One habit you taught me maybe a year ago or more, is never going to bed with a dirty sink. I think you mentioned in that video, that it builds up your momentum to clean other areas in your home every night. It absolutely does! So, I start with the sink with dishes then up clearing off the kitchen table and counters, wiping everything down, sweeping the floor, mop if need be, and tiding the living room. And the crazy thing most of the time it only takes 30 mins on a small mess to 45 mins one bigger ones! I love love love waking up to a clean kitchen and a tidy home! So thank you very much! I am going try some things you mentioned here! 😊
The best thing I ever learned from you was “tomorrow me will thank today me for doing this!!” ❤️Works every damn time!!👍The 10 min get ready is genius too!! 😍

Hey there! Could you make a video or linktree for all your go-to family recipes? I am struggling to find easy, cheap, and healthy meals and it sounds like you have some on hand! This would be SO helpful for the stage of life I am in. Thank you!
I’m now a grandma. Thank you for the video. Yea life is busy. One thing I used to do is no food in the car. Only water, therefore no soul clean ups. I’d keep each (4boys) a backpack packed with extra clothes, flip flops, snacks. A small football, frisbee, soccer ball. Our stores were a true home. So if kids were hungry either to or from our destination, we’d pull off at a park for 10-15 minutes reset eat, kick the ball around or just take off our shoes and feel the grass between our feet. Life was busy but it’s those 10 minute moments spending with the kids that’s important. I’m cheering you on.
Love it! My husband & I apprehensively/excitedly bought a new SUV after a scary accident with our little ones in the car. Our first rule was no food in the new car too. It’s a struggle but worth it!
When I’m at the grocery store and my toddler wants to help ring every single item I let her because she’s a person to and just because she might seem to go slower than everyone else doesn’t mean she shouldn’t be able to! I’ve been trying to slow down life for sure! I’ve relieved myself from a lot of social pressure. ❤
Kallie, I’m retired and my life is much quieter now than when I worked and had children at home. However, I find that some routine things are very helpful. I try to make sure all of the dishes are in the dishwasher or hand washed before bed, I make my bed before I leave the bedroom, in the morning and most importantly I meal plan and make a grocery list. I can’t believe the stress relief knowing what’s for dinner every night, gives me, and shopping with a list not only keeps me from forgetting something, it often keeps me from impulse buying. Little habits mean a lot 🙂
Same here, retired & only two of us to care for. But doing the dishes every night before going to bed is one of those " today's Carol can do for tomorrow's Carol" adage that stuck with me from Kallie a few years back. It works and my hubby now does certain daily/weekly chores also that helps me out.
Did you know that your u should not make your bed too soon after getting up? You should actually pull the blankets down to air the sheets out. I saw it on Inside Edition. Has to do with hygiene.
I heard this is a military saying. "Slow is smooth and smooth is fast" means fewer mistakes which not only saves time in the long run but is also a safety measure that can prevent injury and save lives. It's easy to forget though, so these reminders are much appreciated.
@@cinderbelle22 my therapist said he heard it from a welder and started using it for parenting scenarios. I’ve even heard it once on the show Modern Family. Lol I think it’s a great quote for a lot of situations, kids or no kids
I started last year doing the no dirty dishes in the sink at night and it has really made me feel better when I get up in the morning and see a clean kitchen. ❤
So true about slowing down when things start to get tense. I used to try to “muscle” through it, but then I would get more frustrated and often injure myself (eg. Working in the kitchen). Now I stop, take a breath, close out any annoying things around me and purposefully go slower. Thanks for sharing your tips! 😀🇨🇦
For the last month, I have been placing my phone in AIRPLANE mode for chunks of time, throughout the day. This way, I still have access to the camera, calendar, alarm, etc…. It’s been a game changer! No WiFi, no social, no phone calls, no texts, etc…..❤
I really appreciate your content. Most of the time I find stuff about cleaning and organizing really discouraging. But your videos help me feel better about my struggles.
I can’t believe the individual laundry baskets is a new thing, I’ve been doing that my whole life and got it from my mom, but you’re right, it does make laundry faster!!
There is alot of controversy with better help, mainly around the quality and ethics of their therapists. You may want to research before continuing to partner with them 😊
Came to say the same. Better Help is not what it seems! Always do due diligence on the therapist you’re seeing (the word “therapist”/psychotherapist is unregulated and so anyone can claim this title like the word “coach”) and the way the company is storing your data.
Yes. It’s very concerning. Better Help is taking advantage of one of the most vulnerable moments in a person’s life. The ease of access is a nice concept, but Better Help have failed to protect their clients. I know Kallie means well in her suggestion of getting help, but hope she does a bit of reading and re-considers this particular partnership. There’s a reason why they need influencers to promote their product at the moment.
I am happy someone said something, I only became aware of this through Dr. Mike. I trust him so I checked and yeah bad things going on with better help, stay away. I thought of trying them thank God I didn't, always always do your research.
You need programmable lightbulbs! I got lightbulbs at Costco that connect to an app, and I can set to follow a circadian rhythm. They get brighter and bluer throughout the morning, then get yellower and dimmer afternoon into evening. They've been great! Plus I can set them for disco when we're having a party :P
I don't do dishes at night because I'm tired, my eyes are tired and I probably won't do as good of a job. I always do dishes in the morning when the kitchen window is bright and sunny and I am wide awake!
I also don't do dishes in the evening. I try to do as much as I can while I cook or when I have a minute. Also Kallie has a dishwasher. I don't. So this takes time on occasion.
I’m in a similar life stage as you with three young kids, and many of these habits I am working on myself. It is soooo easy to rush through things…then you blink and realize you want it to slow down! I’m going to set my Lock Screen to SLOW DOWN as a reminder throughout my day. It is so important and so easy to forget!
Completely agree with your last tip! Constantly being in a rush is the worst. And why is it always at the checkout counter?! I started simplifying the routines and tasks that make me want to rush- currently in a grocery delivery season of life! Game changer.
I wish I allowed more time for getting ready to leave with my kids - being anxious about being on time made me impatient and I underestimated how much time kids need to get going and transition from one activity to another. I urge parents of littles to give yourselves extra time.
Thank you so much!!! I’m a single mom of 7 girls and a teacher. I struggle to find any time for me and quality time with my girls. You are a huge help 😊
Just implemented a small load of laundry a day, and we dump it on a bed everyone in my family (kids 3,6,8) foods their own and puts it away. And because we do it almost daily, they are folding like 3-5 articles of clothing each so it’s not too bad ❤
I have had 7 kids, 6 still at home, 19-3, I have always separated laundry since the older ones were tiny and out numbered me. Now my teenagers do their own laundry, which is hard when I have gotten used to controlling the ebb and flow of laundry. Learning to let go is hard 😂. Also, I love the sleep tips. Sadly, teenager’s circadian rhythms are disrupted by puberty and hormonal shifts and brain changes. I didn’t grow up with phones and laptops, I still had a hard time falling asleep when I was supposed to. Now I know that was being a normal teen and having undiagnosed ADHD. Teenagers brains usually can’t full wind down until between 11 pm and 1 am, and yet we expect them to arrive to school by 7:00!!! No wonder they are acting crazy and overly anxious and feeling overwhelmed. Callie, I have been where you are, enjoy this time. The hardest era I am in is now, where I have children in all seasons and I am in all parenting stages (caretaker, cop, coach and consultant) but I am in my 40s, so my brain can do the flexible thinking required here. 40s are the best era so far! ❤😂Thanks for sharing here. I think this is what I should be doing too😊
Re teenagers, does more sleep help? I am in a daily struggle to get my 12-year-old boys out of bed in the morning. They are on their screens at night, but they claim they get plenty of sleep (7.5-8.5 hours), just can’t wake up in the morning. It sounds like taking away screens and changing bedtime will not help? Until they’re adults? 😂😭
@@kayo5291 about sleep, read the teenage brain, it’s on audible. We just didn’t create a world for kids or teens, we made our world about work, the introduction of working in factories and 9 to 5 or shift work. People have struggled with sleep before we had technology, it just gives us a distraction sometimes. People used to wake up in the middle of the night start a fire in the hearth, chat and tell stories or a late snack before going back to sleep. We have medicalized sleep in a strange way. Good luck!
Love that last one, about slowing down… I found that I was cooking 5 different items at a time, to be done earlier. I tried cooking just one thing at a time, and found the whole task a lot more enjoyable
Great video. My husband and I have been intentionally practicing healthy habits like these for the past month. I feel so much better and more motivated through small, intentional actions each day.
I have had separate laundry hampers for my sons for years, game changer also for socks. No more seeing the sizes when they both wore blue socks for school.
I am watching from Denmark🇩🇰 I am not a mom ( unfortunately ) and I don’t live with anyone (also unfortunately) but I love all your videos and your advices are so good -so thank you👍😀
Good and bad is alright. We must stop being afraid of judgement, as it is judgement that helps us sticking to what is important. For example: kids need to know tgat kicking is bad. Liquid values do not do us any good. Dont be afraid ❤. Apart from that, great habits. For some reason your videos inspire me to be more organized at home, and put things in their place ( do you add subliminal messages in the videos? 😂). You are known at my home and we all know that it means decluttering and organization, and some crafts for decoration. Thank you. God bless you and your beautiful family
Something that has really worked for me is cleaning small areas at a time. I have serious health issues, so I have limited amounts of energy in a day. I have sectioned out the kitchen in my mind, and I make sure I clean one section a day. I also do this with dusting and cleaning. I find my house feels cleaner overall with this system!
I can’t agree with you more on intentionally slowing down. I started doing this in the morning before my kids go to school. It used to be a mad rush out the door, but when I started slowing down, realizing we weren’t going to be late, it made a drastic difference. My kids go to school calm and happy instead of feeling frantic and short tempered. I love your videos!!
I need to be so much more like you…. And I want to become encouraged and press on You are a good cheerleader.. Yes journaling! It makes life so much easier. Thank you, yes it is who, you are is important. And make a plan then work that’s plan.
I have been working on overcoming the mindset/training I had about sorting laundry by colors and it has made things so much easier. I still have to do the dark dark stuff separately though!
I've never been attached to my phone and find myself leaving it at home when I go places. My grown kids get so mad at me, but I just figure they can wait. We lived without them most of our lives (I'm old, 60) and it's sort of fun to just forget about it some days.
These are some great ideas. I also think making micro habits to have intentional restful/inactive moments helps so we don’t burn out from the accumulated active micro habits. I love the phone box idea it’s an extra level of intentionality to have to open a lid and pick the phone out of it. Thanks for the video!
Lovely video❤ I do the last one at least once a month. Intentionally slowing down is so underrated but highly effective to gain back one’s sanity and be a happier individual.
I love the same day every week for certain tasks; I follow the same grocery/prep cycle that you do. I also assign each room in the house to a specific week of the month for cleaning. 1st week kitchen, 2nd week living room, etc. It allows me to stretch the decluttering, dusting, floors, etc. over several days so that I am never working more than 15-20 minutes unless I choose to.
I love your videos in general, but I think this one is particularly brilliant. I totally agree about your penultimate point - slow down your life - and can relate to your check-out example. I find it really stressfull going through the check out, and I too have recently started trying to conciously relax - remind myself I am where I am, and that rushing, getting flustered is going to make the situation worse. Taking a deep breath, and taking my time, and even, trying to enjoy the moment (not always possible). But it really helps. I've also been trying to take this approach in other areas of my life - like traffic jams when I'm already running late - me getting tense isn't going to get me there any faster. It's really hard though, and I don't always manage - but the times I do - WHAT a difference! :)
I would like to thank you for this video I needed this video so bad . The last few weeks have been really rough for me I am taking care of my mom and sister and my sister is a huge winner 😢 and it gets me so stressed out I just want to sit down and cry. So thank you so much for this video.
@@SusieQZee He was 12. Like most kids, he wasn't keen but I made it clear that if he didn't do it, it would not be done. I had a couple of times where I had to let him go to school in unwashed clothes to call his bluff. I think his friends comments on those days motivated him to own the responsibility and we never had that scenario again.
I’m definitely a strong proponent of dimming the lights at night. This is the first I have heard about shampooing after conditioner, I’ll have to give it a try!
Would love a quick video on your opinions about life as a mom of 3. I’m considering 1 more but the idea of being outnumbered is daunting. You make it look easy!!
Young woman, you have much wisdom! What a great video! These were all great points! A lot of them things I have tried at different points of my marriage, and they really do change your perspective and the way you feel about your husband! But I find I always need reminders like this-don’t forget to be intentional! So thank you!
Hey Kallie. Great tips. Do set out clothes night before. Game changer. Gotta try slow done. Your right just causes me more anxiety and its not anybody is offering to take something off my plate. It will get done.😊
So hard for me to slow down in those stressful moments. I feel like I spend most of my time rushing around about my day. I want to try and be more intentional. Thanks for the tips!
love the NEW title for your channel and love this Vid! Slowing down and dopamine detox is SO important! Id love to hear you talk about other heathly habits like morning sun! Drinking mineral water for vitality and enrichment of life! This is a game changer. I add a pinch of himilaya or celtic salt to all the water I drink! After 5 years l'll never go back to drinking dead water 💧
Hehe! I just painted this and... overabundance of flowers in my vase. I love the cut glass effect so much! Gonna try this again and share on Pateron channel.
Love these :) A great idea to invest in in some big Stachers reusable silicon bags and a chalk marker to erase your notes for your freezer-prepped meals. They're fantastic! Thank you for sharing, great tips :)
Thx Kallie! I enjoy your tips. My kids are a lot older, so I benefit more from the general stuff and not the kiddo tips. But my sister and sister-in-law have 4 littles (and now you're on your way to 4!) So I have recommended many tips or forwarded emails. The main reason I am writing is to say, I am sorry you felt you needed to send an email about your name. Excuse me, is this your business or someone else's? Excuse me, did you ask or need their permission? No!!! When it's time to rebrand, you do what your heart tells you. I liked your old name, I like your new name,.but you could be called Kallie Kares for all I care. You go lady! Do your thing. We'll keep tuning in. ❤
Shampoo then condition then re-shampoo? Did I hear that right? I also shampoo twice but the condition after. Is your hair still tangle free and silky if you do 2nd shampoo after conditioner? Mind blown!!
I also get up at a certain time every morning when I tell myself to get up. Unbelievable., while I was doing an office job, I would tell myself to get up at 5:30 a.m. and I would. Just in case I did have an alarm clock set but I always would beat the alarm clock and wake up first. Weird. I did that for 20 years. Never failed once. I can still do that even though I am retired.
I loved all the tips Kallie but I felt the last tip just was meant for me, I resonated with it so so much, thanks for putting it into perspective & reminding us to take things slow!! Lots of love! Good luck with the new name!! It totally suits you & your content!
I am soo glad I found your channel a few weeks ago. I have been gleaning some practical info nuggets to incorporate into my life that were not taught to me growing up. I feel like I am way late to the party.
Love this!! I would definitely enjoy hearing more (like a whole video) about your thoughts on slowing down and playing with your kids. Life is so busy and chaotic now with my baby and I feel like I don’t have time to nurture my relationship with my older children. I really need to get back to playing and reading with them more and not just being chaperone and chef 😂
It might take longer to make food, but having your older children help with cooking can be a good activity. They'll learn a skill and spend time with you
Thank you! As a mom of 3 kids I took your advice on never go to bed with a dirty sink. It has made my life easier. Last Saturday around 2am my neighbors home across the street was on fire as was the house next to it. Everyone got out safe! For many hours my home but mostly my kitchen became an emergency shelter for my neighbors, kids and pets.
@@ninnymuggins5159I think her point is that she had a clean kitchen when she had to have all those unexpected people in her house. At least I think that’s her point
I love this. Good on you! Although - even if you hadn't done your dishes, and your kitchen was messy - I'd hope that no one would judge you, and would just be happy and grateful that you welcomed them into your home in the middle of the night. I'm really glad everyone was OK. (For context - I'm simulatenously trying to keep my home cleaner and tidier, whilst also getting more comfortable with letting people in, even when it's more deshevelled than I'd like! It's hard after years of believing everyone elses homes were perfect all the time!!)
Are separate laundry baskets not a regular thing tho? 😂 i couldn't imagine throwing it all together. I do all of laundry on the weekend, typically Saturday now (used to be sunday). And ill throw some random loads of towels in throughout the week. Its a great routine. I totally agree about clearing the car out every day. Ive gotten into the habit of this. The only day im bad about it, is Friday cuz im just over it by the end of the week 😂😂
I don't plan any meals. I eat the same thing all the time. Breaded Chicken steaks with mayo and Cajun spice. Or with gravy and vegetables. Weetabix for breakfast. Toast anytime. Yoghurt and rice pudding anytime.
Gurl! I believe you're my sister from a different mister! Lol seriously, there are so many things you do and ideas you have that are exactly how I am! Thank you for getting it out there, that's one thing I couldn't do, lol. Your shirt trick for hanging, I do that with my jeans as well! 😉😉 thank you again!!

Homeschooling helps teens the most because they can sleep and learn whenever they are ready.
@@ninnymuggins5159 If you can and they want to that work.
I am a big believer in sleep and wake times being consistent! It makes a huge difference for me! Love the tips!thank you!
Agreed 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I just fell upon this video and I love it..
Amen! Having all our clothes/ laundry separated by person is amazing and such a time saver! Been doing that since my kids were born and its great!
I love the point about slowing down and taking your time and not rushing. So much practical wisdom here. Thank you!
I have had separate laundry hampers for my sons for years, game changer also for socks. No more seeing the sizes when they both wore blue socks for school.
You are incredibly kind to your future self. That’s inspiring.
I’m an empty nester but your tips can be used by everyone.
Gosh! It's amazing that your life is so jam packed and yet you have time to do videos!👍
The individual laundry basket is my favorite thing ever. I don't know why I didn't think of it sooner
I am watching from Denmark🇩🇰 I am not a mom ( unfortunately ) and I don’t live with anyone (also unfortunately) but I love all your videos and your advices are so good -so thank you👍😀
ughhh i neeeddd to do the car clear out! Always so much idk how we take it all out to the car each day - i swear it all multiplies in there
Good and bad is alright.
Wow! You are so inspiring! Thank you for helping me and my family!
I've never been attached to my phone and find myself leaving it at home when I go places. My grown kids get so mad at me, but I just figure they can wait. We lived without them most of our lives (I'm old, 60) and it's sort of fun to just forget about it some days.
I always worry the day I don’t have it is the day my car could break down or I get into an accident or flat tire etc
This video was genuinely refreshing! Thank you so much! ❤❤
Separate laundry hamper per person was a game changer for us too. And was so much easier when it came to teaching my son to do his own laundry.
How old was he when you taught your son to do laundry and how has been going? I’ve been thinking about my kids taking over this task.
You are so good at what you do, wishing you all the luck in the world
So hard for me to slow down in those stressful moments. I feel like I spend most of my time rushing around about my day. I want to try and be more intentional. Thanks for the tips!
The last habit hit home with me. I need to focus on not rushing.
The idea of taking an empty bag for clearing out the car is something I never thought of. I’ll need to do this, now.
I almost missed this because I didn’t recognize the channel…whew!…glad I didn’t skip it!😀
love the NEW title for your channel and love this Vid!
I wondered who the email was from ('that practical mom'). But I will always sit down and watch you with a coffee!!!!😁
I would like to say.... when I am doing meatballs or meatloaf I use plain instant oatmeal as a binding agent. I find it works lovely.
Also making own breadcrumbs is easy, just slices bread in food processor
My grandma used to use oatmeal. Sometimes crushed crackers
The double shampooing DEFINITELY works!
It was a marketing ploy to double shampoo sales! 😂
I agree, it works for me! I thought it was just something hairdressers did. Then I realised I can extend time between washing by doing this…
So do you wash them condition then wash again?
@@asps1031 I wash twice and then just put conditioner on my mids and ends, not on top or on my scalp
I personally wash twice then condition. I condition only the bottom half of my hair.
Loved all of your ideas, as always, but that last one about intentionally slowing down to be present really resonates. Thanks!!❤️
😂
I saw the thumbnail and I thought “who is this but first coffee imposter!!”
Love you girl ❤
Shampoo then condition then re-shampoo? Did I hear that right? I also shampoo twice but the condition after. Is your hair still tangle free and silky if you do 2nd shampoo after conditioner? Mind blown!!
Thanks for your advice and your kindness !!!!! ❤❤
I have used the one basket per person method since my first child
I am going to try some of your suggestions because I feel most days I’m not able to get out of my own way. Thanks.
Congrats on the new screen name ❤️❤️❤️ love your content 🦋
Thank you for these tips. I have been looking for ways to simplify my life and this video had some very helpful tips!
I love your tips!! I have no kids and these are still really helpful for me 😊
I am soo glad I found your channel a few weeks ago. I have been gleaning some practical info nuggets to incorporate into my life that were not taught to me growing up. I feel like I am way late to the party.
Shampoo twice I do it too. The laundry basket is a good idea.
Please share what kinds of foods freeze well based on your experience
Have been doing the hair thing for years! But, my hair is extremely oily so I have to do it a couple of times a week.
Were you still up doing the dishes until 2am when it happened?
@@ninnymuggins5159 I did the dishes before I went to bed a few hours earlier.
@@ninnymuggins5159I think her point is that she had a clean kitchen when she had to have all those unexpected people in her house. At least I think that’s her point
@@asps1031 Yes that was my point 🙂
Wow. Thank you for this video. The last tip about slowing down, really hit home. The checkout like at the grocery store was a GREAT example!
I don't plan any meals. I eat the same thing all the time. Breaded Chicken steaks with mayo and Cajun spice. Or with gravy and vegetables. Weetabix for breakfast. Toast anytime. Yoghurt and rice pudding anytime.
Great tips- thank you as always!!
You are looking particularly radiant in this video 😍
Thanks for the tips! You're my favorite UA-camr!
I bought the magnetic meal planner for the fridge, and I really want to do it. But I just can't seem to get into the swing and discipline of meal planning. Life keeps getting in the way of sticking to the planner. How do the rest of you do it?
I do mine as part of my weekly mail sorting and bill paying routine
If you can’t plan a whole week, try just planning half the week to start with.
@@asps1031 That's a great idea. Thanks!
Came looking for the link to the video about using your phone less. Please add it to the description!
Very motivating as always
I would love to see another video about more of your micro habits
i can't believe you havent been a professional model at some point!! you're gorgeous mama!!!
