I've had the speed 400 for about 5 months now and have done upwards of 4000 kms on it. Loving every moment of it and it has been selling like hot cakes over here in India. I'd be happy to share my opinions if anyone has any questions.
Everyone knows about bajaj's reliability. Can you please let me know how is the engine?? And is it solid? is it trustworthy? I owned a pulsar rs200 and sold it cuz of engine problem
I had a test ride of this. Man oh man, I couldn't get off from it. It's so good. It has comfort of Himalayan seat, smoothness of honda cb350, power of a duke 390 and pleasure like an interceptor. Gears are tall, no knocking, maneuvers like a Messi on field, pulls harder than a machine gun trigger and feels like a dragon you're flying on that's completely in your control. It's so good! Its Triumph Scrambler400x 🎉 for the Ride ❤
Just took a street 400 for a ride, unreal little 400. Handled very well, was comfortable and had plenty of go. Make an ideal town and second bike. Would love to see someone do a long trip on one as into 5th gear it went well too. Was a little vibey but nothing too wild, the handling made up for it. Priced very well. The only negative for me was the rear pegs were too close.
Thanks for the review! Seems like Bajaj gets at least some credit for the build quality, no? While the RR isn't in an ugly location, it is under the seat where it gets no air flow (from what I've seen in one review that actually lifted the seat). This seems like a problem down the road. As for the short gearing - the can't be improved with a sprocket change, yes?
For sporty ride, definitely the Husky. More power, and less vibes at the top. The Speed 400 is a fun commuter. It has the power for sporty riding, but the vibes past 6k rpm kinda ruin the fun.
"The Gearing Is SHORT"! This is not the only channel that has declared these two bikes have short gearing. But not the only bikes either Why do almost all manufacturers insist on putting too short gearing in mid to small displacement motorcycles. I guess it is to increase acceleration. The problem with this is that it decreases riding pleasure at cruising speed. Also causes slow speed instability while cornering as one needs to shift more often when turning through an intersection. It pisses me off that almost all mid to small displacement motorcycles need to have gearing upgrades to improve rideability and safety.
Even with the short gearing there is plenty of torque, basically you can easily pull this bike from around 17Km/h in 3rd Gear and 23Km/h in 4th Gear. Once you reach 3-4th gear you’ll barely need to downshift on this one, unless you’re really stopping
I rode the 400x yesterday. I didn’t think the gearing felt short. Neither did I need to “keep changing gear” to maintain progress. The engine pulls extremely well for a 400cc and felt smooth, flexible and well set up.
@@knackeredrovers They are saying that the Top Triumph 400 is £5995 I paid recently just £3695 for a Brand new on the road Royal Enfield Hunter 350 In Yorkshire Great Britain ✌️ That's Over £2000 by my Maths, So I'm afraid you are Wrong 👎
LOL 😂 You missed out completely the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 Which costs nearly £2000 cheaper than one of these new Triumph 400 bike's, And this New Triumph 400 is only 3 horse power More than a mid 1970s Honda CB400 Four at 37 Horse Power 👍 Which is food for thought? Cheers Paul Foster 👍
A Hunter is £1,100 cheaper than the Speed 400, but has half the power and significantly less torque. It’s also nowhere near as well specced or finished. I had a 400 four and loved it, but it needed to be ridden much harder to make progress than the Triumph I rode yesterday.
Hunter is heavier, has half the power and is not nearly as much fun. RE is readying the next Hunter with the Sherpa 450 engine from the new Himalayan. That should make for an interesting comparison.
Yamaha SR400. You can still get them in Asia. Slightly tongue in cheek comment. I have a Mk2 390 Duke. I wouldn't buy any Triumph. Peppy performance because of the short gearing = buzzy on the highway.
That is unfortunately true. Can cruise along comfortably at 90 - 100 kmph, gets vibey from 110 kmph. Since mandated speeds are much less in India, not much of a problem. Two wheelers are not allowed on expressways here due to squids speeding and crashing, and ruining it for all riders 😠
Looking at the roads in Uk, i dont understand whay people there want anything more than 500. Man, 5 hours and you will reach border. For people goiing across europe is ok i guess.

How is the fuel economy? Km/l approximately? Cheers from Canada
@@adamlanglois563fuel economy is about 30kmpl on scrambler and about 33kmpl on speed.

Zack Courts said the precise opposite re the gearing.
The fork is NOT a Showa product. It's made by Endurance and is excellent.
Yup, made by an Indian company 'endurance technologies limited'.
Great info.
And it's still gold

What would you choose for sporty dayli ride Triumph Speed 400 or Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, choosing between this two, thanks for any suggestions 😊
I would go for the vit...way less posey and more unique...
For sporty ride, definitely the Husky. More power, and less vibes at the top.

Really nice bike!!! Do you know the max load weight for this bike? And it is beginner friendly ? Thanx :)
Pirelli tyres on some reviews here in UK don't know if there's much difference.
£5595 Scrambler X price UK (not £5995)
Yes, displayed wrongly at 1:12 but correctly spoken
What do you thing about the rust resistance? I live near the sea, the Royal Enfields are garbage for that.
will the scrambler 400x sit at 120kmph for the motorway? thanks!
Easily

It's not a new thing,
The Honda CB400 Four of the mid 1970s had a six speed gear box.

It can feel a little short while accelerating from standstill. But you don't need to downshift as often. Engine has great tractability.
Parking lots, walking into garages, putting in trucks ..my manual car has a short first gear ,ya don't hear me asking why.
Could there be a tiger 400 in the future?

QC reviewed and approved by Triumph. These are currently the best built motorcycles in the segment in India.
