- Hey guys! Today I am testing out the new Alter Ego Harmony eyeshadow palette- a supposed dupe for the Natasha Denona Retro palette. I have LOVED the retro palette since it was released- it is definitely one of the best berry toned palettes I've ever tried! But can this affordable option compare? I hope you enjoy this one! I honestly don’t understand why you don’t have a million subscribers. You are so thorough in your reviews and tutorials and one of the best influencers out there in my opinion. There aren’t many people out there doing true tutorials anymore and they are very helpful. You do so many wearable looks using colors that would typically be very intimidating. You have also introduced me to so many brands I’ve never heard of or tried before, especially K-beauty from YesStyle.
I agree! She will def have a million one day. Reminds me of Emily Noel - kind, drama free with thorough and trustworthy reviews.

I don't think you can see a difference but when I bought an ND palette and Alter Ego I think it was the GOLD palette I noticed the biggest difference in wear test. The Alter Ego never stayed on as long as ND and ND was smoother and just looked wonderful at the end of the day. the Alter Ego was indeed beautiful but wore off, smudged etc... so I stopped buying them and just bought the real thing and I am not a makeup snob I don't think but working 2 jobs getting up at 4am and not going to bed until 10pm I need that eyeshadow on all day I never reapply. Mileva, skin prep, such as primer, mixing with concealer, wetting, and setting spray can also make a huge difference with the dupes. Really setting spray may be all you need.
@@violetviolet888 I do all of the at yes. Still the higher end shadows last longer. I always try the dupe honest lol

Yes I have heard the same thing about the alter ego
I disagree about the colors between the Retro Palette and the Harmony Palette. I think that there is more than just a minor difference. The ND palette is more purple whereas the Harmony is more red based and the intensity and smoothness is nowhere near the ND one even with the layering.

The Alter Ego is lighter and brighter, especially in the pink tone. I like the ND color better but for the price dif I would still get AE.
I love both looks, just my opinion

Me too! I also seriously cannot support a brand that steals ideas from another brand and everyone seems to legitimise the theft of ND’s original work because she’s a bigger brand.
Weren’t these all the same people that supported an obscure brand that claimed ND stole their primer idea, even though the products looked nothing alike?
I will never support this brand. I’m fine with somewhat similar color stories, but this is actual copycat in my opinion.
I would rather buy ND, who has one of the best formulas in the market than invest in a morally bankrupt brand.

I LOVE Alter Ego pallettes. I too ordered the Harmony pallette. It's so nice to have a company that can make dupes for pallettes I just can't afford.
I ordered the Harmony palette the minute it popped up on the site. The Shadow Kiss palette is my all time favorite palette.
I’ve been wanting to try alter ego are they good? I know c color cosmetics is really good but I haven’t tried alter ego. C color duped the jeffree star blue palette and they nailed it. Those deep blues were on point there was just one shade that they didn’t nail and that was the deep blue metalic. I was really pleased. I also loved their clover dupe it even came in a cute “too faced” style tin.
I dont understand how you do it. You use a big brush in the outer corner of the eye and move it in circles. Yet the eye shadow forms a V. When I do that it gets blurry and all over the place. Definitely no V here!
I noticed you are using Sydney grace brushes more and more. Are they kind of replacing your rephr brushes in many cases?
I LOVE the Retro pallet and use it about once a week.
I have three Alter Ego pallets and love them all. Great formula.

It looks the same now - but how does it look after 6-8 hours? That is where quality shows.
My question would be is do they wear the same…?
Earlier this year i purchased an alter ego pallette. No nuance and poor wear time. I definitely don't get the buzz about them.

You can definitely see the difference between ND and Alter Ego. I have Retro and she is absolutely stunning.
I also literally hate this brand. It’s literally a brand that copy cats another, it’s plagiarism.
MyKit M, dupes are extremely helpful for those of us putting money in a retirement account.

This is not duping the vibe, like colorpop creating a similar palette. This is not like saying pastel palette and BH Lost in LA are dupes.
This is plagiarism. The brand exists only to steal another brand’s ideas and work. That’s it.

@@mykitm7104 I have a degree in design and am a professional designer. I have had my ideas "stolen". If your ideas are in the public realm and they're good, they will be "stolen". In this case they are color stories. There is no way around it unless you spend lots of money to protect it.

I think the colors in Alter ego palette are not as rich and nuanced as ND's Retro. But its nice that we have more choices, right ? :)
$52 is.not a subtle difference.... it is massive. Especially when they look so much alike.

You just settled something for me. I've been debating between the ND Dream and Huda Empowered for my Christmas list, but I think I am going to patiently instead. I already own the Retro or I would be picking the Alter Ego version up.
I'm curious how the Alter Ego formula last throughout a full day's of wear since you described the feeling of their "cream to powder" differently than ND? I always wonder because all of the videos I've seen of these almost dupes from you you've never shown the wear at the end of a video...
I noticed more differences in this Alter Ego palette and the ND original compared to their other palettes. I own the bronze dupe and the glam dupe as well as the ND palettes, and they are so similar they made me regret spending my money on the ND's!
Ooh I’ve been considering buying the glam, so maybe I should buy the AE version.

I feel like dupe palettes and products are like plagiarism or fake artwork or something. It should not be legal to take someone else's creative ideas and work basically for financial gain. I understand not everyone wants to buy Natasha Denona or can or whatever but idk, it seems shady af. Alter ego should be shut down. Clearly you purchase or get pr from both companies it's not like you're personally choosing alter ego over Natasha Denona or something I just think it's shitty to steal other people's work for financial gain.

I have been patiently waiting for this dupe palette from Alter Ego and I ordered it right away! I'm even more excited about it after watching your video Mandy! I actually like that the Alter Ego palettes are not as pigmented because I'm not that great at applying and blending eyeshadow.
Do yourself a favor and try Goose Creek Candles. They blow b&bw candles out of the water and have great sales all the time! Also, after slipping on ice and shattering my knee 2 yrs ago, my go to boot for winter is now a pair of Merrell winter hiking boots with ice proof soles(I now have ptsd whenever I have to walk over any ice patches) so they really help with that

I love that they both used the same palette and came up with completely different looks with lots of feedback on the colors in the palette.
Would it be possible to see more high end pallettes that Alter Ego has duped? I've loved the Sigma pallettes for years, but have never pulled the trigger on buying them due to the price. I've just recently subscribed to your channel and I'll look back on your videos to see if you have more like this. 👍
Mandy has posted the Alter Ego dupes with high end. The last one came out over a year ago July which was Glam palette dupe. Have to look back from there to see other vids 🤗

Karrina, eyeliner on the bottom is aging. Softer blended shadow as a liner has been in the last several years.
I love Alter Ego, as a vegan makeup lover, and I was SO excited when this dropped and bought it right away! It didn’t even occur to me to check the ingredients list, since all their other palettes are vegan, so when I did check and found Carmine, I was DEVASTATED! I don’t understand why they would choose to add Carmine when their entire previous line had been vegan! 😩 I’m heart broken and will be returning it once I receive it. A warning to all you fellow vegan makeup lovers out there excited for a vegan retro dupe: this is NOT VEGAN! 💔😥

Love the brand I wish they would go back to magnet palette like they had before cause that gave you the versatility of moving it around and making your own color stories especially now that they have such a great formula I would totally wish I could just take them out and put them all in my own little palette
Tonya Sullivan, you can take a hair dryer, warm the glue and pop them out, then put them in a magnetic palette.
