@@BigDaddysBBQPit THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!! I cannot tell you how good this was. I usually make baked mac n cheese 4 every family get together but this Thanksgiving alot was different in our family so I wanted to change things up a bit and make new things. My mom just completed radiation after surgery for breast cancer, my husband completed chemo after surgery for colon cancer back in January and has since been cancer free after a 2 yr fight, and my sister is going thru a bad divorce (guy already had a baby and bought a home w another woman and barely been gone a yr) had a stroke last yr after a vaccine(yes that one) and is well enough mentally and doing physically amazing so she was able to host at her home and I spent the nite and did the cooking. Sorry 4 the long TMI comment... ☺ anyhow I wanted new ideas so I made this. I watched the video 3x and then while I made it I watched along,it was super easy, fast to get together and the taste was out of this world. I snuck to the kitchen and took a taste b4 I let anyone else eat it and I literally turned to my husband with tears in my eyes and said...this is the best thing I've ever made in my life. 😂 may sound dramatic but this was an emotional year and yesterday we had so much to be thankful for. I was a mess. My mom actually had 2 servings, my niece and sister begged me to leave a pan(I made kinda a batch and a half using 2 whole bags of the hashbrowns and 2 cans of cream of chicken. And I used a bit of chicken stock to clean the soup cans and added it for extra moisture since I used more hashbrowns. It made 1 big 13x9" pan and a small 8x8 perfectly.)and my dad who usually sticks with regular old mashed taters ate 2 servings and when I asked what they wanted packed to take home he said "just ham and them cheesey taters and some green beans". That's a huge compliment from him. Haha I even got a pick at 5am of my sister eating a huge plate of them...and the only reason I got the pic at 5am was because I may have also been awake eating some of them. 😂 so, this is my new go to side dish for all holidays starting new. We will be having it for Christmas as well. So, again sorry for the long comment, but this year nothing was the same and change is good. It may sound like just a side dish to some, but it's kinda a Lil more special to my Lil family. This recipe is now gonna be handed down to my 12 yr old niece. I've been hand writing her family recipes and the ways to do diff things she's helped me with in the kitchen for a few yrs now and making kinda like a scrapbook of our family meals and get together and I'm gonna give it to her one day. ♥ thanks again....I'm gonna search your channel for more good food!! 😂

❤ Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family!! I just had to let ya know... I'm fixin to make 3 pans of these again. Haha we love em! You can't beat good food and my mom who's been sick absolutely loves these. I'm making her a whole pan to take home and freeze. She's so excited. Some folks may say it's just food...but cooking is my love language and there's nothing like making something that everyone loves. So, again...thank you for the recipe.

This is the same exact recipe my family makes around the holidays except the extra milk. I look forward to it every year!

Good recipe. Cracker Barrell uses Colby cheese and they do not use sour cream at all which I think really makes this dish so good. .

    A point of contention here.
This is the only recipe of this type I have seen where there is any cooking ahead of time and the only recipe where hot ingredients are thrown in with the potatoes.
About every recipe out there involves mixing the ingredients cold or room temp and then baking them. I'm just curious when that started.

Thanks for watching! That’s a good question, this is a family members recipe so I’m not certain.

Most I've seen use frozen hash browns , but thaw in advance. I'd imagine since hot ingredients are poured over the frozen here it negates the need to thaw. Definitely different.

That soup is toooo salty probably even low sodium … any substitute suggestions…or do you have use soup at all?…thank you:.. does Cracker Barrel really use chicken soup??

Thank you for watching. The only thing I can recommend is a low or no sodium soup.

Why do you add more salt along with the 2,000mg of salt in the cream of chicken soup? A salt bomb.
