- Police in Manchester intercept moped thieves riding dangerously in this crazy video of moped thieved being caught.
In a video captured in North Manchester on May 12, two mopeds are seen driving side-by-side and veering across Hollinwood avenue in the Moston neighbourhood.
As the mopeds stop at a roundabout, they are intercepted by two off-road motorbikes, apparently belonging to Greater Manchester Police.
One moped rider crashes into the plain-clothes police officer and runs off, while the other - carrying two people - is restrained by another officer.
Shortly afterwards, a marked police motorbike appears. Seeing one of the suspects escaping, it speeds off in chase.

People like these are the reason you should be able to do "whatever" it takes to stop them.
you can and are, dont mistake inaction as a lack of self defense, if confronted or you are to confront with intention to prevent further harm, your are well within your own right to use whatever (reasonable) force necessary to handle the situation, sadly we live in a generation where people would rather pull their cameras out than to actually intervene, those people make me sick

Autistler you do realise he's not referring to that, he is referring to the fact in london you can't pursue motorcyclists if they don't have a helmet on (which one didn't in this) you are ORDERED to call off the pursuit if one of them lacks a helmet, that rule luckily doesn't apply to the rest of the uk.
the police have been sued in the past thats why, if the police in london were properly backed up and not liable for prosecution if shit hits the fan and a thief dies the maybe more will be done to stop them. also these lot were literally just taking off from the light if moped thieves are stationary at a light and police are right behind them they 100% are allowed to take them down. and guess what if the police in Manchester gave a moped thief brain damage they can be sued no matter where they are
It doesn't matter if they are stopped at a lights, sure the police can try and take them down but i can assure you now, their "Dispatch" (the other officer at the end of the radio giving them assistance) will be against them continuing the pursuit, the police have been sued before and sure it hasn't worked but the police have then had huge backlash for escalating situations, i don't agree with it but it's the law, also it does matter where they are because in manchester they don't have a bunch of dumbasses in armchairs saying "This is bad" policing in manchester is way different to policing in london.

Its about engine capacity, mopeds are less than 50cc and are limited to about 30mph. Scooters are not that restricted.

i think in this situation the police have taken over control of the road. The public know to distance themselves from a violent incident. Also the police prioritise dangerous motorcycle thieves over someone cautiously crossing a red light.
Fair play to the police. I love that on Manchester it's an officer on a trial bike literally grabbing their collar, whereas in London they've taken to hitting them with cars.
