I like that you mentioned the visual weight of shoes. I think when selecting shoes we don’t always recognize why a shoe doesn’t look right with an outfit when it’s the right color and “should” work.
What helped me wear loafers without tearing up my feet, especially when walking a mile to work in NYC, is using heel cups. They reduce the rubbing of the shoe on your skin and won’t cause blisters from that.
the OG best loafers: GH Bass Weejuns!! I'm usually a 71/2-8 and DSW had an insane sale and the only one left was an 8w. I took the chance, put a little sticky cushion on the inside heel and they ended up being perfect. This was over 5 years ago, and they are going strong and super comfy...just need to get them re-soled.
I've had mine for nearly 20 years, and did not listen when told that I should just get rid of it, because I don't wear it "all the time". I wear it when I feel like it 😏
I have found two loafer styles that are super comfortable and soft right out of the box and don’t slip on my heels or rub blisters there or anywhere. As an added bonus they are sleek/low profile/elongating and not at all clunky, so they do add some polish and elegance to jeans & other casual outfits. Both are by Sam Edelman. The Loraine and the Lucca. Soooooo many colors & patterns. Pricey (~$150) but not sky-high and have proven to be worth it to me in longevity/cost-per-wear.
I used to love skinny jeans and wore them for years... I am so over it.. I love wide leg and straight ankle length jeans... so I am with you about the jeans.
I have a lot of skinny jeans but having thought about it, and in looking at the picture you posted of the jeggings versus the straight jeans, they're really more straight leg jeans because they're not tight. They're not jeggings which I think are sort of old fashioned looking.
Absolutely agree wih dressing up denim jeans. One of my favourite piece that I work with. I learnt more about what denim jeans to buy from your videos and now I have the best selection. No skinny jeans in sight. Never thought that would happen. Thank you!
Wooooooooo hoooooooo!! I'm still looking!! OH! OH! Thank you for reminding me! I've gotta grab a bag to return to Target when I go to town this morning! 😂
You look the best having red lips👍 I wear Teva Hurricane sandals when traveling. They actually don’t look too bad with trousers and skirts. I also love low profile Converse chuck taylor style canvas sneakers. They are not chunky or heavy, go with lots of styles.
This autumn’s trending colors are classic for the fall season and very wearable. Browns, khaki-green and burgundy are always in my wardrobe, so I had lots of great items in them already. But, when colors like these I like are trending, it’s just so much easier to find them, especially for footwear and accessories. I have a pair of burgundy leather knee-high boots on the way to me, after searching for this color for years. Most seasonal color trends are difficult to wear or style, like the yellows, oranges, hot pinks and purples we’ve seen in recent years, so I’m happy to see these, more versatile and wearable, colors at last. Purples are in my recommended “Summer” palette, but I always found them so difficult to style that I ended up dropping them.
As a mom I really appreciate this theme. I don’t want to look ratty but heels aren’t in the wardrobe right now. Everytime i throw on a trench coat it adds a layer of polish.
I found a beautiful pair of black leather loafers from Coach, very comfortable. Also a pair of burgundy & white leather loafers from GH Bass. Both were a little pricey but worth it to me as are classic shoes, investment purchases.
Glad hurricane didn’t hit you. It was rough in Cocoa Beach. Somehow we didn’t lose electricity, and no real damage, (except for breaking my toe getting ready) so actually feel pretty lucky. No pointy shoes for a bit. 😂I scored multiple new suede jackets on Poshmark. Like new for $15-$20! ❤️
Poor you. I stupidly broke three toes walking into my coffee table that someone had moved a little! I was almost immobilized for two months, which surprised me, then I realized my “flat” shoes (Birkies) and slippers (Steggmann’s wonderful wool clogs) weren’t really flat at all but kept bending my poor toes up a bit. When I finally got that orthopedic boot, they healed up super-fast (it took ages because it was during the pandemic and I was supposed to stay at home, but had to hobble into the medical office eventually to get fitted). Feel better soon, glad you escaped damage and are safe🙂
I get so much from your videos! They keep improving and becoming more "teacher girl style" friendly for me. I can not find a jeans video but all yours look so HIGH and I would love some links please.
Brilliant video featuring all my favourite looks, thank you Anna! Your hair's grown so fast, looks fabulous and very quiet luxury/rich mom. I invested in 2 beautiful suede jackets, one from Zara, which sold out immediately, and one from Massimo Dutti, also in 2 suede bags. Unfortunately we went straight from summer to winter here in London, it's rare we have a mid-season when we can wear blazers and jackets, let alone delicate, not-rainproof suede, so I only managed to wear my Zara suede jacket once to go to have my eye test (Celine Triomphe sunglasses both in black and tortoiseshell) - my optician complimented me on the suede jacket as well as the Celine specs. I'm very short sighted with an "important" nose so the Celine sunglasses with prescription lenses will hopefully give me a current, flattering look for years to come and worth the investment. Both jackets and sunglasses were an expensive buy for me but I needed something to make me look fresher and more youthful because I feel I've really aged in the past year and look a bit dull (I'm 58 and it's true what they say, that there'll be one year in your life when you age really fast and this has been my year unfortunately).
I love these tips! I’ve found that nice nails (painted or just manicured) and go-to jewellery really helps me feel more elegant and put together. I have an earring set of small hoops and studs. I have them in permanently and just swap the hoops if I feel like putting in effort. If my nails look terrible I just feel like a self-conscious troll 😂
I love your videos. I always get lots of inspirational ideas. I bought a new pair of jeans, high waisted wide leg and there just like the ones I wore in 1970. I feel kind of weird when I wear them because it brings back memories. I was in high school back then.😊
My most comfortable loafers are from Coach. I like my Gucci loafers and they are comfortable, too. My Coach loafers are like walking on little pillows. They provide a different look, though. It depends on my outfit.
Coach leather is top tier❤ I find discounted pairs but would say they are probably one of the few worth their retail price. It's been years but if I need to replace, I will buy Coach again
I'm glad I never bought into the overly distressed/embellished denim trend. I do really like a colored pant (not blue, white or black denim) & love green, brown or camel denim jeans. I have the basics in denim covered & now just want a wide leg or a colored denim pair. Sneakers are a little more challenging since I often need a wide due to orthotics. I really want a suede pair in brown or maroon.
Absolutely love this video! Love love your coverage of whats in for fall and putting outfits together. Your tips help me shop from my closet and elevate my look. Thank you! ❤
I love your style and your videos ❤️ Would you ever consider doing maybe a seasonal bonus video for the peeps that also live in Florida? My struggle is incorporating these seasonal trends to fit our weather.
Thx for the video, Anna! My wardrobe has gaps & I need to shop to change that! I always need inspo. Unlike most women, I don’t like to shop. Love your vibe. Have an awesome day!
I hate shopping, too, but I love getting the loot! It has to be online for me these days, shops are always so overheated and it ends up that they have to order and send the correct size anyway.🙂
I agree with the loafers issue! You would think they would be comfy shoe, but they are always slipping off my heel or doing something wrong! And, NO to jeggings! I don’t care who you are😆
I have one pair of skinny jeans left, they are real denim not jeggings. I use them for my knee high boots, I have 3 pair of boots that I wear them with I love the look.
YES! It's almost like jodhpur jeans lol.. My legs are so skinny..(wait...may I say slender instead?) that they aren't that skinny on me. My figure is like one of those popsicles that are rectangle & have 2 sticks for sharing. Picture it? 🤣😄 So fitting the top is larger than the leg!
For the MOST part Yes!! Then there comes a tipping point where brand starts to tip over the top. I mean, there's only SO much quality one can put into a shoe. For example: hide from the calves of cows who've only given virgin birth, worked ONLY by 6th generation or better leather craftsmen on the eastern slopes of the Italian Alps. 🤣😄🤣
Thank you for you video, like always! Could you please point me in the direction of good jeans - the ones you’re talking about? (not distressed, solid color, classical good fit and length)… I’ve been looking high and low, but did it find anything 😢
VELVET jackets/suits/trousers are a more polished alternative to corduroy, but it needs to be matte velvet, not the shiny variety. Anna please could you feature these in a future video, Mango and Massimo Dutti, Bella Freud and Marks & Spencer's in the UK sell them. I also found a fab thrifted midnight blue velvet blazer online by Zadig & Voltaire which I snapped up immediately and fits me perfectly, it reminds me of last year's Tom Ford's midnight blue velvet trouser suit.
I saw a guy at a concert wearing the cutest blue velvet blazer. It would’ve fit me, I swear 😂😂. I’ve been looking in the men’s sections to try to find that dang thing. It was this gorgeous matte In between royal and navy color. It’s an ongoing joke with our friends now that if we see that guy again at the concert venue I’m getting that jacket 😂😂
Another very helpful vid! Thank you. You mentioned your concern about sounding repetitive regarding certain trends, but I think most of us find that quite helpful. It gives us confidence & variety in how to integrate a trend.
The older I get the more my tones change and with gray hair, the jewel and dark tones no longer suit me so well. I still love them and don't want to give them up so I use separates and make sure the layer close to my face is a lighter flattering color that works well with the darker colors.
Anna - Another helpful video! Is there any way you can give the info on what you are wearing in your illustration clips? You look great and I'd love to have the links or where to buy! Thank you!
I love your point of view on fashion, Anna. You mentioned loafers, and I can't find narrow sizes, or a few are sold out. I have a narrow heel and medium size won't cut it for me. (Plus I have longer toes, ha!). You always seem to give me good advice. I enjoyed your seeing your trip on the train, my husband is a "train" guy. You looked great in your total brown outfit, I can see why your got compliments. (I bought the brown/black purse you suggested, So attractive and does fit more than what I thought when I first saw it).
I definitely need to update the athletic shoe situation .. lol. I do - always - wear athletic shoes with almost everything, but I see that I can still do that with a lighter version. Shopping! Must go shopping 🙂
Can you share which train (company) that was you used in Perú? Looks amazing and I'm very tempted as I got sick on my way to Machu Picchu last time. Completely non-fashion related 😅 but travelling in style is equally important, isn't it? Thx xx
Where did you get the dark wash straight leg jeans? I have been looking forever! Lots of brands describe jeans as "straight leg" but they are still very skinny!
I’m hoping to find a dark, chocolate, brown (genuine) suede blazer-style jacket this autumn, but they do sell out so fast. I do already have a brown smooth genuine leather jacket from Quince, it’s great, but I still want a suede one, too. I love the slightly softer look of suede, especially in black, as tough or edgy dark leather moto jackets are not my style.
Ouch! Does this mean that "the wrong shoe" is no longer elegant? I was hoping the lug sole loafers would still work with with heavier fall fabrics. I have developed an aversion to ankle pants, so I am hoping that covering more of the heavier shoes will help me get another year out of those shoes. And my activities are probably more sporty than elegant. My 67-YO arthritic feet certainly prefer sporty to elegant. And my artistic/creative self prefers color over elegance. Awe heck... I have to watch this at least twice more to catch the balancing of the details. You did another great one. There is so much depth that I simply cannot absorb everything in my first watching. Comfy Loafer Source: Bionic makes a loafer called "Uptown" in leather or suede in 22 colors. Arch support, sneaker soles, wide width availability and soft leathers make these packable and wearable. It's even available in a warm snakeskin pattern. Classy. More elegant than a sleek sneak. BTW: Your vacation looked amazing.
Love Vionic! There is always some nuance and balancing that go with every outfit and it really depends on the vibe you're going for. I was trying to show the big thick very casual boots. Loafers are almost always a classic / elegant look unless you're talking about the 5 inch platform ones 😃❤️
I like that you talk about the current fashion trends and use high fashion ideas but also use affordable brands like Kohls. I do not shop at Kohls or some of the more affordable shops but i like that you give these as examples for those who can not afford designer. FYI: I am not apposed to cost effective shopping. When i look for affordable i go to ebay, Postmark or thrift shops. I realize these would probably not be the ideas for your videos.
If they are a timeless style and well-made (which is tough to find these days), that is not a bad price. Amortized over even 5 years (or more like 15-20 years in my closet) the cost-per-wear would be great, even if they were only worn twice a week AND considering the cost to get them resoled once or twice.
Tori Burch doesn’t care that we say no to the price of her loafers because there are plenty of other people saying yes. Have you ever bought ANY clothes or shoes for that price or more? Not me. Lol My frugal brain won’t allow me to. These fashion videos are warming me up to it though! Hahaha
You're right, they aren't cheap, as I mentioned in the video! Even tho they are on sale right now, but unfortunately for me if I buy shoes that are uncomfortable but cheap they just end up being a waste of money ❤️
Cheap shoes can be comfortable and last long time too, I know because I've never spent more than $50 for any shoes unless boots. I've walked all over Europe in my Reeboks or Sketchers or Born or Clarks😊
I don't love loafers. My version of a comfortable shoe is a pointed toe, low heeled mule. Black, beige, brown, or navy. Matching socks to the shoe, or to the trouser, or the top. I buy a new pair whenever my old ones start looking worn. Love mules because there's no back to rub my heel, and I can kick them off and put my feet up.
Literally no one will ever convince me that the Canadian tuxedo is anything other than tacky, sorry. Never once looked at it and thought, "ooh, how elegant."
I have black suede Vionic loafer style flats. So stylish. Have a metallic pair from Naturalizer that are comfortable. Just bought dark brown penney loafers by Eastland. Franco Sarto is another good brand. Have 2 pair of those. Great video ! Love the fall outfits.
Great video, thank you. Are white or pastel jeans ok to wear for winter ? Any suggestions for little black dress (not cocktail but church, dinner event, funeral)? Thank you I live in the midwest.
Always so jealous of those who can wear browns and olives and all the fall colors. My skintone angrily disagrees with fall colors, lol. But great ideas here. as I get a little older, I realize how much I enjoy looking put together no matter what
I am so glad the darker, straight leg jeans are back. I guess I’ll be trendy now, because those are the only jeans I wear. I don’t like the shorter cardigans that much because I’m petite with a curvy figure, and it emphasizes my bum too much 🤷🏻♀️. I suppose some women would love to show off their butts, but, I don’t like the attention. It’s only for my guy!
Guys, please don’t wear ballet flat. I injured my foot wearing those about eight years ago when they were still popular . They have zero support - they are horrible for you. Now you can get a high end Loafer that has support But it will be more chunky Stop telling women to wear shoes.
I love you and always think you are gorgeous but I think I liked you better with the more natural look you had before. The tons of makeup, bright red lip, and shoulder pads are not doing it for you. You were more relatable before, just a beautiful woman with a good sense of style. Don’t lose what made you unique as the subscriber numbers go up.
I love the “Ralph Lauren” kind of vibe. That was my favorite style in the 90s and I’m so glad it’s coming back. 😂😂 totally showing my age RN 🤷🏻♀️
@@pamela5250 Me, too!!

Jeans correct length, would be so helpful please. Thank you for excellent fashion advice.
Love it! Great inspiration, thank you 👌🤩
Please give the link for the Tory Burch loafers
"Vionic" with a V for victory!!!! Not an autocorrected B .
Love Vionic! There is always some nuance and balancing that go with every outfit and it really depends on the vibe you're going for. I was trying to show the big thick very casual boots. Loafers are almost always a classic / elegant look unless you're talking about the 5 inch platform ones 😃❤️
Can you share the train company you traveled on and a few tips?
I like that you talk about the current fashion trends and use high fashion ideas but also use affordable brands like Kohls. I do not shop at Kohls or some of the more affordable shops but i like that you give these as examples for those who can not afford designer. FYI: I am not apposed to cost effective shopping. When i look for affordable i go to ebay, Postmark or thrift shops. I realize these would probably not be the ideas for your videos.
I love mixing high and low! It's definitely possible and just makes sense a lot of the time ❤️❤️
$358 for loafers? I think not.
If they are a timeless style and well-made (which is tough to find these days), that is not a bad price. Amortized over even 5 years (or more like 15-20 years in my closet) the cost-per-wear would be great, even if they were only worn twice a week AND considering the cost to get them resoled once or twice.
I’m 5’2 no ballet or any flats
I've walked all over Europe in my Reeboks or Sketchers or Born or Clarks😊
what style of sneakers is that, I don't see them on the adidas website? Link?
I can’t find the links😢
By the way…Kohl’s doesn’t do free returns!!
That was an expectedly abrupt ending. 🤣
J crew loafers are very comfortable in my experience
Are they cheaper?
Yes. I have the penny loafers. And you can likely find them second hand
Literally no one will ever convince me that the Canadian tuxedo is anything other than tacky, sorry. Never once looked at it and thought, "ooh, how elegant."
I agree, it doesn’t look right on me or I’m not styling it right. Not our personal preference!
Try the brand Vionic! They are good for your feet and super good looking!❤
I have black suede Vionic loafer style flats. So stylish. Have a metallic pair from Naturalizer that are comfortable. Just bought dark brown penney loafers by Eastland. Franco Sarto is another good brand. Have 2 pair of those. Great video ! Love the fall outfits.
Love Vionic!❤️❤️
Great video, thank you.
Are white or pastel jeans ok to wear for winter ? Any suggestions for little black dress (not cocktail but church, dinner event, funeral)? Thank you I live in the midwest.
The flag tho. Reminds me to say dress chic when you mail in your ballot or head to the polls!
I don’t think “edgy “ is trendy at all. It’s a class of it’s own 😂😂
Always so jealous of those who can wear browns and olives and all the fall colors. My skintone angrily disagrees with fall colors, lol. But great ideas here. as I get a little older, I realize how much I enjoy looking put together no matter what
👏👏👏
You are the bomb! Just gorgeous and a very classy lady!
Thank you! ❤️❤️
I see influencers trying to bring back the long cardigans… and I just think - nope, not for me.
I'm Short so I Need height, have to wear elevated/chunky
First!
I have always thought the jeggings look terrible on most people
They do 😃❤️❤️
@@ANNAREID29 😂
I have muscular legs and ballet flats do not flatter me 😢
Dark jeans wide legs are bellos 🥰
Tuck your jeggings into knee high boots.
You are so beautiful, so tone down the lipstick!
I’m not wishing to criticize, but I don’t think you realize that your lipstick is way too intense for close up shots
