He can say it the same way people like you say 97% of all scientists believe climate change is an existential threat. Really? Do you know ALL the scientists in the world to say 97% of ALL...
@@katiez688I'm not sure i'd trust a survey. I think some hope unexpected parents will rise to the occasion. Like the gun people say however, they instead fall to the level of their training.
This is a very difficult story. I understand that in that climate getting any care after a crime like that would have been very hard to find but what the hell is wrong with a family that not only allows a man to live after raping a child but actually creates the situation that allows it to happen again?! What the fuck. Bless her to have the courage and presence of mind to grow so well mentally and emotionally, her grandparents obviously loved her regardless of the genesis of her being but seriously they not only didn’t feed that bastard to the pigs but made her mom marry the guy?! Sorry, that is messed up. He never should have breathed another breath after raping a child
I am the consequence of a r*pe, my mother was a 14 year old runaway. My biological father and his family had no idea of my existence, My mother's family disowned me before I was even born. When I was born there was not one person in the world that welcomed me. Instead of putting me up for adoption, the government social workers decided to give my teenage mother an apartment and custody of me. She had no family support and was completely on her own. It did not go well. She started harming me when I was 3 months old and persisted until I left home at 17 years old. I was never loved, cared for and had no hope or aspirations in life. I was in survival mode for much of my life and struggled with depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues. I was told very early on that I was the result of a r*pe and "ruined" my mother's life. I am not grateful for my childhood and the struggles I have had. No baby or child should live through what I did. I deserved better -- even no life would have better than what I had.
Thank you for sharing this painful story. For what it's worth, I'm certain the world is better for you being in it. Even to give testimony to your survival is incredibly powerful. Our world would be a MUCH darker place if every person whose life involved nightmarish pain was simply erased. Given what human existence was like for most people not that long ago, I don't know that we would exist if our standard for prevent life was pain.
Petra, thank you for sharing your story. Your story adds value to this very nuanced conversation. I know it's not easy and I'm so sorry for all that I'm sure you suffered. But, as John said, I'm glad you're here. I would love to speak with you if you're okay with that. Blessings!
@@Kathy4Truth Thank you for your message and your offer to speak. It is appreciated, but I'm not sure how I feel about it. But to offer more nuance to this discussion. The first 10 years of my life were very unstable, with over 16 moves and even some time living in a van. When I was about 10, my step-dad (my mother had many children with different men, but married a man who took us all on) got a unionized construction job. For the first time we had some financial stability. He built us a house and I was able to join a school swim team and girl scouts. I believe these things saved me from a worse outcome. So, I have a few policy recommendations. If you ban abortion, then the following should be in place: (1) well developed mechanisms to ensure all babies have a home with adults or full-time supervision for underage moms (2) strong wages and affordable housing for workers (3) strong funding for schools and extracurricular activities (4) well-regulated and accessible mental health care. Best wishes.
You and your life deserved So much more than what happened to you, I am so sorry for what you endured and it’s very sad and hard to have to live with. It’s a failure of the people around you, not your existence, and they blamed you instead of themselves and the person who took advantage of your mother, who clearly was unable to handle her circumstances either. It’s a terrible statement on our cultures and society. None of that determines your worth and although I 100% understand what you’re saying and why you would say it, but I’m glad you’re here and I hope you can find something to help you heal, to find something that brings you purpose and move through the process of healing. No one truly gets “over” anything, you move through it like a tunnel of light and dark
John while I appreciate what you’re saying here but I have to debate the argument that is being presented here because her example is Very unusual. Our culture, our government, our whole society, is Not geared to helping women, children who are raped or otherwise find themselves unable to provide a place for a baby. Her circumstances were extremely difficult, but there are even more difficult! To remove an option for people legally will cause even more brutality. Religion is wonderful when handled appropriately, just like any other tool of dealing with life
The lack of self control was the reason her mother was raped how are you comparing someone being stupid with their morals at a a bar and the criminal behavior of a predator?
I'm not totally anti-abortion but can understand his point of view. If you believe personhood starts at conception (which he does as a Catholic), a killing of any baby-to-be is the same as any other. For him it's about the fetus/embryo's right to not be killed, not about the circumstances of the mother.
Just came to say, i subsribed because you spoke truth in your ad. We do not have a democracy, we hace a Constitutional Republic. I really wish one politician would say that.
In 2020, the courts completely failed to look at evidence such as Georgia's failure to check signatures to see if they matched. Unfortunately, we have election officials who are political partisans. We need election officials who think like forensic investigators as well as administrators. If they faced losing their professional licenses if the computers aren't inspected, don't have secure passwords, fail to check signatures, destroy ballots before the legal date etc, we wouldn't have had such a tainted election as we had in 2022 or in AZ in 2022/
I dont think you need to be religious to be a decent kind person…I do wish your mom had a choice….I think, your a gteat person but what happened to,your mom was terrible
This story regardless of how painful it is doesn't change my mind one iota about keeping the government out of a woman's right to choose or her reproductive freedoms. I definitely wouldn't give her ra&&st any say in the matter. Our Body Our Choice bottomline. Her mother was forced to marry her predator and keep the baby it's NO doubt the mother is going to hate him and endure an abusive relationship on top of everything else smh. Yes and of course she's grateful to be alive duh....... Btw Trump's and his evil cronies are trying to dismantle the constitution that she loves soooo much.
People should very much understand what happens in countries where limited abortions are NOT allowed.. in our own country women have been murdered, thrown down stairs, kicked in the stomach, and the very gruesome home abortions involving coat hangers... and some suicides. Lets say it doesn't take much time with abortions being abolished completely in some countries to see women of all ages coming into emergency rooms and morgues because of it. I believe in the sanctity of life, our government has a role to play, but they can not stand against the men in vans offering abortions in a black market world, money talks and bs takes the bus.
I think this is true, of course. But a lot of people will also just not have an abortion if it is illegal. I have heard testimonies of people who have said the only reason they were here today was because at the time their mother was pregnant with them abortion was not legal where they lived and that was enough of a deterrent for their mothers. Of course, laws do not prevent 100% of evils, but I think that they do prevent a lot of things from happening... otherwise why have laws at all? I mean just take murder for example. Don't you think we would have more murders if there were no legal consequences? I bet you that we would. A lot of abortions are done out of convenience. I very much doubt that those women who want a family eventually, but are just feeling like this is not the right time would opt to throw themselves down stairs or use hangers at the risk of their lives. You are right that if abortions are illegal, there will likely be a rise in "black market" abortions and death of the women who undergo them, but I'd argue there would also definitely be a LOT fewer abortions... I think if you take into consideration the dead babies, you'd have a lot fewer deaths in general. Obviously the best thing would be for everyone to see the value in each human being. To not want to harm or discard another person because of personal desires. I'm not just talking of women here. If men didn't commit evil acts, if men stuck around to provide and care for the children they helped create, there also would be fewer women feeling like abortion is the only way. Alas, this is not the world we live in...
I do not vote if I am very frustrated with the Dems. But I will never show up to vote for Reps as long as they support me being forced to carry a pregnancy and give birth against my will. I am pro family and pro policies that make life easier for American families. But no one has a right to force me to carry a pregnancy and give birth against my will.
There are very few circumstances where abortion is acceptable. Rape, incest, fatal risk, or other extreme genetic or developmental abnormalities that will be life-limiting. If you don’t want to carry a child to term, don’t have unprotected sex. This is not hard.
