This video is a partial reupload of a broader video on LOTRO and it's history (linked in description). That one always felt a bit like a video within a video to me, and I figured it might be nice to have the entire LOTRO story a little bit more easily accessable and shareable on youtube!
is there any easy way to like donate something for your effort? im not rich by any means unfortunately, but i love lotro lore so much, im willing to spare a few bucks :)
@@TheAUTcheker Until I reach 1000 subscribers and 4000 public watch hours (which is the difficult part), unfortunately donating through youtube is not yet possible. Once I reach the monetisation requirements, it will be possible through Super Thanks (which appears next to the share button on a video). Another way would be something like a Patreon, but I can't justify setting that up to myself unless I can guarantee some sort of stable upload schedule, which is something i'm struggling with at the moment. For now the best thing you can do is watch and like my videos, and make the community aware of them through word of mouth!
Lotro has one of the most underrated stories when it comes to video games, It's incredible to see them bring back and tie in events and characters over the span of several years . Heck, even the Corsairs of Umbar expansion brings back characters and plots from well over a decade ago. Most people only see the game on it's surface level, IE, gameplay, mechanics, raids and dungeons (the typical MMO stuff) but miss the richness of it's story.
the only cohesive and complete lotro story video i know of. i think the community doesnt realize it yet, but you have done us all a huge service with this, when in a few years, everyone will look back at lotro fondly and find this :) thank you!
As much as I definitely prefer Shadow of Angmar, I do enjoy Mines of Moria and The Legacy of Durin as well. Definitely some of the best writing in the game in those particular expansions! Thank you so much for putting this video together!
What a well done narrative. Especially great to see the whole tale woven all together for those of us who have experienced in chunks spread across so many years. I agree with your point that many of the stories in LOTRO have a lot of emotional punch because of callbacks to experiences the player had long before. I love that they continue to weave characters like Horn & Nona, and even 'villains' like Mordirith/Eanor and Amarthiel (and her various guises) in and out of the storyline after so many years and in such carefully crafted ways that don't feel forced or contrived. You know these characters and they mean something to your player character. And man, every time I redo all the quests in Rohan with a new character, some of the stories are so sad. And later, in the King's Gondor, seeing how different people throughout the kingdom coped with post-war trauma is so well done and they don't gloss it over.
Damn thanks for this dude, I had been coming back and forward to Lotro for a few years but just recently my friends convinced me to Valar boost to Gundabad, so this helps fill in the few parts I missed.
I read on the wiki that Narmaleth was possessed by Amarthiel. But playing the game it just felt like Amarthiel was a new name for herself when she turned dark, not a separate spirit or personality? Also, honorable shoutout to Skorgrim, the Dourhands, and Thorog!
Great work! I enjoyed this summary and look forward to your next videos! This team has done such a good job with the story telling in game, keeping the player alongside the main events and helping along the way, and your videos really illuminate that (and remind those of us who have played along all these years:))
Dude. This is dope. I've been playing this game for over a decade, and this is a great resource. I'd love to see more videos like this following individual storylines, more in depth (Like the Riders 4).
Thank you! Individual story lines are something for the future, currently my focus is documenting the entire journey of the fellowship towards Mordor in LOTRO. I'm already at the ride of the rohirrim so we're getting close!
I liked Angmar but most of all i did enjoy the stories and worldbuilding of Dunland, Mirkwood and Mordor, Umbar also looks really good. Moria was cool but Gundabad, Rohan and Gondor were a bit boring... Isengard was cool too though. Stories in the second age were pretty cool also.
I didn't much like the Angmar epics(way too much back and forth between far apart areas) but the Gundabad epics were one of the best..so was Minas Morgul. the writing is most excellent.
Funnily enough, I have a lot of nostalgia for SoA. But i'm replaying through it currently and you're totally right on the backtracking, it gets super tedious at some point.
This is a fair criticism, I enjoy the story of SoA but not the back and forth and is usually something I dread when replaying it's epic. You can tell they fixed this in later expansions by keeping the player going forward through new zones (or close ones) with minimal or no back tracking. People like to think old lotro was better, but they need to take off the rose tinted glasses and remember the pain of the old systems.
@@neptali1569 if you were honest you’d admit or realize that the game is still very much is back and forth, and there are far more repetitive systems than during SoA, Moria, Mirkwood, or Isengard. Those 4 endgame stages were PEAK lotro, any veteran who actually played the game thoroughly, raided, pvpd or was an alt-o-holic will admit that What you said is just plain false bud
@@neptali1569 do you think they all say that just because? No, it’s cause it’s true, and if it wasn’t then the game wouldn’t be bleeding for population like it has since Rohan

Shadows of Angmar is still the best and most epic, though the ending of Vol 2 does come close.
So many lore references, I love it!!! Gotta play this once I get a better PC, the one I have now is shiiiiiiiittttt!!!!!!!

Too bad there is not one single movie-like cut of just the epic storylines...
