      Ya that's what cracks me up about martial arts. Instructors talk for 5 minutes before they show the technique. Cracks me up every time because it's all pretend, they'll never actually practice hitting the throat, eyes, or groin against someone trying to hurt them

    Fear was a big one for me. When I started, I would pull my punches. When I decided to commit to the punch I started landing and it felt great. What helped me with the fear was thinking to worst situations I’ve been in and thinking this is not as bad as that.

    1) Being out of range
    If you are not in range you won't be able to throw punches but when going in to the opponent you hit as well
    Falling step
    2) Footwork
    As soon as you are done throwing your punches in range quickly step out the area
    3) Use long range punches to get in and then throw short ranged punches
    4) work for speed and when you see the right opportunity throw the power punches and be unpredictable
    Punch with bad intentions and to go through your opponent
    5) don't have fear

    Hi Tony, Just found your channel today and finding these tips really useful, especially as a beginner so many thanks. However, one thing that really doesn't make sense to me is maintaing eye contact when sparring- My coaches are always telling me to stop looking down at the chest (which I do as it gives the best peripheral vision to see incoming punches)...But apparently this is incorrect and am told you need to make eye contact until committing to a punch... Can you maybe explain this a little as it just seems a little counter-intuitive to me?

    • @howtoeatchildren7679
      @howtoeatchildren7679 2 роки тому

      I was told a similar thing, and they are both equally good except that maintaining eye contact shows that you have more confidence, even if you don't. You can still see what they are doing fairly well either way.

      You’re speaking as if you guys regret that this filth hasn’t penetrated your countries yet🤔 I can’t really understand why Tony regularly uses this symbol in his vids about boxing - an art that has the least to do with what this signifies... Apart from that Tony’s vids are awesome though. Word up!

      @@maksimdmitriev3358 what do you mean? The Dark Side of the Moon is one of the best rock albums of all time! We have a saying in MX: if you're thinking of bread, It's beacuse you're hungry. lol

      @@ulises6442 I gotta admit that the media have done their job even though I consider myself to be abstaining from watching TV and consuming mass media products as much as possible: they washed my brain too and turned the symbol of purity, joy, spring and childhood, so basically all what rainbow is supposed to represent, into the the symbol of pervs trying to impose their sick view of the world around on other people. That sucks but what you’re gonna do.
      As far as Dark side of the moon is concerned, I cannot help agreeing. Pink Floyd is awesome!👍

    In my Gym I'm usually the only female boxer who is part of the sparring class. Because of this, there are very few people around my height/level so I end up sparring against guys who are all much taller with longer reaches than me, and then the strength difference is also a factor to consider. What are some good tips for fighting against a taller and then more experienced/stronger opponent? =D
