In the 80’s and 90’s when I was in school those books were thick as hell. My book bag weighed at least 25-30lbs and when filled with those books was at least a foot thick. I think that would have been enough to stop most pistol rounds.
Picked an 111A for my daughter for college. It’s a Jensen type black book back pack. She barely noticed the weight and none of her friends knew it was armor. The ones she told loved it.
I agree, test it with a text book, chromebook, and a couple spiral notebooks. Glad it stops bullets empty, but interested to see body impact (cardboard etc) with it packed a bit. I think it will make a difference.
Thinking about getting one for my son. We live on a violent city. It's better than nothing. Learn how to use it as a shield. Lots of drive byes lately.
@@Howdy762 she likes it so far in the two weeks she used it at school. The zippers and seams seem like good quality. I got her the soft armor which she does admit to it being a bit heavy with all her normal books. Its a comfort for me to give her a potential life saving tool.
Even a broken rib behind armor can be lethal if it hits in the wrong place. But any armor is better than nothing. Just don't think you are 100% safe even with top of the line armor.
I love this style of book bag body armor its than the kind that transforms because those are impractical, no attacker is just going to stand by as you transform your book bag into a vest but this one is cool because you can just wear it on the front of your body and be protected constantly without needing to transform it👌
I so wish I had bought a PS90 back when they first came out. We were a factory authorized shop and everyone working there had the opportunity to buy one for $750, with the stipulation that we couldn't sell them for a year...
Thank you for including the 7.62Tok ammo, in Europe this is part of the 'threat environment'. I am thinking of getting a UHMWPE level III plate with the size of my laptop so that I can insert it in my laptop backback.
GREAT VIDEO!! I WOULD HAVE LIKED TO SEE THE TEST WITH FMJ AS WELL. BECAUSE WE KNOW BAD GUYS SPEND $1+ A ROUND. I THINK FMJ IS MORE LIKELY WHAT YOU WOULD ENCOUNTER.
I seen a armor video were they strapped the armor to big water jugs removed the top. Fill full. The water "shows" how much more back face force it has between each caliber. Then they hit the jug plain with a rubber hammer and a bat. Most handguns are like being hit in the ribs or gut with a bat if your wearing armor.
It's a backpack, so I would put a large thick book in the back pouch with some denim on both sides to slow the bullet down even more.if you can afford it I would recommend it not perfect but better than nothing.it's like carrying a gun any caliber is better than none.
@@jimfisher9680 it's 22 pounds with all 4 plates. The soft armor is 7 pounds and fits easily under a coat or jacket. I wouldn't want to have to do a ton of running in the plates but not impossible.
@The Weapon Collection in OIF most Corpsmen stated that wounds treated were gun shots to the lower armpit area. Now, that was due to guys having to clear buildings with rifle raised. Having the side plates gives that little protection... in TEOTWAWKI situations LOL!!
I'd be interested to see how it would stop some rifle rounds with a textbook or a laptop inside. If you're wearing a backpack its most likely carrying something in it of the sorts.
Glad you tested the five seven on the backpack and you should definitely do a 5 7 test with different types of bullets and different guns pistol and the P90 different barrel lengths and ballistic gel behind the armor
idk if i would say you would survive just because it stopped the round. the trauma alone from that is serious shit. you have a better chance but that could still stop your heart or cause other serious effects.
@@adrianrobertsdarthius666 I know they will stop .22 and 9mm for sure. I haven't tried with my 5.56 AR yet... My prediction is my green tips will sail right through it! 😁 Edit: I just lost my guns in a boating accident, I guess I won't get a chance to try! 😭
I would like to see this test with the backpack full of heavy text books file papers and maybe a laptop or tablet just to see how that would impact the impact of the rounds on armor
Always said i was more scared of what ammo was being used rather than the gun itself... so many people want to carry a gun but no nothing about the ammo which again is scary to me. They want to protect themselves and people but using the wrong ammo is actually putting everyone in danger.
Call it what it is stealth armor. I personally like the idea for kids at school since they will not allow our kids to defend themselves with a firearm. At least this gives the kids a chance when some fool goes hunting for easy prey in a "Mass Shooter Friendly Zone" .
Love to see how it would have handled Fort Scott Munitions 9 MM or 10 MM these are rounds, that seem to out preform all others. They are by far the best self defense rounds I have tried. Again great video!
I wonder if the bag manufacturer could decrease the point load on the backside with a thin layer of neoprene on the person side of the bag. It would certainly feel better as an everyday bag with a little more give between you and even the soft armor.
Would love to see a 5.7 vid i think it’s a awesome round would like too have it chambered in a rifle for predator hunting that round reminds me a lot of the Remington 5mm round
Please test again with some text books, I think they could make a serious difference in its effectiveness and show a more accurate representation of it in use
I once carried a Norinco mod 54 as my car gun. That damn thing would punch through two foot thick live oak, it sure as hell would have done for some ijit trying to oppose me from behind a car door.
I would think my daughter with a couple text books and notebooks as well as a laptop on top of the armor, would improve this to 223 rating if not 7.62x39 and probably help with the impact trauma. If love to see this kind of real world test.

Could you test it again with a few text books in there?!

@The Weapon Collection Man, I just got out of college a few years ago and I had a sea of text books. Times have changed.

I was wondering hoping you would test the FN 5.7, you did not disappoint!
Having a laptop or a bunch of books in the bag would probably help a bit on the kinetic smack

This is a genius thing for EDC I never thought of. I feel like everyone in my family needs some soft armor in their backpack now!
@Mr. Chad Thanks for the tip man. Honestly I would probably just buy panels and put them in normal backpacks before I would buy a premade one though.
