- Hey everyone!! Today I’ll be testing out an eyeshadow palette dupe! The Natasha Denona Metropolis Palette was one of my favorites last fall, and now Alter Ego has created a dupe! It's amazing how many dups there are for the super expensive pallettes out there. The quality is usually spot on, as well!
Wouldn't be surprised if some are even made in the same factory.
@@JasperisCasper looking at the ingredients list I doubt it. Artemis subs in dimethicone and artificial mica (the latter isn't a bad thing), but they do have similar primary ingredients.
How do the Alter Ego brushes compare to other high end ones? What would their dupe be?
The quality is not spot on. I beg to differ. Watch these pallets being compared in Glitzy Fritzy’s video with live searching comparisons and live look comparisons.
With this dupe you have to apply A LOT more eyeshadow, to get even close to the OG Metropolis. You get a similar vibe but nowhere near the formula. Pigment costs money, so you get what you pay for, in my opinion.

Sorry to disappoint but Natasha Denona and Pat McGrath are made in Italy. Good cheaper brands like Colourpop and good mid brands like KKW are made in California. Alter Ego is made in China.
Many times, you get what you pay for.
Dupe yes!!! 😘😘😘 I probably will never be able to afford a Natasha denona palette so I’m glad I have the option of choosing the alter ego palette that has similar color scheme 🙂
Alter ego also has a dupe for the abh sultry it's called temptress I duped all of these palettes as well but as well as allie though
Just bought my first ND palette with a bday gift card. Its just eye shadow. My Colourpop shadows are just as good. Not life changing at all. Don't sweat it girl! 🤗
@@amylewis7563 I just want to thank you for saying that, because a lot of influencers are like "ooh aah it will change your eyeshadow game" when it barely does.
Again, this girl has gorgeous eyes & can wear any color, any way. Great dupe because I wouldn't spend $129 on an eyeshadow palette even if I could.
GIGI 1 you would be surprised what you will do and I have started buying less palettes and use hers more also her stuff has at least 24 months before it says it goes bad
rachel Crawford that’s all palettes tho. At least most of them. Also in practice, no one actually stops using palettes after 1-2 yrs because it “expired”. People usually go by smell, feel, color, and performance more than the manufacturers expiration date. Personally I have the money but I’ve found excellent quality in less expensive high end brands like melt, ABH, kaleidos etc. so imo it’s unnecessary to drop almost $130 on one palette. If the color story ever appealed to me I would by her $65 or $25 ones tho. I like that she has variety.

Powder can last over two years it’s not like foundation or mascara. If you clean your brushes constantly and have good hygiene you won’t have any problems with bacteria

I have their Goddess (Gold) palette, the Daydream (Huda New Nudes) and I just got this one (Artemis) today. They are all so good.

Also Focallure is one of my go-to brands for eyeshadow palettes. They don't dupe others but their palettes are really good at such low price

I have wanted Metropolis since it launched, and I was this 🤏🏻 close to just saying “F it” and spending the money when I got the email from Alter Ego about the Artemis. I immediately ordered it because FATE. I’m beyond excited to get my hands on this!

Usually with the dupes they dont have good staying power unfortunately.. so I'd be curious about that too

AMAAAZIIING OMG !!! These colors goes so well together and you definitely don’t see the difference from this far but that green in the outer corner is more pigmented in the ND palette for sure but other than that its pretty similar Im shocked !!! Love this - I still feel torn though when I see brands just blatantly rip off another brands palette. It must feel awful for the original brand owner when they put all the work and creativity into coming up with the palette shades and then someone else just sneaks in and copies them .... but then on the flip side.. I love how these copy brands can prove that the same products can be made for a fraction of the cost and makes the same look attainable to everyone. x

I totally get the torn feelings. Though, I personally don’t think it’s as big of a deal seeing how Natasha Denona is so expensive. If someone was willing to spend that much money I really don’t think the cheaper option would sway them. I think the ones buying this dupe wouldn’t be buying ND anyways. At the same point dupes are in everything. Even food at the grocery store. I think as long as they aren’t copying the packaging and the name 100% it’s fair game.

So, the brand owner isn't usually the one coming up with the ideas for the palette. And you can't really copyright a color. Well you could but realistically people would still use it cause that's ridiculous lol. Ultimately dupes are just providing a service for people to get the same look for less. The reason it's less is because they use cheaper materils. Ultimately what Alter ego did is fair game, they aren't passing their product off as a fake and they went as far as to make their own theme for the product.

I love the alter ego eye primer, and their liquid lips are amazing too. I have yet to be disappointed in anything I’ve bought from them!

They’re really good. Not super drying kind of matte more like a velvety satin matte. Not transfer proof. But very comfy and long lasting.

Such a pretty look! Might try to recreate this look with another palette. I don't have the ND palette (it's so expensive) but this looks just as good. I doubt that it's available for Europe, so fingers crossed they ship overseas one day.

Dani Cee yes and her cream to powder formula is a little different to use you can not just use a fluffy brush and make it work, you need a dense brush
@@rachelcrawford1977 I know, that's not what the reviews that were critical were saying though. I have this palette and I really like it, I use my fingers and the cream to powder formula works fine. the more you use it, the easier it is to pack onto the eyes

I’ve been eyeing this palette on their website but I’m still so nervous to pull the trigger. Allie always seems more trusting in terms of YOUTube I don’t know why. Maybe I’ll try it!! It is BEAUTIFUL and the color story is everything. If there’s any Natasha palette I’ve wanted- it’s metropolis!
