ever heard! I love it! In concert Jessie James Dupree, the lead singer and chain saw player would actually cut a stool into pieces with the chainsaw during the outro. 😂
Duuuude I saw them in concert at the peak of the hype. They were the opening act, followed by Slaughter and then Damn Yankees headlining, but from the crowd energy, you could tell we were there to see Jackyl. Imagine...I was 19, about ten bodies away from the stage, sweaty af...🎸🤘
Jackyl was a blast. I’ve seen them three times live and they’ve always sounded amazing. As for songs… you have to do “I Stand Alone”. My favorite Jackyl tune. You’ll love it!
“Down On Me” is my fav Jackyl song and the showcases a historic change in the music industry
This was the theme song for the old Cleveland Lumberjacks, a minor league hockey team, but everytime they took the ice, they would blast this over the loudspeakers! Those were good days...
I love love love Jackyl and Jesse James Dupree, amazing vocals. You have to go down that rabbit hole, many good songs.
The whole first album is killer. Push Comes to Shove is off of another one but really rocks hard.
Every Jackyl song rocks. I've seen them 4 times. The live shows are incredible
OMG I have been waiting for you to do this one! True story I went and saw them in concert and it was a small venue and they had it turned up so loud that the next day my ears were ringing and my kids stood at the foot of my bed yelling my name and I didn't even hear them. They are notorious for turning it up way too loud but are awesome in concert!!
Saw them live, just outside Atlanta, about 15 years ago, in a small venue(about 250max capacity). I was right near the stage, they ended with this song and him using the chainsaw to cut up a wooden stool and toss pieces out to those the crowd. His mic stand was an old black powder musket rifle. At the very end, he fired it and scared the life out of me. I just thought it was an unusable prop but it did have powder(but no load) in it.
Omgosh!!! This is awesome! I'm so glad you guys did a reaction on Jackyl! They're so under rated! Sadly they came out too late. It was the end of big hair and the beginning of grunge when they came out. But you need to check out their video "I Stand Alone"! The video is interesting, because K Mart wouldn't sell their CD so they set up in their parking lot and performed the song 🤣 Go check it out!! "Haven't jacked my lumber BABAY since my chainsaw you!" 🤣 😆
I saw Jackyl open up for Damn Yankees in Cleveland. It was a fantastic concert. The next day they were doing an autograph signing for a radio station in my home town of Erie, PA. So my buddy and I went down and had our concert tickets signed.
Once you listen to all the hard stuff you need to try "Secret of the Bottle" I love these guys and was super psyched to see you checking out a song by them. Keep up the great work.
I wore their debut CD out back in '92. The whole CD is great and Jackyl will always be one of my faves.
Love this song! The chainsaw is awesome!
I can't believe I never heard of this band before! Thank you and your audience for introducing me to them!
There was a time when a lot of groups were trying to put out a blues song. They seemed to follow a formula, of sorts, so James Taylor wrote what was a kind of parody of what bands were putting out. It was called "Steamroller Blues" and is actually one of my favorite songs. It was even covered by Elvis!
Steamroller blues is an amazing song, the live version is fantastic
They played in my area a lot back in the 90’s, always an AWESOME rock n roll show!
I'm Flashing back to the early 1990s back in the party days, These Guys were usually cranked up so loud it was scary, We saw them they were great ! Fun ! and so loud it was unreal we saw them at an outside concert with several bands, Drank and did way too many things I dont do anymore! Glad I survived !
Please do a tribute for Fleetwood Macs Christine Mc Vie " Songbird" Thanks guys ❤🥰
i was just going to suggest that i heard a perfect song on the radio today she sang it, Fleetwood Mac's last top 20 hit: 'Everywhere' great choice for a tribute not only for her but for anybody also a fire choice for Female Friday can you do it this week?
YES, omg I was a massive fan of this band! I even had a fan club bumper sticker on my first car that said “Rock me, Roll me, Jackyl me OFF!”….I still have their debut album. Lead singer Jesse James Dupree was such a babe! 😊👏🏻🤘🏻✌🏻😎
I still have my rock me, roll me, Jackyl me off concert shirt from the early 90's. Hope all is well
Just heard…RIP Christine McVie!!🤘🔥
I've seen Jackyl around 15-16 times as the were the opening act for Aerosmith. They always put on an awesome show. The coolest thing that has ever happened at a concert was Jesse James hopped off stage ran up the middle aisle turned and then ran up to the side seats and sat down right next to me and sang 3 songs with his arm around me. After he got up and high five me and ran back to the stage me and my friends were in shock that just happened. Still remember it like it was yesterday.
all of Jackyl's music is cool. you can't go wrong.
Thank you for finally covering jackyl. I stand alone. Encore. When will it rain. Dirty little mind. Down on me. Walk my mile. All great songs!
Jessie is wild in concert. They really good live. On a live at Sturges dvd, he bunny hops across the stage with his pants at his ankles. The drummer is nearly standing while playing to watch him do it. Some funny stuff.
As soon as I saw the word chainsaw in the title I said "Yes, they are finally checking out Jackyl" I love every song on their self titled album, of which this song is one of them, but my favorite is When Will it Rain. That is an anthem of a song.
Omg this was a blast from the past! They are such a fun band to see live!
Yes… I’ve been waiting for this. I suggested this a while back! I love it!
My husband and i went to see Jackyl when this song was such a big when it came out.....everything he sings is rocking hard and this was the craziest and biggest hit he had. It was such a fun show!!!
Jesse James Dupree helped run one of the biggest bars called "Full Throttle Saloon" which was also a show and reruns of it are still going.
This band is really fun 😅 I saw them live once, and they were great.
Saw these guys countless times since 92 and they still kick ass
That whole album absolutely rocks!!!
These are some of the coolest guys ever, i see them all the time here in KY, i have half a bar stool in my closet from their show.
Jackyl is a hair/rock band with a very strong blues rhythm that comes out VERY strongly in this song. They take some crap for being a hair band just a few years too late, but that overlooks their talent and versatility.
Down on Me, Push Comes To Shove and When Will It Rain are 3 of my favorite Jackyl songs beside The Lumberjack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Saw them open for The Damn Yankees in 1992. Lead singer Jesse James Dupree cut up a barstool, and airbrushed the bands name with the chainsaw in a wooden angle brace at the corner of the stage.
Try Redneck Punk from them.
I was a bouncer at a bar called Coyotes in Louisville we had jackyl play twice a year.. Jessie was always told before the show to NOT cut up one of our bar stools which he ignored and cut up anyway and they gladly paid the 50 dollar deduction.. Class act rock band
OMG!! I saw them in concert back when this song was popular and I got the drummer's drum stick he threw out in the audience! 🤗🎸🎶💃🎵 I may as well tell on myself. When the drummer threw his drumsticks, I caught one and this crazy girl started trying to yank it from my hands and made me drop it, so I stomped my foot down on it when it hit the floor, and here she came again after my prize! We had a tug-of-war, and I wasn't about to lose the drumstick, I gave one hard pull and got it back, and shoved it down my britches, and dared her to come after it again, lol! Over the years, I used it to prop up my window, displayed it at other times, but that was a fun night after I got my drumstick back!! He played the chainsaw in concert, too! I can't believe I missed this one last night!! Awesome! Do BILLY IDOL'S "HOT IN THE CITY" next, please!! Thank ya'll for the fun videos!!
Not to mess up a rocker but Christine Mcvie of Fleetwood Mac past today . Sad to hear the loss of q great song writer and musician.
“I stand alone “ is a great one. The whole first album rocks
First time I have heard of "Jackyl' and I have been listening to music for almost 60 years.
Jackyl has set two Guinness world records, one for playing 100 concerts in 50 days, and one for performing 21 concerts in a 24-hour period
Saw these guys once at a small club during a snowstorm, they played a full show for 4 people, crazy! This song always reminds me of bon Scott ac/dc, kinda has that vibe
I seen Jackyl couple years ago in NC they still rocking!
Jackyl played local to me before they were signed(90-91) They were really cool guys. Fun to have a few drinks with.
My cousins called this Redneck Rock-n-Roll... They use to play it at our family parties and the ladies would get out on the dance floor and two step dance to this song... My family comes from Kentucky... being called a redneck or a hillbilly is a badge of honor in our family... 😁 Our hometown in Kentucky has a Hillbilly Days festival. I miss going down and visiting them... such fun.
I admit, I giggled when I saw the title! My first thought was, "They have NO CLUE what they are about to hear!" *YOUR FACES* LOVE IT!!! This band ROCKS HARD! You might hear people say the 90s sucked, but we had FUN!!!!
My favorite Jackyl song is Reach for Me. Awesome vocals on that one also.
About time somebody reacted to Jackyl. These guys got alotta good songs.
I Stand Alone
When Will It Rain
Back Off Brother
Push Comes to Shove
Rock-A-Ho
Down On Me
Encore...watch the video
Lend Me A Hand
Don't Lay Down On Me
Dirty Little Mind
Screwdriver
Rally
I love this whole album!!! And I love the fact that you said he's playing a chainsaw!! And in the song he says "I ain't jacked my lumber, baby, since my chain saw you!!!"
When I was in Highschool, the drummer of Jackyl's sister was our guidance counselor...
By far the funnest concert I’ve ever been to
Wow havent heard these guys in a very long time!
Today Christine McVie from Flewtwood Mac passed away...was wondering you could do a reaction to Fleetwood Mac's "Songbird" as a tribute to her for Female Friday or even for tomorrow? She sings and plays the piano so beautifully on this one...thanks
I saw them in concert in the mid 90’s and they were awesome!! He actually uses a chainsaw with the chain on it while on stage swinging it around! He lit a barstool on fire and cut it with the chainsaw!! Epic!!
Saw this song performed live.. Pretty cool, they even left the chain on and cut up a stool at the end.. They opened up for Aerosmith in '94...
Jackyl is a fun fun rockin' group!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BACK OFF BROTHER is greatness by Jackyl...
Thank goodness you guys are finally getting to Jackyl - they are SO MUCH FUN!! I have seen them live at least 6 times and they never fail to entertain. But beware - some of their songs are naughty!! LOL. And they also did a duet with Brian Johnson of AC/DC that you would like
Just seen them in st.louis area not long ago. Jesse James Dupree ( lead singer ) still hits all those high notes! Sounds great in 2022 !
Jackal is from Atlanta. I live a hundred miles south in Columbus. They've been through here alot. My buddies band has opened up for them once and I've seen then a few times. They just played here a week ago. They're awesome live.
I love Jackyl, this song is from 1992 from their first record, check out those songs too : Down On Me, When Will It Rain, I Stand Alone, Push Come To Shove, Misery Loves Company
Seen them in concert years ago. He used the saw to carve the call letters of our local rock station on top of wooden stool. KATT then threw stool into the crowd.
Jackals were prominent in Egyptian history. A long eared dog.
jackyl are classics..I saw them when they were doing a tour on the back of a 18 wheeler truck yrs ago. nice guys from Atlanta
Hey family! Pastor Fred here in Rockwood TN. In the 90s, and in this video, the guy playing the good guitar is Jimmy Stuff. He and his wife formed a Christian rock band around 2011, and I got to hang out with them several days over the next year. Really nice people. Look up Apprehended Ones album R U 1....
"Whether ya like it, or whether ya don't, Woooo! DAT'S DA WAY WE LIKE IT!!!" Perfect way to end it.
Yes!!! Finally a good band. They have plenty of hits that can be revisited
