Amazing stuff Tony - an incredible teacher - thank you for all your content - very much appreciated - I'm 59 and work across the building entrance from an amateur boxing club. I've helped them get funding and my wife trains there twice a week and loves it. Wow thank you Tony Jeffries!!!! So simple yet brilliant. I am just a Polak that came to Chicago In 2000 at 16 years old and I am 160lbs serious cyclist and MTB biker but I needed something else for off season so I thought weight lifting and boxing were the most (anabolic opposed to catabolic cycling) practical and smartest sport winter options. It blew me away that I never heared of THINKING ABOUT DEFENSE IN WAY OF THROWING PUNCHES BEOFRE REALIZING WHAT TO EXPECT!!! obviously I am not cut out for that but I am so happy and privileged to subscribe to you and also read comments of other guys like myself that perhaps were afraid of going to boxing gym thinking we gonna get abused only to find out that most skilled boxers are most humble people BECAUSE they met their bullies that motivated them later on in life and realized it's not worh it. Boxing is like fencing sport. That realization made me understand what boxing intelligence is. I am going to buy some equipment and train during winters and falls. Tha k you all guys
@@ImToFlyDawg probaly very good. Even if you just know the basics of boxing (3 months of training 4 days a week for an hour) you would beat the fuck out of anyone who has no fighting experience, after you learn the basics, unless your trying to become pro I would recomend switching to other martial arts like jiu jitsu since grappling is very important in fights
@@jacklifeclone2463 I even think 3 sessions of boxing makes someone wayyyy more likely to win a fight. The average person just throws windmills which is unbelievably easy to counter
Of all of these, the most helpful to me was recording myself. It humbles you fast when you think you are a stud on the bags then you look at the footage and realize all the things you are doing wrong.
Hi Tony! I’m going to the gym for boxing classes just to get in better shape but I couldn’t do it without you and your videos and motivation!! I needed to find something fun to get me to the gym and you’ve made boxing fun!

Hi Tony, just wanted to say a big thank you for these videos and sharing your boxing knowledge. You've definitely helped me improve my skills, thanks a lot cheers pal 👍🏼
Tony Jeffries I am trying to get better and everyone keeps telling me to join a gym but I don’t have a local boxing gym and I am tight on money too and as of right now I am teaching myself to get better and studying fights and breaking it down and learning from those films.
Hi Tony im dean. I've recently started boxing with my pt and I love it. I bought a pair of 10 oz gloves thinking they would be the right size in ounces but they was too small, so I invested in some 14 oz rdx's. I enjoy watching your tutorials, thankyou for sharing your knowledge with us😊 Dean
I was more of a self taught boxer and just started officially training for boxing a couple weeks ago. My coach sees that I learn pretty quickly and have good movement but he and myself noticed I have a bad habit of bringing my hands back to my face after every punch and I stand incredibly tall. He warns me I’m gonna get caught one day in sparring with these bad habits so he said in my free time watch your videos😅🤷🏿♂️ Edit: I also bring my left hand down constantly after I throw the jab. Need some advice on how to break this habit 🤷🏿♂️😅
Took me 6 months to bring my hands to my face mate.. I would say practice practice... you can do a drill - where you place a glove or anything between your face and hands, that should not fall.. if it falls down you are lowering your arms mate
Just do jabs all day every day. Jab, snap back, pause. Jab, snap back, pause. Wash rinse repeat. Then do the same with dumbbells. This improves handspeed and also trains against arm fatigue
I am 54 and started training 3 weeks ago. I wanted to do pad work as I have heart failure (dilated cardiomyopathy) osteoarthritis and chronic anxiety (recovering alcoholic) so I need to work my whole body especially my heart muscle. My trainer said I need to learn how to box first !! So it's hard work and I love it but I have the problems on the list below. Bringing hands back to face, elbows in, fully extending my arm but my biggest problem is using my hips shoulders and feet properly. I need to turn on my toes when I throw a punch and I tend to slouch forward when I throw a punch. I beat myself up a lot for every mistake and it far more difficult than I ever imagined and I gas out a lot because of my weak heart but anyway next week I am moving up from 30 minutes to 1 hour sessions. It's 3 days a week and I will have 8 weeks done by Christmas so I should be more into it and a bit more fit. On non boxing days I do some physio which is the same as yoga. My girlfriend showed me how to do it properly as it is kind of rushed in the hospital. I do a bit of Qigong (Zhan Zhuang) which I have been doing off and on for over 10 years My trainer said to go easy on myself as it takes years. Anyway I thought I would put it out there because if I can do it anyone can and I found Tony Jeffries channel tonight for some tips. Peace 🥊☯
Learning from your videos has always been worth it. In particular, I specially learend about the importance of moving on my toes for better mobility and evasiveness. Thank you sir.
I have two thoughts. I used to wrap my hands when hitting the heavy bag. I do that three times a week and my hands were hurting all the time. I stopped and the pain went away. Also practicing 4 point combinations gave me a lot of freedom in sparring. I have like 4 in south paw and 4 in traditional stance. When I started to train these combinations I started to be creative in sparring sessions. It’s like my hands know what to do without thinking. I watched Tyson’s old heavy bag sessions and that gave me the idea. He also used a lot of four point combos.
I have to add that I don’t like pad work, I feel like it holds back creativity. But I also like to be punched in the face, so probably I’m a lunatic. Lol first time I sparred I had like a good jab and one-two, and a jab feint-bolo-jab-cross. Experienced fighters knew what will I throw after two trainings and they punished me with counters. I ate some and it made me smile lol. I was like let’s get it on mfs🤣 I knew this is the hobby I missed from my life. I grew up on jcvd and American ninja movies lmao
Hi Tony, thanks for the videos. I've been training and studying boxing for 25 years (which makes me a little old), have trained a few people, and yet I'm still learning all the time - especially your channel. I have a video request. Could you explain by laying out what you believe is a well-balanced week for someone who wants to stay in shape for boxing? What I mean, as you already know, is boxing is broken down into three disciplines or sub-disciplines. Technique, Strength & Conditioning, & Cardio. Of course, everyone is different, there is some overlap and other factors. I have found 3 x a week for at least 45-60min is a minimum for me. 1 day of roadwork jogging on grass or a treadmill as well as incorporating some footwork drills. 1-day Strength and Conditioning consisting of mostly bodyweight, compound exercises like squats, push-ups, plank, etc. (pilates is also excellent for core strength). 1 day working on the bag, including shadow boxing, drills, skipping, crazy bag, etc. Finally, I've found swimming, walking, dance, pilates/yoga are the most complimentary secondary exercises if able. So again, what does a typical, well-balanced week look like for you? Cheers from down under
Think about counter 😂😂😂 also i find as very important tip that wasn’t mentioned: dont hunch your shoulders & keep your core tight while being close (while striking). Btw thanks a lot for the videos i find myself lucky to discovering your channel right after i started to fully dedicate myself to boxing💪🏼
I’m trying to get really good at boxing and thanks to you have inspired me a lot and I have got pretty good you just earned yourself a new subscriber ❤
Thanks again Tony for the tips. I need to work my head movement in more than I do. I also have a bad habit of not keeping my shoulders loose. I just tense up to much but it is getting better with practice. Thanks again for sharing.
A bit of experience you say lol...You are a expert. Watch your vids alot. Hearing your boxing resume is very impressive you sir are a experrt and great teacher.Thank you for your great boxing videos. 🙏🏼💓
Hi tony. I have a request. What if you make a video how to increase endurance or defend again pain. As rocky movie said it not matter how strong you can hit but what matter is how much you can take hits. You are the best coach/ teacher/ trainer online I've seen
Thank you very much for this video. It really helped me with my beginner skills. I was looking for some not complicated, short and comprehensible video. It really shows you’re professional and you know what you’re doing. I really liked when you showed in the video people boxing. I had no idea that many people love boxing. I find it hilarious how there is “ think about” counter. I have one question for you. Where did i you buy your boxing gloves? I would like to buy them too.
I agree Filming Shadow-boxing helps to Improve your concepts at a very grass root level Also I got a question...Which bag do you think is best for practicing boxing at home?
Brilliant advice, too notch stuff would reccomend watching this before each training session to remind us of what we must concentrate on for maximum progression

Hi Tony im dean. I've recently started boxing with my pt and I love it. I bought a pair of 10 oz gloves thinking they would be the right size in ounces but they was too small, so I invested in some 14 oz rdx's. I enjoy watching your tutorials, thankyou for sharing your knowledge with us😊
Dean
Great video, I have been boxing for about 4 months and was never taught proper technique until this video
I was more of a self taught boxer and just started officially training for boxing a couple weeks ago. My coach sees that I learn pretty quickly and have good movement but he and myself noticed I have a bad habit of bringing my hands back to my face after every punch and I stand incredibly tall. He warns me I’m gonna get caught one day in sparring with these bad habits so he said in my free time watch your videos😅🤷🏿♂️
Edit: I also bring my left hand down constantly after I throw the jab.
I found your channel yesterday and I have watched so many videos because I just started boxing about a month ago so thank you for the great content
Tony, always great stuff my friend! Thank you.
Always taking the level better and better thanks coach
Thank you Coach 🙏
You are doing great work tony i cant think of anyone else that makes boxing more of a art form
I do a bit of Qigong (Zhan Zhuang) which I have been doing off and on for over 10 years
My trainer said to go easy on myself as it takes years.
Thanks! The Best Boxing channel ever!
I appreciate it ma man
Brilliant! I start boxing training on Monday and this video has given me a lot to think about before I go in! Really informative!!
Great tips !!!
Started boxing recently and applying your techniques to the bags and overall has helped me improve much more and keep me motivated! Cheers lad!
this is my favorite boxing channel thank you for the tips and all other videos tony
Thanks for sharing that Viktor mate
Cheers from down under
I’ll do a video on this, turn your notifications on so you don’t miss it
You are a truly master to me!! All my respect and gratitude.
Think about counter 😂😂😂 also i find as very important tip that wasn’t mentioned: dont hunch your shoulders & keep your core tight while being close (while striking). Btw thanks a lot for the videos i find myself lucky to discovering your channel right after i started to fully dedicate myself to boxing💪🏼
that's why i watch first tutorial ever to focus on the basics, thanks good vid
tony, you are really charismatic boxing trainer
you’re a great teacher! Can you please make a video on what equipment a beginner should and shouldn’t buy?
Thanks for the tips Tony.
I’m trying to get really good at boxing and thanks to you have inspired me a lot and I have got pretty good you just earned yourself a new subscriber ❤
Could you talk about punching up? At taller opponents your punching up. Should you practice punching high?
Thanks for uploading the videos on your channel. Super helpful. Been incorporating them this last month. Had a boxing fight yesterday and won
Mate these are one of the best tips thanks for sharing them with me and helping me improve
Thanks ma man, means a lot
I agree tony, especially with# 13!
Hi tony. I have a request. What if you make a video how to increase endurance or defend again pain. As rocky movie said it not matter how strong you can hit but what matter is how much you can take hits.
You are the best coach/ teacher/ trainer online I've seen
Now im better at boxing! Thanks for the insparation!
Exactly the video I was searching for. Great content with no fluff. 🥊
I agree Filming Shadow-boxing helps to Improve your concepts at a very grass root level
Also I got a question...Which bag do you think is best for practicing boxing at home?
Brilliant advice, too notch stuff would reccomend watching this before each training session to remind us of what we must concentrate on for maximum progression
This guy really gets to the point 👏👏👏
Glad you like my format mate 👊
