    This is how we deal with sheets: We have two sets and change them weekly. We wash last week’s sheets, strip the bed, put them on, and leave the dirty sheets in a specific basket until the next week. Repeat. We never fold (or store) clean sheets.

    Rather than laundry stripping (time consuming) add some vinger to the wash (I pour it to the bleach section) & don't use fabric softener. Your laundry will not smell of vinegar & it is considered a softener. The softner holds the gunk in your lundry over time & makes your towels non-absorbent, don't use dryer sheets either.

    I use Borax and washing soda in every load of laundry. It takes out a lot of odors and stains. I pre-mix it with my powder detergent so it is ready for laundry day. It also keeps white clothes much whiter than bleach, as bleach tends to add a yellow tint over time, but this kills germs like bleach does.

    • @MR-pr8tp
      @MR-pr8tp 2 дні тому

      I too created my own laundry detergent using Borax, Washing Soda etc (lots of recipes on line) and saves a ton of money. But I don't mix it with other detergent, just make my own. Find it works better too. I add drops of my favorite essential oils to create a fragrant laundry. I have just created my own Dishwasher detergent as well. And took a rag and added essential oils to the rag, tossed in the dryer and adds great smelling laundry. (less expensive than dryer sheets) Spraying vinegar on the rag will prevent clinging. Just getting too expensive to buy prepared detergents that as you noted can do better.

    Love these hacks. One thing regarding the soap dish by your sink (or any soap dispenser by any sinks) - turn on the water, so not get hands wet yet, squirt some some in your hand then wet one hand and NOW rubs your hands together to get soapy and clean! Your soap dispensers and the dish or mat you set them in will never be wet/collect water. Brilliant!

    That's the main problem with these new washers. They use so little water, the clothes not only are not clean , but the rinse doesn't get the soap out. Then we're supposed to put that in the dryer and bake the soap in? Nah, I add 3 rinses to my wash. Stupid government, always sticking their noses into everything. I end up using the same amount of water now....🙄

      OMGGGG I totally agree with you!!!! I can’t stand these people who think they know best so they force the manufacturer to comply with these new government rules, claiming they want to save water for what, for who?? We pay for our water it’s not like they’re giving us free water for God sakes. I can’t stand it. Why try and fix something that isn’t broken. In the meantime, my sheets are ripping because there’s not enough water after spending good money on nice sheets and your stupid ideas are doing nothing but ruining our clothes and everything else we put in the washer. All because a few rich geeks thinks they know what’s best for us. I hate those new front end washing machines. Now you have to buy expensive washing machine, cleaners because of the soap buildup, which makes your washing machine stink, which also makes your clothes stink. Now you have to keep them open to air them out and these new laundry rooms that you have upstairs have nice bifold doors that you can’t close because you gotta keep your washing machine doors open to air them out and you still get mold all around that rubber seal that you gotta kill your fingers trying to wipe out with bleach. Bad idea, rich geeks stick with what u do best “writing comic books” in the meantime, please bring back the old washers and give us the choice whether we want your new crap. Sorry for my long rant 🫢

      @elainemurphy2115 I love it!!! You share my anger! Hey, I found this tip on line. It's not the perfect solution, but it helps. So the machine weighs your clothes at the start, to know how much water to put in. You need to make it weigh a lot more. I put my laundry in the laundry sink, get everything fairly wet, not dripping, then throw them in the machine. I actually get more water now. Not enough, but more.

    To clean the filters above the stove top, under the stove hood, I have found that if you lay them in the sink, spray them with Dawn Power Wash covering them completely, let them set for at least two minutes. Then flip them over and spray the other side.Soak at least two minutes. Rinse in warm to hot water under the faucet. Tap them on the sink. Lay them flat on a couple of paper towels and blot them mostly dry. They will look like new and they don’t seem to get as dirty as fast. Dawn Power Wash also cleans and shines my sinks very well. And, when I use a plastic bowl for pop corn or spaghetti sauce, put them in the sink and spray, let set a couple of minutes (it doesn’t work as well if you don’t let them sit a couple minutes) it get the greasy popcorn butter out of your bowl and it gets the red spaghetti stains out of the plastic containers. It works great on actual Tupperware brand Tupperware as well. Wipe down the stovetop or countertops while you wait the two minutes because it doesn’t work if you don’t wait. Dawn Power-wash leaves a fresh clean scent that I love, because it makes my whole kitchen smell great great.

    The parchment paper hacks were cool! For the laundry stripping/soaking I use a bin in the tub to save water. Easier to free up the tub too if needed. Also decided to phase out fitted sheets, they're such a drag, the elastic goes, they're hard to fold. Sized up and put a flat sheet on the bottom. I guess that works up to Queen size. Not sure about king. Hotels use flat sheets on the bottom, not sure what they use, if it's a certain kind or they size up.

    Well, gotta say I'm super impressed! I'm 64 raised 4 kids and often 'Oh brother' 🙄 about a lot of the millions of 'hacks' because they're so old or obvious. You got me today Gurl. THE CORN! I'm the same way, such a pain, I hardly do it! I do now when we're all together, the Grandkiddies love the 'shucking'. But when it's just the 2 of us, can't be bothered. So thank u, you're the 💣. Great video! to the point, no "fru-fru" added. My favorite hack that changed my life: Apple phone: create a grocery list in Reminders. For example I shop certain stores for certain items. Example: peanut butter at Costco. To that item I add a "location" or the address to the item and upon arriving at Costco at that address,, the reminder or list that has that location, pops up on your phone as you arrive. While shopping, "hey Siri, delete peanut butter." I also add hashtags to items #Costco, or #Walmart, and this allows one to bring up or search the list under the hashtag even if you don't have a location set., creating a list for that store. How many times am I driving and remember an item to add to my lists: "hey Siri, add xxx to my Costco list". Blew me away when I learned of this and my all time favorite. Hope it helps someone else!

      Sorry but they aren't clean. And they come straight out of a chicken. Then you are going to dip one in the egg that you are going to eat... Not knocking you, or home ec.

    • @DrValerie800
      @DrValerie800 26 днів тому

      @@infjandcoping4614 Unless you are eating them raw, that is generally not a problem since the heat of cooking will kill bacteria. It is also suggested to avoid washing eggs because there is an antibacterial protective coating on the shells that is removed by washing. So washing would be done just before using them.

    • @infjandcoping4614
      @infjandcoping4614 26 днів тому +1

      @DrValerie800 you wash your eggs? You get eggs from the supermarket, and then wash them? Ok, then go ahead with your shell.
      I know about the benefits of not washing the egg while it is still fresh from the chicken. But after that dries, there is still more than invisible germs on a farm fresh egg.

    • @DrValerie800
      @DrValerie800 26 днів тому

      @@infjandcoping4614 Yep, I wash EVERYTHING since everything we buy from a store has had multiple hands (at the least) all over it, from the farm to the store.

    We tried the magnetic screen door and it didn’t work at all. Any slight breeze and the magnets came loose and would not close. Also here in Texas it gets too hot and the double stick tape just melts and falls off the door frame. We have regular storm doors on our front and back doors, but we tried the magnetic screen door on our side door going out of the garage - total fail. We bought it at Home Depot and it wasn’t cheap, so back it went. Glad yours works for you though.

    I do the corn thing it’s the only way I cook and eat it now except I don’t trim the end especially the top
    You need to have that to grab on to and pull the silks off trust me it’s not always that easy especially if it cools
    Down sometimes I have to grab with a potholder and wiggle it but it still
    Comes out clean

    Why can't the towels, etcetera be soaked in the washing machine instead of a bathtub? It seems like a lot of work to put them in the bathtub and then have to clean the bathtub afterwards.
    I throw my filters from above the range into the dishwasher with my dishes a couple times a year.

    With the fitted bed sheet- you can put the other sheet & pillow cases that go with the set in the middle and fold it all together. Also- with the parchment paper, on the small square sides there are perforated pieces that when you push in go in the center of the roll keeping the roll in the box when you go to grab some. Same for aluminum foil, Saran wrap etc.
