Catch Cook Adventure merchandise is now available on our online store - catchcook.com/...
CatchCook.com is a movement that promotes and rewards a primitive lifestyle where we take responsibility for what we put into our bodies, over unhealthy and unconscious consumerism. Most people believe that food comes from the supermarket, and this platform will aim to change that behavior by creating and sharing hunting, fishing, spearfishing, farming and gathering videos that promote and motivate a lifestyle free of processed foods, containing growth hormones, pesticides, antibiotics, chemicals and GMOs.

Nice video guys. I haven't caught crayfish by Kommetjie in a while. Just a pity the poaching is rife in that area. Really sad.

Nice vid guys, I've been free diving/catching Crays most of my life and one thing will always perplex me. Why is our East coast cray season closed while it's fair game on the West coast? While spear fishing Garrick yesterday, I saw a Cray bigger than my forearm and I wanted him so badly....alas, season closed until March. Oh well kray sura sura hahaha

Hi Gary, thanks for watching! The crayfish found on the west coast are a different species to the crayfish found on our east coast. ( West Coast Rock Lobster vs East Coast Rock Lobster.) Different bag, size and seasonal catch limitations apply to these two species.
For West Coast Rock Lobster, Management is through a Total Allowable Catch limit (subdivided across geographical areas according to stock size) and size limitations (minimum commercial size: 75mm, recreational: 80mm)

Great video guys. Crayfish gives me gout so I'm not missing out. Is it true, after new years day you can only catch weekends on recreational permit?

Why put them in boiling water. So unnecessary.
Much more humane to put them in fresh water and it euthanizes them within 20 mins stress and pain-free.
The added advantage is you can pack them more neatly in a pot.

Jy waar is jou kreef maat haak? Daar breek jy klaar die wet, dis 'n boete. En jul permits, waar is die invul van die tyd en plek voor jy in die water gaan?

At least brain them before you cook them alive, very easy to brain them...

part of the fun is putting them alive in boiling water. just kidding but have always put them straight into boiling water.

@@looiplooi Yup I know thats the "traditional way" But I guess people don't know the anatomy of the animal - brain is very easy to find lol.
We keep them alive in fresh salt water and then when they go on the braai or cooker, quick knife and sorted. More taste as well instead of putting them on ice after catch. Get a hatch or bucket with fresh salt water
