Who is Chadwin Smith? I am an aspiring cinematographer. I love creating videos and showing others how to light and shoot better videos! I also review tech and gear. Based in Arizona, USA
Does it cost your soul? YES
It's a professional camera, I would be surprised if it was affordable
@@kosmas173 For a professional cinema camera under $4000 it is considered accordable
Compared to a proper cine camera, this thing is dirt cheap.
Friend of mine and I have 5 of them and a fx6 I think getting a fx3 would be worth it too especially used
It’s pretty affordable if you do filmmaking full time
My absolute favorite film camera to date. Until Sony comes out with the auto ND on the next model lol
YES!! It’s really such a great camera. That would be incredible if they ever add an internal ND to one of the smaller mirrorless cameras, i have my doubts cause they want people to buy the larger cinema line still, but you never know!
@@chadwin My problem with the FX6 and 9 is that they are too expensive and bulky for indie, gimbal, and run n gun, so I will never buy them. They are more geared towards studio and news broadcast settings
FX3 with ND would be my ideal camera. They would sell them in droves, more than any FX6 and FX9 would dream of. If only Sony would stop being so greedy and shortsighted. They are only hurting their sales and their customers.
Just look at the dissatisfied owners of the AS73. Even since the release of the ZVE1, people have been asking for just a lens breathing compensation firmware update for their GM lenses. It's been 2 years and we get no reaction from Sony. Paying 4-5k for a camera only to be ignored by Sony for newer releases is demoralizing to say the least. Imagine looking up to someone as your role model, only to be let down by disappointment
not a film camera..........
Can you apply ND filter at Sony fx3?
I have the little cousin to this, the “A7S-III” for video, and the distant cousin the “A7III” for photos. Great combo, and I get great results.
Just got the fx30 and I’m in love with it ❤❤❤
it’s a great cam, and the FX6 and FX9. I’ve worked with them all a ton, and 1st AC’d a doc for Netflix called Sly about Sylvester Stallone’s life on the FX6 with a little bit of FX3 and FX9 and they all look great and are super reliable
Love my FX3, just got a new slider for it
That’s dope! Sliders make everything look better
@@chadwin 💯💯💯
@@jnoblase the Neewer one, I believe it's 1 meter long :)
I have an A1 and i dont regret it best hybrid but if you want to shoot video, get a C70 or a used C200. Thank god I didn’t buy more A1 like I was planing.
Completely different form factor.
The FX3 is basically the same camera as the FX6, but in a smaller package. It's image quality is superb (although this video does an godawful job of showing that).
If you want something a little more built out and professional, the FX6 beats the Canon alternatives any day of the week.
It’s a fantastic sensor & processing, even the Skintones are descent after some basic grading. But user experience is atrocious. The way the menu system, data readout & display as well as playback are handled are years behind. And this is Sony, a company looking into a broad history of great UX with consumer products and cameras like the F55 or Venice. There is like a display option that basically just throws a bunch of little Pictograms at you (made me laugh & cry), then there is a Layout that works for framing but doesn’t tell you anything out the storage or voltage. Just do a fake Alexa Data Display, everyone is happy. This is holding a lot of these small & great cameras back.
All this minus the “Netflix” badge is identical to the A7S3, which is what I’m sticking with. I also have an A7C with 24mp, mainly for photos. FX3 is def the better choice, now with the updated OS.
Trying to find a decent entry camera that isn't gonna cost me an arm, a leg, my liver, and the soul of my firstborn child. I've taken photos with my phone for a while, and although a lot of people say they look good, it bothers me that further distances look really bad and bright light makes the photos come out blurred.
(Older phone; I do not have a Google pixel whatever number we're on, so its not like the camera is actually kinda good)
Yeah, honestly I’d just start with a used DSLR and a 50mm lens. That will get you really far and you can find tons of used options on Fb, OfferUp, EBay, etc for $500 or less. Once you start getting really comfortable you can upgrade to something nicer
since this camera was released 2 1/2 years ago there's probably going to be a new model soon. also sony should really add shutter angle and waveform already.
Don't count on it. There was a little over 5 years between the release of the A7SII and A7SIII, and the FX3 is basically just an A7SIII.
Knowing Sony, we're not getting a new one until at least 2025, probably later since the Alpha line will get the upgrade first.
I don't think that the fan matter that much for the weather sealing, it's not like it's just a hole in there to cool the components. How do you think toughbooks are cooled?
Yea, there is no direct access to internals from inside the fan hole. It is weather sealed. It can survive rain, snow and all sorts of conditions, just like Sonys other modern fullframe cameras.
Love my FX30, its amazing, couldnt ask for more. I mean FX3 or FX9 or Venice would be nice lmao, but Im very satisfied with it.
I almost want to buy this even though I’m thoroughly in the Canon ecosystem. Low how compact and ‘riggable’ it is.
I want one but I already sold my kidney for a few lenses and I don’t want to loose the other. Might go sigma fp which seems to be good for the money
Tbh coming from an A73 and switching to an A7iv, 33mp is way to much when shooting in darker conditions, I kinda wish I bough an A7s3 or Fx3 🥺
Which lens and how much does it cost?
you can really use it with any lens. but i mostly use Sony G master lenses now
You make good reels!
Thanks is amazing killer Workflow camera bro.
I think the body technically only has 3 axis stabilization and the other 2 axis are if you use the Sony lenses with OIS
Is the Sony FX30 too Netflix approved?
Not yet.
Why do camera people plug Amazon? B&H, the best camera store ever has FX3 in stock along with every accessory you’ll ever need.
Because our moms only have an account for Amazon, lol.
i usually get my package faster with amazon
Probably because B&H is US-based, so there are extra steps to ship worldwide. Then you have Amazon which is just easier and more convenient for the average person I reckon.
I think ot became a bit long in the tooth now, as the insides are of an A7S3. Maybe an upgrade in an year or two, when the A7Sx comes along.
Can it do sports photography? Like the 30fps A1?
Nope
It's design is centered around filming, no point in comparing it to photo cameras let alone hig-hend sports photography cameras
I used the Sony a7s3 in the rain, no problem
The A7SIII doesn't have huge fan exhaust ports on the side.
I took it out in the rain. It was fine
But... The fan grate is weather sealed
yeah, they claim it's weather sealed, but i wouldn't risk it in any real downpour.
It's $5,435.99 Canadain...
Yess
Still prefer black magic 6k gh2
Am I old or fans in cameras are some new stuff.
it's new for smaller video focused cameras. the S5II for example has an internal fan. a lot of cameras don't have it though
What does “Netflix approved” mean? I’m genuinely asking. Feel free to laugh
I believe it has something to do with the quality of the image and file format/delivery? Just my guess
Really doesnt mean much in reality its simply a badge and allows u to shoot majority of netflix productions with this camera. I think 80 or 90 percent of a production has to be shot by a netflix approved camera.
@@slurp3194 no kidding. I had no idea. That’s wild.
@@slurp3194 It actually is based on real quality requirements for Netflix to approve it for their platform. The XAVC S-I 4K 10-bit 4:2:2 codec is what gives the FX3 this approval.
The Creator : FX3 all the way
"Netflix approved" is such a joke, black swan was partially shot on 5dmk3, I bet that camera isnt "Netflix approved". If you are hired by Netflix? Then Maybe it does make a difference, but I bet 99,99% of your viewers are not, not even you! :D
It's just the same as a7s3
Three and half lack rupees😢
FX30 should be too. Not too much difference in quality
EOS R have better weather sealing than Sony
They also overheat constantly.
Laughs in FX 1
Probably 😢😢
it is not a full frame!!
@@jnoblase sorry i confused it with the fx30

Tired of hearing Netflix approved.
Overpriced.
Sony weather sealed? lol. Their camera shutters get stuck in cold weather. Garbage
Your YT shorts are awesome. Here before they blow up🫡
