Love this video! The only thing do not shake the polyacrylic, my husband is a professional painter and said never shake always stir this type of paint. I made sure to ask him before I made my ornaments this way!
If I stain my wood then add Polyacrilic can I still sublimate on it? Also where could I purchase glitter sublimation mugs from? Thank you! I love your Video’s
Hi Beverly! Sublimation paper tends to stick to polycrylic coated wood because the heat used to adhere the design starts to melt the polyacrylic . The glitter sublimation mugs were purchased right from Amazon. Thank you for your kind words and if you have any questions, just shout! - Dawn
Thank you for the video. I have watched a few using polycrylic but most forget to mention which one, there are several types ie: gloss, semi-gloss, flat, matte. So which one is highly recommended?
Thanks for the information. Question: what kind of paper did you use? Printer? Ink? (There are so many different techniques and I’m a beginner. Details are appreciated.)
Hi there! Can I use polycrylic on a flat wood bead that I intend to sublimate on? I wish to make a bracelet. I will only put the polycrylic on the side where I'm sublimating, therefore it shouldn't be in direct contact with the skin of the recipient. what are your thoughts? Thank you
That’s really great. Would you put on another coat of poly after you sub if you’re going to hang something outside? Also I have spray Minwax Helmsman Spray. I assume that would work.
Hey Stephanie, I'm not sure about the second coat but I imagine it couldn't hurt. If hanging outside, I would either spray with a UV shield or make sure it's not in direct sunlight, the UV rays will fade the sublimation ink. Hope this helps! ---Becky
I am desperate to find my answer but what kind of paper and what kind of ink are you using? I have been using durabrite in my Epson printer and heat transfer paper (not HTV). 375 degrees for 25 seconds medium pressure on the heat press. Am getting some smearing/blurring and sometimes the paint comes up (but the paint coming up actually looks ok - rustic in appearance)
Hey Linda! This is sublimation ink and sublimation paper. But I have another alternative for you if you are using an inkjet printer: try temporary tattoo paper. I'll link you to a tutorial for a similar project. Hope this helps! ---Becky ua-cam.com/video/_P9BxYJVZvw/v-deo.html
I usually use A-Sub paper from Amazon but have recently been using cheaper alternatives for testing (also from Amazon) and so far, they all seem to be working well. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hi Becky!! I’m sooo excited!! I’ve been trying to figure out how crafters were getting images on wood lol!!! Can I ask you though - is a “special” sublimation ink or printer needed???
Yes sublimation is a special ink, paper and printer, and a heat press that goes to at least 400f, and only transfers onto polyester or high poly content blends. There are lots of videos about this craft on Google and UA-cam. Enjoy researching!
@@Telessa1974 Thank you Telessa, for your reply!! I do have the 9” Heat Press - I just don’t have the Printer. I’m guessing it’s probably on the “kind-of-expensive” side, as well right?? 😬
@@valeriepanzarella921 You are so welcome. It doesn't have to be. You can covert some ink jet printers. Like those with ecotanks. But once you set it up and get it figured out, you have so much fun. T-shirts in full color, socks, jewelry, keychains, cozies, keychains, headbands, photos...endless!
Hmmm, I have only heard of this in situations where the wood wasn't dry all the way through. I'll add this to my research list. Thanks for sharing! ---Becky
You mention acrylic, I am trying everything to try and get a succesful resultwith sublimation on acrylic with no success. I am wantng to sublimate on acrylic circles for cake toppers. please help. thanks :)
I stop using it because you really don't get good results as you would with laminated sheets.. And you have to mention the type of wood to get. I found that Birchwood comes the closest to getting a somewhat good result. It does not work well on all wood. I didn't like the way kept sticking that you have to go and wash it off too much of a bother

I realize I'm kinda off topic but does anyone know a good place to watch new series online ?
@Shane Kye flixportal :P
@Jadiel Ethan Thank you, signed up and it seems like a nice service :) Appreciate it!!
@Shane Kye no problem :D
Oh no! Sooo many ideas! Earrings, pendants cut on a scroll saw. Matching game for children, even flashcards. Thank you so much for the hack!!!
I just love Becky tutorials!!!!
Thanks for watching!
“Hey, I might need that again! “ said every crafter ever! Lol
So glad someone shared this with me. Do you do it the same way if your wood is painted?
I love poly acrylic for finishes on wood projects. I wonder if the spray wood work as well?
Love it. Thank you for the ideas and the tutorials. You are fantastic!
This is great! I have seen where you can use laminate also.
Me too. Been wanting try it and polycrylic. Thanks Becky 😊
I have the same blood type as you 😉!
Hi Becky,
What a great idea !!! What temperature did you use your easy press and how many seconds?
She said 385 for 60 seconds
I love that she has the Silhouette Business Edition like I do so I can easily follow along with all her videos
Glad it was helpful! 😊
I loved this and the bookmark video.. thank you for bringing us great tutorials
Girl, you've just opened up another idea to use up the scraps of basswood I have. Lol!
Thanks!😊

Have you tried this on glass? I'm desperate to find a way to sublimate onto a large jug for a change jar. Any ideas? Thanks!!
Wow that’s a great idea. Thanks! I always enjoy your videos.

Hey Brenda, it probably depends on the type of finish you want for your project. This one I used says Clear Ultra Flat. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Hi Becky! Do you pre-press the wood with the polycrylic on it before you sublimate the designs onto it? I love your videos!!
Love it thank you
You are so welcome!
will this work with cricut infusible ink? polycrylic sublimation
Ahh I love this! Is it possible for the polycrylic to peel off over time? Or sealing should prevent that? I hope. 🤞
Hi Becky, have you tried having a white background, rather than seeing wood? like apply white primer and then polycrylic over it?
We haven't yet, but we can give that a try! Thank you for the suggestion!

WOW. What a great idea. Do you think you could do it on canvas?
Thanks for another great tutorial.
I have not tried the polycrylic on canvas yet Gerry but I will now! Thanks for the question! ---Becky

Would this work on wood that had been stained or painted prior to applying polycrylic?
Hey Angela, I have not tried but I believe so. Hope this helps! ---Becky
I love the look of these. Can you tell us the sublimation paper you used? Thanks.
She used A Sub Sublimation paper.
What kind of paper did you use for the design? Sublimation brand paper?
Can I usw this for underlayers for glasses?
Did you print with a sublimation printer or an inkjet?
Hey Karen, this is printed using a sublimation printer. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Can you use the polycrylic spray? That is what I bought.
Can I use the polycrylic matte finish?
What was the settings on the heat and for how long?
Can you paint the wood prior to the polycrylic?
I can’t wait to try this! What temperature did you have the heat press set to, and how long did you press it?
She said 385 for 60 seconds

I want to try this on wood slices! How long do you wait between the last coat of polycrylic and applying the sub heat transfer?
I would make sure it is dry. :)
Can you put polyacrilic on painted wood and then sublimate?
Think we could do the same thing with regular wood earrings?
Love your designs! Very interesting tutorial, willing to try ASAP. Thank you Becky & Design Bundles.
What type of paper did you use? Also, the type of printer...laser or inkjet?
Your printer has to be set up with sublimation ink or you can use sublimation markers for your images.
Are these waterproof when done? Could you make an outdoor sign with this method?
Hey Jen, I haven't tested it but yes, it should be, since a lot of crafters use Polycrylic to seal their crafts. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Are you using sublimation ink in the Epson printer? Are you using regular printer paper or transfer paper?
Hey Linda, I am using sublimation ink in an Epson printer and sublimation paper. Hope this helps! ---Becky
So cute❤️
GRACIAS AMIGA NICE
You're welcome!
Can you stain the wood first then polyacrylic them?
Hi Tracey! We recommend waiting 24 hours for the stain to completely try before using the polycrylic.
Do you know if you can use the spray policrylic?
Hi Jana! You could use the spray but I would be cautious as I don't think you would get the same even layer of coating - Dawn 🥰
Can you sublimate on galvanized metal or aluminum? Like the Dollar Tree signs?
No, not without coating the material with something that can bond with the ink. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Does this work with vibrant colors?
Yes! It will work with brighter colors but anything close to white won't be printed - Dawn
Thank you
I like this one too. I would have panicked! Lol
Can you put another coat of polycrylic to seal it ?
Can you use infusible ink with this procedure?
Hey Rhonda, it should work the same although I haven't tried. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Can you put a hot cup of coffee on them without it marking the varnish,?
Has anyone tried this with the spray polycrylic of the same brand?
What type of paper did you use?
I usually use A-Sub paper from Amazon but have recently been using cheaper alternatives for testing (also from Amazon) and so far, they all seem to be working well. Hope this helps! ---Becky
Does your easy press actually heat to 385? mine only heats to 360.
Hi there! You may want to reach out to Cricut as their heat presses are supposed to heat all the way to 400 degrees! - Dawn

You can, just make sure it does not have a wax coating.
@@DesignBundles Thank you so much for the reply.
nice

How many seconds did you press at 385?
She said 60 seconds.
I tried on pine wood that had been around a very long time and it pulled sap out of the wood and scorched in those areas.

Can use polyurethane instead?
