Great Demo Vid . Nice Work ! Easy to Follow instructions. I failed my first attempt on 2 small rear windows not realizing the cheap heat gun i got off ebay wasn't hot enough to actually shrink , so now im going to borrow a real heat gun and have another go soon.
This is the only video I've found where you explain how to shrink the fingers and where to place them first. I'm going to try and do mine Again with this extra knowledge. Thanks.
@@ryanbrilliant6793 yeah I messed it up 😒 it all went well except one of the corners wouldn't tuck in to both sides at the same time and it ended up creasing and not sticking down. But 3 of the windows were OK I still need to do the back 1. I bought ready cut tint so now I need to buy a roll to replace the 1 window. But I managed to get the fingers out by using this video. I guess i just need more practice. But thanks 😁
Thank you for the video, this really helped me a lot learning online., there was guy who tried to charge me £400 just to teach me how to tint the window.. ridiculous.. thank you again!!
Bro!! You're an absolute legend. I've watched a few videos now on this but nobody was answering the key questions. Is the tint directional? What solution are you using etc. You literally addressed every single point. I'm gonna attempt this over the weekend armed with all the knowledge you passed on. God bless you brother 🙏
@@ryanbrilliant6793 Fully flopped lol. Took the roll outside. A gust of wind came and creased the whole roll 😂 Tried cutting the film against the rubber seals but ended up with a fully jagged edge. I've done all sorts of mechanical, electrical and paint jobs but I think tinting just ain't for me 😂 I may try again when I have some free time
Great vid. Fully explaining and getting rid of the fingers.... should have watch your vid before my first attempt on the rear window... 2nd attempt is going to be so much easier. Thanks
My tinting foil came in as foil only, not a carton roll in there. Not expecting it to be that slippery, the whole inside of the roll just slide down and as an reacting I grabbed it harder, causing it to crease the whole roll..😭. for those who have a similar roll, I recommend holding it at the bottom or with two hands and roll it out over the window as you stick it to the window
@@boblad77 got on fine apart from the door part. The rear did not shrink as well as I wanted. Be patient. I was hurrying it a bit. Turned out alright though.
Dan Davidson mate are you thicker than glass itself. Bro you always cut on the glass just don’t dig the knife in and you won’t scratch it. How else are you going to cut the tint to shape without being a bell end and wasting excess time
thank you for a clear easy to follow instruction, appreciate your video! I will attempt my first tint ever on the hatchback of my toyota hiace! do you think a hair dryer will be hot enough for shrinking? and..i've noticed small rectangular compartments on the inside of the glass itself that connect the defrosting wires..i reckon i'll cut from outside the window and see the line of the boxes..fingers cross it'll all line up nicely!! Thanks again.
use a heat gun to heat the outside whilst pushing the bubbles back down. eventually they will stick. unless there to big and if so that means you did heat shrink sufficiently
Hey, can you tell me why you don't heat-shrink and cut to size, before moving to the inside? I don't understand that part. If you cut it when it's all wrinkled, how does it fit properly on the inside? Thanks in advance.
I don’t understand I was following all the steps an then it got to the bit where u first squeege the middle part and across then the two sides going up and down but even the first time I put there squeegee on the glass and went across it jus scrunched up and I ended up getting cracks everywhere in it where it wasn’t laying down was so fckn frustrating
no its much easier to do it on the outside because the film is thicker as u haven't removed the outer protective layer and also more space to work around
Hi there dear friend, I like your video, if I use not expensive film tint, and like cheap as usual, they sell in accessories shops, is going to be easy to install, or I have to buy, something, quality, like something expensive , I will be happy to have your positive reply, any film tint company, recommendation
Yes mate this is me. Use Suntek tint. You can buy it from mdpsupplies.co.uk. Problem with the cheaper tint is that it won’t heat shrink and it makes the job a lot harder because it is such bad quality
Proper good job. Tried this today, all i can say is get the fingers vertical. I tried shrinking horizontal fingers and it creases immediately. Details do matter. I'll report my results when im done.
Im done with that. Still doesnt look acceptable and i dont want to roll my windows down. After about 5 rolls i came to the conclusion that film really matters. At first i thought im just making mistakes, but cheap chinese stuff is really thin, you can shrink only tiny fingers, if you handle it like the dude in this video you're getting nowhere. It scratches very easily when pushing out the solution, even when using a soft squeege and lubricating the surface. Need to get my hands on some proper film, problem is, nobody sells it in my area, only tint shops have it since they buy in bulk. If you can get your hands on something like genuine 3M( a lot of fakes out there) stuff then by all means try it, if its the shenzen special "solarwindowfilm" then dont bother, you'll wreck your nerves. Honestly you get what you pay for.
Good job! Tip? Use a brown card to shrink or some kind of plastic tool. Works much better than a glove and cut the shrinking time in half. Each finger should take 4 to 5 passes up and down.
No bro, you ain’t got it right. You need to use a glove on very curvy windows else the card isn’t flexible and it will crease the tint as you push down on the fingers
@@mguerrero8787 it's 4 year late but anyway yeah you're right. I remember that everytime I try to heat the cheap 1 ply tint it burned the very second I turn the heat gun on it.

Can you use a hair dryer instead of the heat gun
The headace occurs later when the air bubbles creeks back on the edges.

what do you think of these ebay pre-cut tints? would that be a better option for non cutting?

i was wondering, could a home window tint film be used on a car window?would it shrink?
no it won't shrink
Why did i get a rainbow effect in some places when looking from outside?
probably just condensation so should go
Thats one of the most easy back glass to do !
It all depends on the shape of the glass

Did the tint ever interfere with the defrosting lines?
It doesn't

Bro 😅😅😆😆😆tf .. We in Jamaica only use the spray bottle, the squeegee and the stencil .. it turns out better than this 😂😂

Head and shoulders
Doing a H pattern this thick whilst also wet shrinking will cause you a world of problems on curvier windows
