Welcome To Survival-Russia. One of the very best Outdoors and Survival related communities on UA-cam, and yes, It's a pretty good Channel too :)
My name is Lars. I'm From Denmark but I live in Rural Russia now. I live at a Homestead in wild nature surrounded by a huge forest.
On The Survival-Russia channel we do all things related to the Outdoors Lifestyle. I share my thoughts and experiences on Survival Techniques for the woodlands of the Northern Hemisphere. the Reality of Survival. I share Techniques and ways of the Siberian Tribesmen and the Russian Longhunters of the older days. Things not shown outside of Russia very much.
On this Channel we also do Off-Road driving, Vehicle builds, Metal Detecting, all things Outdoors basically. Enjoy!
Here Is Part 1 From The Trip ua-cam.com/video/Hr_XkL9TKmM/v-deo.html
Boom.. I was waiting for this Siberian Log Fire. A siberian log fire is so beautiful. ❄👍❄
Part one was great. Part 2 was awesome. Thanks for the videos. Hope this year is great for you and your family. Been learning alot from your videos. Great job.
Lars, why would you use a jungle-rated sleeping bag in Russian winter conditions? Granted you are well dressed and prepared. And I suppose something is better than nothing. Are there any advantages to this setup?
Are you supposed to stay at the border to protect or something ?
Love your videos just don't know the context
Lars’s main survival tool is the one in his brain, as he says every time, get out there and do it, get out and train. A great contrast to all the salespeople on youtube. Awesome.
Yup Lars is the only bush crafter that ain't trying to sell you things besides the silky saw but thsts understand since it is a good saw for the environment he's in . Too many guys on here trying to sell gear
USE you brain!
Is there anyone else who thought he was saying get on a train? And made it mean sense to ya? No, well bla bla bla, this is good stuff this channel.
Don’t know why but I find this really relaxing to watch
Because it’s a direct reminder that you are comfortable while he isn’t lol
Lars talks to you, not at you, he includes the audience in what he does, plus it seems so natural and unscripted, totally relaxing.
Ray G Agreed
That's why Lars' subscription numbers keep growing. I've felt the same way for 5 years or so.
Lars!! 😂
"There are no 5 C's, 14 P's..."
Sooo DEAD ON CORRECT!!
There ARE ALWAYS variables!!!
We do indeed think sooo much alike for being sooo far apart!!
Total agreement on winter containers and tools!
It is stunning how incredibly similar our kits are!
The one thing You are blessed with is an incredible ability to communicate effectively and efficiently while providing an amazing sense of humor to balance out each session/lesson.
I RESPECT that!
In aviation we use a Five C's memory aid, a six T's, and several others during certain critical phases of flight then we back them up with the printed checklist when time permits. Yes, there are ALWAYS variables but mnemonic checklists are a good starting place and they do no harm. The GUMPF check just before landing means Gas/Undercarriage/ Mixture/Props/Flaps. This has prevented many belly landings as the U means Undercarriage to remind you to put the landing gear down.
For shure you are one of the rare ,real outdoorsman on You- tube.
Talking about what to do not with what .
Really enjoy that.
Stay healthy and strong!
Happy Healthy 2020!!
Lars, when I was a boy scout in Michigan we would camp one weekend a month all year long. I've slept on a ground cloth in a goose down sleeping bag covered by a felt like tarp. I've woken up completely covered in snow. We would flip a coin to see who had to go out and start a fire and thaw out our boots. This was back in the late 60s early 70s before a lot of this new fancy gear came out. I'm 62 now and still love winter but don't think I want to sleep out in it like that anymore. At very minimum I'd have to have a hot tent with wood stove.
You’re spoiling us-two vids in one evening -brilliant .All the very best for you and your family in the New Year.
Maybe not SPOILING us. We can take it!
Absolutely The Best Channel On UA-cam....!
Best UA-cam Channel ever!👍
Greetings from Switzerland!
Seeing Lars reminds me of a Russian version of my grandfather back in Mexico. What I would call a true rancher/woodsman (?)
Simple, self sustaining, highly receptive to the land, always prepared, wholesome men I'd say.
This life style is beautiful and rewarding. More so now that I see, that even across the globe we are one people.
And here I thought I'd have to wait a week for part 2. Awesome :)
That would not be awesome :)
When smoke gets in your eyes, say "I hate rabbits". Works every time. No joke
Does it also work with onions?
@@kawakalypse2770 keep your onions as cold as possible will help,
@@kawakalypse2770 so say "I hate onions" ? :)
We used to say White rabbit! 🤷♂️
Whatever works right 😂
Lars, a small kit dosen't exist. Then pans and shows the woods, here is your survival kit. Love it. Pack accordingly to your conditions and the area you are in. Love the video Lars!! Most Excellent.
Great multi-part episode Lars! It's great to see some new survival footage (although I love the Gator, metal scavenging and your elderly neighbor's recipes, too!) Happy New Years!
My Gator crew is not here at the moment :)
He is like the Mr. Roger's of Russia with his cardigan on
It's a beautiful day in Siberia,
a beautiful day for a Russian.
Would you saw wood?
Don't baton wood.
A very good example that you can survive the night in the cold with a few (good) well thought out gear. And still be able in the morning to move further or back home . Thanks for your effort Lars . greets Martin.
Sleeping out at night I used to listen to every sound...never afraid but loved the sound of nature. Even in the winter, trees crack with frost and scurry sounds but never much else really. Summer for me was listening to nature noises and mosquitos etc trying to get at me. I miss those days...
When I was laying in the bag and looking up at the pine and spruce tops, I was thinking "this is what I love." True story :)
simplicity, nice character no fancy stuff..
Thanks Lars I really enjoy these longer videos, I know it’s more work for you, just know it’s appreciated. Thanks again keep the great videos coming & don’t forget to be awesome!
This is what we needed, part 1 is nothing without seeing how you get through the night.
Military recon guys get to 'recalibrate' comfort. Even in civilian life, I have had cold and uncomfortable nights but not dangerous nights in the forest. High-carb foods help and tried and tested Siberian 'hacks' extend the likelihood of survival. We all are continuing to learn from Lars and from his application of common sense to available materials.
@Survival Russia Not only are the Dutch the tallest, we are also the prettiest. Oh and very modest 😊 Have been watching you for years now, love the vids in the wild. All best for 2020 to you and the family. Greetings from the Netherlands.
Danes are the pretties! :) Fun Fact: Most Danes would be able to read a Dutch newspaper :)
@@SurvivalRussia yes, very close languages and yes, there are quite a few very acctractive Danish ladies 😊 i was in the Dutch army in '95 and the sleeping bag (inner, sleeping bag and outer) together with the brand new "pup" tents we got were the best pieces of gear.
I have great respect for both countries through work....best wishes from England
Nick Thorp thx Nick. I worked in england (Aylesbury about 25 years ago) for half a year and liked it there especially the pub lunches could be very good. 😊
are we talking about the dutch men or the women being pretty.
I have an old AK Apple tree here at my house probably 50 years old still bears fruit
I made a pledge to watch all ads on your vids.I know it helps with cash for the channel. And I HATE ADS. I HATE ADS. Grrr. But for the channel, I will. Hope it helps. Love being there, atleast on video. Thanks lars
Lars uses a rock for a pillow ! He makes a fire to protect the cold from him !
It must be almost Christmas in Russia because we're getting a treat today...oh wait...it is!! 🤣
2 Videos on a row and in the outdoors...Awesome Lars, thanks a lot!!🙏🏻
You were close, it's on January 7th.
@@chupasaurus that's why I said "almost". :)
In this apparel He reminds me last Wehrmacht Grenadier abandoned in Sibiria.
HoHoHo!
It's actually all Russian clothes, but the hat is a Finnish M/36 ;)
@Toto Arriba Nein :)
@Toto Arriba they were stopped in Stalingrad(Volgograd) i think, Feldmarshal Paulus screwed up
Excellent and fun video Lars. Enjoy all your content, but its nice when you go back to your roots and show us what you do in the woods.
That was a huge chunk of salt pork, and good to see you back for part 2. That Siberian log fire is just awesome, it is a great design for sure. I'm looking forward to seeing some super soup in the near future. :) Hope you have a great week ahead brother!
Lars, hattest ja auch schon ohne Schlafsack,in der Kälte geschlafen!Alles Liebe, dir und deiner Familie! Bist ein toller Pappa,Mensch und Unterhalter!Jeg önsker stor epifanie, god Kage!!Som dig fantastisk MAN!!
The colours in the Siberian log fire were beautiful! Thanks for sharing Lars!
Hi Lars,
You are so correct. It takes a bit of a pack to have what you really need.
Just found your channel! I love the cold.😊 I grew up in Texas, but my mother was from Michigan, and took every opportunity to teach her children how to stay warm. I also shared this knowledge with my children. My oldest now lives in Alaska with his family and he agrees we were meant to be in colder climates. Guess I kept my house too cold ..lol I can't wait to relocate to Alaska! I hate the heat! It makes me sick and sluggish. But the cold invigorates and just seems cleaner and fresher. Weird..I know. Thank you for your videos. 🏔
a video on how you prepare the salted pork would be really cool. This seems a great option as rations to bring from home!
I love to watch you and live vicariously through your videos. I used to love the outdoors but sadly a broken neck and spinal cord injury has my walking and forest exploration days over lol. You’re obviously quite smart and have learned your skills through many trials and errors.
Next time if you make the soup take the goat cheese salt pork and rye bread and make a grilled cheese and you're right it's always good to have extra water and rations with you
Seeing that big bucket of ice you had to thaw out, it's easy to see why you chose a tropical sleeping bag Lars.
I always find it hard to sleep when i'm too hot as well.
A good many 'hot tent' or classic woodcraft Adirondack shelter descriptions speak to large fires and overheating even in very cold weather.
Good way to start the new year, watching a overnighter trip full of awesomeness 😁
Everyone needs to keep a Survival Backpack or BOB with them where ever they go.
Lars, as an outdoor enthusiast I have been a subscriber for quite some time now but have yet to leave a comment. I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy the variety of content you share with us: everything from life in Russia to survival skills, and then everything in between. Your humor, honesty, intelligence and practical approach to everything is appreciated and rare. Thank you and keep it coming.......
Thank you :)
Great couple of videos Lars. As you say, unless you are caught out in some sort of disaster, survival is about preparation. This requires thinking and experience, and thinking has to recognise the changing conditions and prepare for them accordingly. One regular item for you is raw garlic, which is a great survival tool for human beings in so many ways, and given the amount of it that you eat, I recall that you said that you grow it at home. One part of preparation is to look after your tools, and organic tools that keep the body healthy deserve a bit of air time and videos of their own, given that how garlic is grown and stored is different in the variious season lengths of geographical locations. Silky saw, bread, pork fat and garlic. Great survival combination
when you unzipped the front of your jacket, i thought you were pulling out a couple of slices of bread but you pulled out a knife! AWESOME Lars.....
I just watched a video about tanks it seems I summoned this new video in my recommended
I have a tracked APC. Maybe that's why :)
@@SurvivalRussia YES ...YES YOU DO LARS!
Found this channel about 2 weeks ago, and now my wife is upset all the time. Why, because I've done nothing but watch lars videos. Lol
Check out war thunder game
2 videos in one day? You are truely spoiling us Lars!
All day work :)
@@SurvivalRussia Well worth the effort you put in mate! I'd say your vids are some of the best on youtube
Camera shots, sound and generally quality has 100% improved!
Thanks for the information Lars, being self reliant is the mark of a truly free man.
Hi Lars! All in all great night footage, seems not so comfy but "bareable"!😉 I think it doesn't matter whether
you are carrying an axe or a saw with you because if you have not the right craftsmanship in using it you are screwed at all! So it's always a pleasure see you working outdoors. Greetings from 🇦🇹
Stay awesome Lars, Mrs. SR,Ninjas. Thanks for 2 vids in a day. You are my favorite channel by far.
thanks for the 2nd upload. pretty awesome. don't overwork yourself please. i got the silky gomboy recently and was showing a good friend it who knew i'd ordered one. his youngest who is 5 was out in the shed playing games with us and i asked the little ninja why i would keep something like this in my pack. she told me 'just in case you come to a tree across on the trail (on the trans canadian trail i quite frequently ride my xt250 on) so you can get by the tree and other people can get by:" very incredible a five year old would think both these things, and she was exactly right. my mind was blown, her old man's mind was blown, kids can be very perceptive. anyway, thanks for getting me on the silky saws, one of the best "tool" tools for survival apart from necessities. far superior to a heavier axe and way smaller to pack.
Great video Lars. Thank you. Very relaxing. It's nearly 40 degrees Celsius in outer west Sydney Australia today. We have a total fire ban and water restrictions here. We have no concept of minus 20. Survival here is so different.
Thank you for the video. I enjoyed seeing what you packed for your trip as well as how it worked out for you. All the best, Happy New year!
Do you have the best channel on UA-cam. I thoroughly enjoy watching you traipse around through the forest. I really enjoyed when you talk about old Russian history. You are super awesome please keep up the great work.
Just awesome, thanks for sharing one more winter overnighter from Russia, I am enjoying it every time you do it. Learning new stuff every time.
Good advice on packing the appropriate gear for the situation. Experience teaches what you should have with you and what you should have left at home that you have to carry.
Awesome as always Lars. I could keep watching these type of videos from you any day.
You are the real deal thank you for your honesty
I always love how awesome everything is. And now I can watch someone else see all the awesome too. Great job lars.
Love your way to test out "summer gear" for a winter survival trip. It's not the rating of the sleeping bag that's count, it's the brain of the person that use it. When I was in the army we had a rehearsal and it was minus 39 C the first night. We only have the uniforms and the normal extra gear to keep us worm in the tents at the night. But with a stove in the tent and continues fire we could survive in that extreme temperature. Best sleep is in minus 5 C under a tarp with a good sleeping bag and a small fire for extra heat. Keep up the good videos and have a wonderful new 2020.
The night time lighting quality is 'awesome'. Good upgrade to the content Lars
Your videos are great. Seems so peaceful there.
Great Lars. Really enjoyed that mate. Its reality, tin pocket survival kits are like a bandaid to a gunshot wound. Handy to have but by no means the begin and end all of survival. You have to have the right tools and kit for the job.
Really enjoy your videos, glad I came across your page. Thanks from Michigan U.S.A.
Sound,lighting and content Awesome Lars!
I do admire your 'make the best of what you have' attitude..Inspiring !
Thanks!
Many years ago I was stranded in a very cold situation on a mountain. I'm pretty sure a lot more than 14 f's were used.
Lars , great video visit , thanks for sharing and bringing us along, I hope this finds you well my friend ! 👍
good Logic ending message about that freaking pocket survial blablaba, wise man have spoke !
Thank you Lars for these videos. I have always wanted to camp out like that but with a really bad back its too hard on me. I live vicariously through your videos. All the best to you and your family.
Thank you Lars for getting out in the woods again, not sure if you mentioned the temperature, I'm here in South Central Alaska and our weather is usually very similar to yours, but it's -20 F here now so it appears your temperature. Have a blessed New Year.
Awesome outing in Part 2 Lars. We had very strong winds last night here as well, after getting snow all day yesterday, so lots of drifting. Walked into the forest today and had some food done up on the fire and some beverages while out. Enjoy your week Lars and await the next video.....cheers Fred
Yes I saw you got dumped with snow the other day. Here it is still very little. 30 cm.. Thank you Fred :)
In sweden we call thes meskits snuskburk (dirtycans) there awsome for boiling in and frying in and eating out 😊😊😊
Excellent video Lars. I totally agee with you about minimalist packs. I would rather have a couple things extra, if they are packable. Just reading a story about some engineers in the Canadian north, early 1900's. The head guy actually forgot to bring enough matches. Such a simple thing and yet turned the expedition into a disaster. Had to abandon the project at great cost and some serious butt kicking. Thanks for the effort, number one videos with me.
How good is it having heaps of lighting when you are out in the sticks. You can never have enough lights ;)
I feel so guilty watching this on my big screen TV while lying in my warm and comfortable king-size bed
Thanks for finishing the video Lars. I know you're always searching for new stuff, which is a good thing, but a lot of us still like to see you in the woods once in a while doing stuff we aren't able to do, for whatever reason, but still dream about getting the chance again. I'd enjoy seeing your tent out there, or roughing it a few times this winter.
Happy new year!
Thank you Jim and Happy Healthy 2020!!
Thanks for having the proper equipment . Looked very windy. A lot of videos all you hear is wind noise. Great video and the audio had a lot to do with it
Thank you , Lars .
I learn something every time I watch your videos. Amazing man you are Lar's and thanks for sharing.
thanks for all the hard work sir!
Excellent!
"If you're roughing it, you're doing it wrong." Ray said that.
Love your way with the camera.tou do good work just saying hi from Texas USA
Some ideas you can maybe use for your merch... "Super Awesome", "Funky Stuff", "Tralalala", "Do Something Awesome", "Printing Tools".... Or just a drawing of a siberian log fire with your logo on back or shoulder or something...
Terrific vids my friend. Thank you. It is very interesting and great to see how you go bush on the other side of the world. Quite opposite climate to here in Australia.
Looking forward very much Thanks again mate.
you camping out in the woods in the winter …...still looks better than me after a night shift !!!!
Well he ain't working lol just milling about I suppose. I'd rather camp out than work 12hr shifts those days are over for me
Fantastic vlog Lars, so much wisdom came with this one, Cheers
Thank you..happy new years...

Where do I start? Great advice on not sleeping on freshly melted snow by the fire. Coalcracker did a video on calorie content from protein, carbs and fats. Now I why you bring along fats. Sleeping pad? In all off my bobs. Light and fast. Tra la la la my friend. Thanks for your videos. Please keep me entertained and stay warm.
Best UA-cam day yet!
Thank you! Another awesome video 👍🏻✨ Happy new year.
Excellent video. Thanks.
Cant wait to see the new camp when weather permits ...... Definitely inspire me to do some winter camping
Rules of both parts in summary:
Have a saw and saw like a train (cho-cho!!)
Bla-bla-blaing in the night to BACKOFF BEAR!
Strategie: avoid to get into a survival situation
there is no "one for all small survival kit"
, therefore is "brain" for everything
There is only one saw! (long before you showed them I was already hooked to this company, they are awesome)
While camping/hunting in northern New York I tested out the 32° rating of a Snugpack jungle sleeping bag without a ground pad/tarp. I can attest that you will live, but not comfortably.
Great great video! Interesting that a "tropical" sleeping bag works in winter.
Thank you :) It anyway helps a bit.
