I made a small error in the family tree section of this video! As covered in my last video, Elwing is actually the granddaughter of Beren and Luthien not their daughter. This doesn't affect the video in any way i just wanted to address it and pin the comment incase any of you eagle eyed viewers picked up on it 😊
Aragorn is related to all three houses of Edain,The House of Finarfin, and a Maia....his family tree is the most diverse in middle earth..it even traces back to The House of Finwë...Yes, Aragorn is related to Fëanor too.
This is by far, the best video on Tolkien universe I've ever seen. You manage to capture the grandeur of Tolkien description of events, places, ambience, spirituality, beauty and sorrow. The meticulous attention to details in the deep history and lineage finally gives the listener who is not as well verse in Tolkien lore a sense of how deep and far the different events and characters are linked together ! Bravo. The use of perfectly use music mix with great illustration and the superb Narration ( who did not fall into the trap of doing Bad voice acting for once and instead simply read with great intention, tone and intensity the different quote from the books).. Once again, tank's to everybody involved in the making of these video's At '' Realms Unravelled'' ! This is your best work yet! Can't wait for the next one !
I read my first book of Tolkien at 10 years old. I’m 58 and still love re-reading all of his books. It started my love of fantasy and science fiction books.
I love how Tolkien’s work transcends generations… My grandfather read just about everything Tolkien ever wrote, my father was never really a fan, but the moment I watched the film as a child, it was a life changing experience. I have now started my journey of catching up to my late grandfather, taking up his mantle. I have read all of the Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Silmarillion, as well as a few of the shorter stories such as Beren and Luthien. And I plan to keep reading more until I finish everything that he and his son ever wrote. It’s a tall task but I’m up for the challenge, as the world/lore they have built is absolutely astonishing. Tolkien has truly changed my life, and it’s crazy to think that he did the same thing to my grandfather, over 60 years ago… The man was truly a genius and I feel so happy to live in a world where we are able to indulge in his great works… Sorry for the rant, but your statement really brought up old emotions and reminded me of him and the way he shaped my adult life by introducing me to Tolkien’s literature. Tolkien has always been the way that I remember him and think back about all of the great times we had watching the films. Crazy that he has had such a profound impact on so many people’s lives over the span of almost an entire century.
You can feel the love and respect for Tolkien's work throughout this whole video (and channel). I honestly had the same feelings of immersion and enthralment from when I watched Peter Jackson's trilogy for the first time.
I wanted to make this comment, I have always thought that Aragorn's love for Arwen was something that Dark lord and his Ring could never give Aragorn. Aragorn was highly resistant to the power of the Ring since what he desired the Ring could not give. I am sure those years in Rivendell were hard years where Elrond and his House trained and educated Aragorn for the task ahead. I suspect few if any mortal before Aragorn had such training.
@@dellisaflavius1538somewhere in the writing it did say that even the most noble could be corrupted by the rings. It implies that at least a couple of the Ring Wraiths were good men originally because it states that the rings corrupt the wearers although the time it takes depends on the nature of who they were before they put their ring on.
@@dellisaflavius1538Tolkien I believe said arragorn would have been corrupted by the time they reached Rohan or during or after the battle of helms deep had he taken the ring
I loved this! Aragon is my favourite literary character, and to be told his backstory in such a visual and respectful way was a joy to watch! Also, the writing here is faithful to the richness of Tolkien. If only Amazon hired you to write their scripts, we would have something more approaching the grandeur and beauty of Tolkien's prose. Bravo!
An EXCELLANT video for anyone, new or old to the world of Tolkien, wishing to have a broader and deeper understanding of LOR by following this often overlooked and central character to it. Brilliant I say!
I was hooked fom start to finish. Even though I had already read much of what was said, the story telling drew me in and I was captivated. Excellent work!!!
The effort and production quality put into the videos on this channel are unmatched by any of the Tolkien youtubers that I've seen. Very well done, looking forward to more to come.
Tolkien Untangled is my favorite and I believe the best and most researched, but I am enjoying this channel a lot so far! Perhaps check them out if you’re interested in more LotR videos. ❤ Edit: Also Men of the West and In Deep Geek!
@RealmsUnravelled, I'm not sure how your videos showed up in my feed, but I'm so thankful that they did. I grew up reading Tolkiens books with my dad. He was typically a very reserved guy and not a fan of fiction or fantasy media. When he noticed that I was showing interest things like Zelda, DnD, and comics, he asked if I had heard of LOTR. Because I was a small kid, I think maybe 7 or 8 I hadn't. He started reading the books to me before bed and my mind was blown. Partly because i didn't expect my dad to interested in anything like LOTR and the sheer volume of the stories. His knowledge and enthusiasm of those stories really stuck with me as I grew up. After finding your channel I've been able to go back to him and expand on the characters from the stories with new questions and ideas. Thanks for doing what you do, my dude!
Peter Jacksons new films could be about Aragorns time in the east. They could meet other races and it wouldn't be against cannon he could meet the blue wizards or even the Ent wives. It could be incredible!
this was a brilliant deep-dive. despite having read the appendices Aragorn's pre-LotR life never came alive to me in such a way as you have communicated. thanks!
read all tolkien books many times since i was 14 we all fall in love with his poetry but this video is best i have seen and i have seen plenty well done guys
Thankyou, you immersed me into middle earth and into Aragorns life, so much detail. Took me from this troubled world even only for a short time. Tolkien was a genius, how much imagination did this man have, I cannot believe what a truly remarkable story was written. “The crownless shall become king”. ❤️🇦🇺
Where did the artwork featured in this video come from please? These are the best renditions of Tolkien's characters that I have ever seen. The artist is amazing and the women, both human and elven, are absolutely beautiful. The headshots in the family tree illustration are phenomenal!
Thank you for this moving and majestic tribute - I'm not even halfway through the video but just watching your coverage of Aragorn's lineage nearly brought me to tears. Tolkien weaved such magnificent mythology that it pulls at our human yearnings for something greater, a faith we yearn to be true.
This channel puts everyone doing Tolkien content to shame. I couldn’t get through 3 episodes of season 1 or 1 episode of Season two of that awful Amazon show but I could watch this video 10 times. Well done, excellent work as always.
amazing video, quality and content is superb, just wanted to point out a couple of mistakes in the family tree of Aragorn, under Anárion it mentions the line of the kings of Arnor, but it should be Gondor; also, Elwing was daughter of Dior and Nimloth, Dior being the only son of Beren and Lúthien, so Dior is missing in between them
Thanks very much for bringing this to my attention so quickly! I have now pinned a comment addressing the error. I actually covered Dior and Elwing in my last upload so I'm annoyed at myself for not spotting it but that's what happens when you're trying to rush a video out before going on holiday I suppose! Thanks again
Your posts bring such peace and joy for LOTR fans in a time of unrest. I read the trilogy, Hobbit and some of the Silmarillion when I was a teen but don’t find time to re-read so your uploads are a boon. I’m going to watch everything up so far, I’m hoping I find one about Galadriel and her history, if there isn’t one please create one soon! 🥺
I'm glad I stumbled upon your channel. You tell stories beautifully. I was moved to tears even just by listening to your videos. ❤ Excellent content! Keep it up!
How long it took for this history of Aragorn to reach me! It is a wondrous tale, and is essential to understanding who Strider, as we meet him, truly is. Thank you for this presentation.
GREAT vid. I had read the trilogy 3 times by the time the movies came out. But, the universe of Tolkien is so huge, it's very difficult to keep track of everyone. The visual depictions make it so much easier to keep things straight.
Subscribed- just because is relaxing and is good to be driving, sleeping, or doing something around the house while I listen to something that I may not understand 80% of it due to being new to de lore of the LOTR
Glad you like them! Yes, as time has gone on I have put progressively more time and effort into the production and it does take me a long time to make a video these days! Although it's the art that takes up the most of the time as it's all prepared in house for especially for each video. Once I have a larger collection of animations to choose from I will be able to produce content much more quickly 🙂
I've watched Rings of Power and the movies recently, so my curiosity of Tolkien's world and his characters is big now. Thanks for this video, will watch more
I couldn't help but notice that in Aragorns family tree, where Elrond and Elros are linked, there are no wives linked to them. When earlier in the video it talks about Celebrían and their 2 twin sons Elledan and Elrohir. Wouldn't they be next to Arwen in the tree ? I understand it's about Aragorns bloodline, although, if we are to include Elrond and Arwen then one would conclude we must also include the others to give a full scale of the lineage.
Oh how i wish to see Elrond and Aragorn bonding at Rivendell (in movie or series) while he gains knowledge and skills through hardship and to watch..the ethereal beauty of Rivendell, arches and waterfalls,it would be truly unforgettable 🤍 insane channel 👏 thank you
