Looks pretty interesting. I like his moveset. Lately with god reveals i've just been groaning at how boring they seem but Ao's new set ain't bad. It's fun to see all the butthurt Ao players in the comments though. Get over it. Kuk is a way cooler noodle anyway. Ao can now turn into a massive dragon and *eat bitches*, how are you not happy with that change.
I've played Ao with his new kit in the PTS and he seems like more of a god where you can vary up your play style as you can go for the burst attack if you being ganked by let's say Anoobis but if ymir came to attack you, you can quickly use your abilities to make it more of a sustain fight which I think is really nice :)
I agree. The new Kuang seems to have a interesting set, and no matter what people complain over the old Kuang, he was nothing like his lore, and this fits him much better. Plus he still has a reference to his old catchphrase.

also he can be countered with mystic mail (the damage aura negates his invisibility) and cc inmunity (his ult doesn't work on cc inmune targets), so he's not all that OP either.
RaxisESP Exactly, he is probably one of the squishiest gods in the game. The most op thing about him is his attack speed. Try shoes of the magi, telekenesis ring, demonic grip, fatalis, polynomicon and bancrofts talaon.
Axillios Bellator it's because his 2 has a fixed amount of attacks so it does not really benefit from higher attack speed (unlike freya) and he also needs the power for his 3.
I kinda wish Ares would get this treatment as well (He's supposed to be a savage war-god who wielded a spear in his depictions, not Kratos from the God Of War series) Who knows, maybe they could change his kit a bit and give it to a new god (maybe Prometheus, the chains and fire would definitely fit him)
Oh man, that is actually the best rekit idea I've heard all day! and whike we're at it, why not make a god of war with physical damage? It always bugged me big time that they made him do magic damage. Rekit Ares as a warrior, hell the classification itself fits his lore more than what he has now :/
I'm a diamond ares but I'd be okay with this so long as his current kit was given to Prometheus. It would fit Prometheus very well. The new Ares should be made a warrior.
It is certainly not deserving of him calling out "A mighty storm!" when he casts it. Give me the original Ao Kuang's Tornado/Kukulkan's Whirlwind any day (and thank god I got the Sacred Dragon skin when I could so I can rock the original AoE Kuang any time I like).
I played the new Ao for a while now and I actually think he's one of the best newly released gods yet, his abilities make more sense than most other gods and I really enjoy just watching the ult play out. He is balanced and easy to shut down early game so be careful.

It's just damage. With that logic every damage spell synergizes with a blink. That's not what synergy means. I kinda wish there was more to it than blink and dish out damage. But Hirez heroes are highly unimaginative.
His 3 counts as a basic attack and sends dragons at enemies that I hits. Using his 2+3 allows him to clear jungle camps extremely quickly. Using his 2 as a ranged projectile slows the enemy. You can then use your 1 to catch up to them.
Ao Kuang needs to be nerfed to the FUCKING GROUND! More versatility than ANY god in the game! Too much damage! Too high attack speed! AND INVISIBILITY? Not only does he go invisible but he DASHES into his invisibility leaving absolutely no idea where he is. What the fucking hell... At least if you see Loki or Serqet go invis you know or have a slight idea of where they might be, but with Kuang you have absolutely no fucking clue! He's retarded OP and possibly the most OP god release to date. It's like they didn't even bother testing him before his release. Guys.. They wouldnt change him for no reason. They changed him because he didnt fit his lore, so they put a god that fit better (kukulkan) and then redid ao kuang so that he's actually mythologically correct.
Nooooooo the Golden Noodle was my favorite. He was the first god I picked up when I got into Smite way back before launch. This is nothing like my play style at all... Totally ruined for me, now... :( Edit: Also why would they turn him into looking like a man? Having a variety of appearances is kind of nice, should've kept him looking like a dragon... Because they changed him to fit him. I know most people aren't playing Smite for a history lesson but the devs are doing their best to accurately depict the gods they use and I admire them for that. I'd rather have Ao Kuang The Dragon King instead of Ao Kuang: The god who looks different just so we could make him look different.

I recently bought Ap Kuang and Apollo, best purchases I've ever made. Ao Kuang can unleash a shit storm of damage if you build him with magical power, magical penetration, and attack speed. First activate Dragon Call, initiate with Water Illusion (keep in mind your stealth activates), go to town with basic attacks, don't forget to make use of Wild Storm and the execute of his ultimate.
Beads and mystic mail completely shut him down. If he takes ANY damage he is revealed. No I'm not talking soft revealed like Loki, I'm talking literally hes no longer invisible if he takes ANY damage. Thus poisons and tick damage ruins his chances of staying invisible for the full duration. Magis or anything immune to cc shuts down his ult because it doesn't work on cc immune targets. Think of it like Fenrir's ult. With his only mobility (and its range is less than most dashes in the game and is half the range of auto attacks) and his escape from his ult shut down, hes slow as hell. He makes up for it in syncing extremely well with melee magical items and having insane damage due to it. However, he has to be about 30ft (half the range of auto attacks) for his 3 and needs to be in melee range for his steroid to be relevant. The ranged version of his steroid is a lot weaker than when used for melee I find alot of people don't realize exactly how well he syncs with telekinesis ring, demonic grip, and polymocon. Yes he's an AA mage but there's more to it than that. His 3 activates them (Poly damages automatically and can damage more than 1 enemy) and his 2 when in melee range does as well. There's hardly a reason not to have those three items on him plus boots and rod leaving only one adaptable slot which will likely be gem of iso or hasten fatalis. So for him to be flexible at all he has to sacrifice extremely important items. He also has NO hard cc. His ult technically is a knock up but lets be real, are you really gonna waste an execute to knock up an opponent? It'll be rare that you'll have to do that outside of escaping. His only cc otherwise is the slow on his 2 but he has to sacrifice his steroid for it (Using the slow removes the steroid and does less damage). This makes either hastin fatalis or gem of isolation mandatory on him, each with its own pros and cons. So is he OP? He'll seem OP early if you don't have a god with reliable AoE to reveal him (Posiden 3, Agni 1, etc) and if you have no form of cc immunity (Beads, Magis, Aphro ult). However, once people counter build him the burden of skill lies in the hands of Ao. He is best against melee gods because most melee gods must get close to deal their damage, which is where Ao excels at. Also, unlike Freya, he has burst in his 3 which is on a short 5 sec cd. You could in theory use CDR builds to make it a lot less but you'll be gimping your damage. So if your ever wondering who would win in an ao vs freya fight, it depends. Assuming Freya got magis... 1) Can Ao get in melee range? If yes then gg. 2) No? Freya wins.
The thing about this new Ao (and Nox btw) that I'm not a huge fan of is that they bring next to nothing for your team. Ok they bring damage but we already got a lot of high damage gods. Nox only has a silence this Ao only a slow, I don't think we need more "selfish"gods that berely helps your team, it should not just be the support that brings cc to the table.
Did anyone else notice for Kukuklan they didnt take away the Sacred Dragon skin? I have it so i can just play as the original ao kuang with the old voice and everything.
They removed the old Ao Kuang that was a OP mage with a spell that could do over 5000 damage on a few sec CD just to bring him as an assassin that can unleash 2000 damage in 3-4secs.

What I'm confused about is why everyone is incredibly butthurt about this "new" ao kuang. You're all so pissed about "ooooh u ruined my drgno nudle fuk u hirez uninstalled kill urself", when in reality KUKULKAN IS JUST OLD AO. I have no qualms with the new Ao, he's not amazing, sure, but his attacks work him well as a jungler. Less of a mage and more of an assassin, but he's definitely a good pick for the roster. The lore is so butchered here. If you read Ne Zha's lore from MYTHMONDAY'S by capslocksfury on Reddit you'll learn Ao's actual lore. He didn't he kick Ao's ass and he killed his son for no reason. The real lore is a lot more interesting then this.
His 1 needs a nerf. it seems to me to be too strong combined with an execute and strong burst damage moves. A blink, 5 secs of stealth, and damage all in 1 move on a 15 sec CD is a bit powerful along side other good moves. Maybe increase the cool down or reducing the blink range or making the god a little more squishy would make him more balanced. As of now Ao seems to be one of the best gods who kills everyone and can survive through kill almost everything because of his ult and 1.

I guess this was more of a drastic rework than say Sun Wukong vs Hun because those two stayed melee - Sun only got more mitigation QoL additions where as Hun remained the distraction-assassin. This here though, he went from being a mage to jungler. Pretty drastic change if you ask me.

Ao Kuang needs to be nerfed to the FUCKING GROUND! More versatility than ANY god in the game! Too much damage! Too high attack speed! AND INVISIBILITY? Not only does he go invisible but he DASHES into his invisibility leaving absolutely no idea where he is. What the fucking hell...
At least if you see Loki or Serqet go invis you know or have a slight idea of where they might be, but with Kuang you have absolutely no fucking clue! He's retarded OP and possibly the most OP god release to date. It's like they didn't even bother testing him before his release.
Every time I'm in a game and there's an enemy Ao Kuang all I can do is sigh because there is absolutely no way to counter him if he knows what he's doing. This is the first god release ever that has given me such trouble.

Guys.. They wouldnt change him for no reason. They changed him because he didnt fit his lore, so they put a god that fit better (kukulkan) and then redid ao kuang so that he's actually mythologically correct.
Nooooooo the Golden Noodle was my favorite. He was the first god I picked up when I got into Smite way back before launch. This is nothing like my play style at all... Totally ruined for me, now... :(

I know most people aren't playing Smite for a history lesson but the devs are doing their best to accurately depict the gods they use and I admire them for that. I'd rather have Ao Kuang The Dragon King instead of Ao Kuang: The god who looks different just so we could make him look different.

I recently bought Ap Kuang and Apollo, best purchases I've ever made. Ao Kuang can unleash a shit storm of damage if you build him with magical power, magical penetration, and attack speed. First activate Dragon Call, initiate with Water Illusion (keep in mind your stealth activates), go to town with basic attacks, don't forget to make use of Wild Storm and the execute of his ultimate.
God Reveal: Water Loki.

Beads and mystic mail completely shut him down. If he takes ANY damage he is revealed. No I'm not talking soft revealed like Loki, I'm talking literally hes no longer invisible if he takes ANY damage. Thus poisons and tick damage ruins his chances of staying invisible for the full duration. Magis or anything immune to cc shuts down his ult because it doesn't work on cc immune targets. Think of it like Fenrir's ult. With his only mobility (and its range is less than most dashes in the game and is half the range of auto attacks) and his escape from his ult shut down, hes slow as hell.
He makes up for it in syncing extremely well with melee magical items and having insane damage due to it. However, he has to be about 30ft (half the range of auto attacks) for his 3 and needs to be in melee range for his steroid to be relevant. The ranged version of his steroid is a lot weaker than when used for melee
I find alot of people don't realize exactly how well he syncs with telekinesis ring, demonic grip, and polymocon. Yes he's an AA mage but there's more to it than that. His 3 activates them (Poly damages automatically and can damage more than 1 enemy) and his 2 when in melee range does as well. There's hardly a reason not to have those three items on him plus boots and rod leaving only one adaptable slot which will likely be gem of iso or hasten fatalis. So for him to be flexible at all he has to sacrifice extremely important items.
He also has NO hard cc. His ult technically is a knock up but lets be real, are you really gonna waste an execute to knock up an opponent? It'll be rare that you'll have to do that outside of escaping. His only cc otherwise is the slow on his 2 but he has to sacrifice his steroid for it (Using the slow removes the steroid and does less damage). This makes either hastin fatalis or gem of isolation mandatory on him, each with its own pros and cons.
So is he OP? He'll seem OP early if you don't have a god with reliable AoE to reveal him (Posiden 3, Agni 1, etc) and if you have no form of cc immunity (Beads, Magis, Aphro ult). However, once people counter build him the burden of skill lies in the hands of Ao. He is best against melee gods because most melee gods must get close to deal their damage, which is where Ao excels at.
Also, unlike Freya, he has burst in his 3 which is on a short 5 sec cd. You could in theory use CDR builds to make it a lot less but you'll be gimping your damage.
So if your ever wondering who would win in an ao vs freya fight, it depends. Assuming Freya got magis...
1) Can Ao get in melee range? If yes then gg.
2) No? Freya wins.
The thing about this new Ao (and Nox btw) that I'm not a huge fan of is that they bring next to nothing for your team. Ok they bring damage but we already got a lot of high damage gods. Nox only has a silence this Ao only a slow, I don't think we need more "selfish"gods that berely helps your team, it should not just be the support that brings cc to the table.

Did anyone else notice for Kukuklan they didnt take away the Sacred Dragon skin? I have it so i can just play as the original ao kuang with the old voice and everything.
They removed the old Ao Kuang that was a OP mage with a spell that could do over 5000 damage on a few sec CD just to bring him as an assassin that can unleash 2000 damage in 3-4secs.
There's also the northern, western, the southern sea kings, but I guess they're not as popular as eastern...
the eastern is the most powerful, in most tales like journey to the west, the eastern dragon king summons the 3 other dragons, meaning his place is the highest out of 4
His basic attack animation is better on the PTS than the video....

What I'm confused about is why everyone is incredibly butthurt about this "new" ao kuang. You're all so pissed about "ooooh u ruined my drgno nudle fuk u hirez uninstalled kill urself", when in reality KUKULKAN IS JUST OLD AO. I have no qualms with the new Ao, he's not amazing, sure, but his attacks work him well as a jungler. Less of a mage and more of an assassin, but he's definitely a good pick for the roster. Just stop your butthurt if you liked old Ao, just play kukulkan and quit bitching.

The lore is so butchered here. If you read Ne Zha's lore from MYTHMONDAY'S by capslocksfury on Reddit you'll learn Ao's actual lore. He didn't he kick Ao's ass and he killed his son for no reason. The real lore is a lot more interesting then this.

His 1 needs a nerf. it seems to me to be too strong combined with an execute and strong burst damage moves. A blink, 5 secs of stealth, and damage all in 1 move on a 15 sec CD is a bit powerful along side other good moves. Maybe increase the cool down or reducing the blink range or making the god a little more squishy would make him more balanced. As of now Ao seems to be one of the best gods who kills everyone and can survive through kill almost everything because of his ult and 1.

Well the only thing Loki has going is his invisibility. Without it he's going to die very quickly. Just put wards a tad bit further in and he'll pop up. Or just communicate more. Communication usually shuts down an enemy team.
Ao Kuang is awesome, but I'm not very good playing him.
Let's take all of the annoying abilities from gods that most people cry OP and throw them all into one god. That will work! Chaac/Freya/Thanatos/Nox/Loki all in One.

Dat Felryn They kept his "kit" and gave it to Kulk, yes. Just as Sun Wukong's original kit went to Hun. I guess this was more of a drastic rework than say Sun Wukong vs Hun because those two stayed melee - Sun only got more mitigation QoL additions where as Hun remained the distraction-assassin. This here though, he went from being a mage to jungler. Pretty drastic change if you ask me.
