They actually wanted to have Super Bowl ix at the Superdome in 1975 but as it wasn’t finished yet, they switched it to Tulane stadium and it was one of the Worst weather Super Bowl ever.
Fun fact about the Rose Bowl: It is the only stadium to have hosted the Super Bowl & the FIFA World Cup Final (though MetLife Stadium will join it in this distinction in 2026). The Rose Bowl also hosted the 1999 Women's World Cup famously won by the USWNT in a penalty shootout.
In 1993, Super Bowl 27 was going to be at Sun Devil Stadium. It didn't happen because the voters in Arizona didn't recognize Martin Luther King Jr. Day as a paid holiday. The NFL decided to move the game to the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.
It is the first time since March of 2024 that I have managed to watch one of your historical videos, and I must state that I am in awe of how much historical information disclosed in the video, great video Adam as usual.
Learning about some of the random non-NFL stadiums that hosted the Super Bowl is wild, imagine if Raymond James Stadium was scheduled to host XXXIII the season it opened in 1999 but construction delays wouldn't allow it and because of them already marketing it in Tampa Bay and not wanting to use Tampa Stadium again they played it at fucking Tropicana Field.
The Rose Bowl is NOT in a sketchy part of town, it’s in the upscale part of LA called Pasadena. The Coliseum, on the other hand, is absolutely in a sketchy part of town. You easterners don’t know anything about California.
Good job clarifying. And the part of Pasadena the Rose Bowl is located in is one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in LA (higher median household income than Beverly Hills).
I was about to say as a Pasadena resident people jog around the area at night, kids soccer takes place there, little league baseball around there as well. People fly RC planes when no games are happening, and a giant flea market happens there every month. There is a freaking museum for kids and a not cheap to play golf course used for overflow parking. Police are there because it’s a big event that’s why. The Batman house is just up on the cliff and the whole area is expensive as all hell, with two private schools that overlook it plus down the arroyo a former grand hotel not US Circuit court of appeals. I mean if you’ve ever watched the rose bowl it’s freaking easy to see from the wide shots that it’s freaking gorgeous. There are “sketchy” parts of Pasadena further north and east but like far enough away that you wouldn’t come close to it. Why do you think they’ve hosted five super bowls, a World Cup, women’s World Cup, Olympics, soccer, football, concerts and other such things there with massive fan areas

5:50 it's weird how UCLA plays in Pasadena and USC plays in Los angeles. In 2022 I took my wife down to the LA area and that's over a 7-hour drive coming from where I'm from in wine country in Northern California the northern part of the Bay Area and she went to an event at Rose bowl stadium called Kamp LA where a bunch of K-pop artists performed their. While she was doing that I went straight to work for doordash to make the money back that I spent for buying gas and for whatever merchandise we would want to get. I even made deliveries to USC from restaurants on the USC campus to people living in one of the big dorms or fraternity houses or whatever
Has the LA coliseum hosted a hockey game yet? They’ve literally done everything else. As listed before along with Rugby, concerts, field hockey (that’s real), ultimate frisbee, I’m unsure if the AFL (Aussie rules) played an international contest there against the USA in exhibition but it’s highly likely they did. It’s actually hilarious how much stuff has been done there
I live about 20-30 minutes south of the Coliseum... no way they'd be able to host it because it would take way too much to keep it cold enough for the rink. I've been there for Monster Jam, and it's hosted NASCAR (looks ridiculous when it happens).
Great video!!! Beautiful stadium!!! I'd also like to mention the employees at the stadium! The locals that work there are awesome greeters and reminders that you are in NawLen's Beaaby!!! I love their accents💯🔥
Love your videos, but just two things, Super Bowl 39 in Jacksonville was held in 2005 for the 2004 season, not 2006 and NRG at the time Reliant Stadium did not host the first Super Bowl win to kick off the Patriots dynasty, it was Super Bowl 36 in the Mercedes Benz Superdome, now Caesar Dome in New Orleans in 2002 for the 2001 season. Houston and NRG hosted Super Bowl 38 where the Patriots got their second Super Bowl Win in 2004 for the 2003 season

No air conditioning at SoFi Stadium is not a problem in February. It's a really amazing stadium with a very impressive video display system, too. By the way, they're not going to have another Super Bowl at AT&T Stadium because its location in Arlington, TX is just *TOO FAR* from downtown Fort Worth and Dallas, respectively. Of course, it didn't help during Super Bowl Week that year, the Dallas-Fort Worth region suffered a major ice storm with extreme cold afterwards, which pretty much kiboshed all the Super Bowl Week parties. I do think US Bank Stadium, Ford Field and Lucas Oil Stadium will host a Super Bowl again. All three have been designed so most of the Super Bowl Week corporate events can be held close to the stadium, so winter weather is way less an issue.
I hope the heir to Roger Goodell will overturn the requirement of a Super Bowl having to take place in an NFL stadium. It could open up the possibility not only for the Rose Bowl again, but maybe even an international destination if logistics could be arranged on both sides.

I think you got your facts crossed my man, the Rose Bowl is nestled in the hills of Pasadena, an extremely safe suburb of Los Angeles. People go jogging around it from early morning to late night every single day with rarely any issue. Only the occasional unaware first year USC student would probably dare jog around the Coliseum, and they’d find out quick why that’s a bad idea in South Central LA.
One thing I can't figure out is why Rice Stadium (in Houston) was even used for the Super Bowl. The Astrodome was in use for the Oilers and had a much bigger seating capacity. Plus it was indoors.
The State of New Jersey was screwed royally when the NFL referred the Super Bowl that was held at MetLife, Inc. Stadium as the "New York Super Bowl". Yet, the stadium is PHYSICALLY LOCATED in the Borough of East Rutherford, Bergen County, New Jersey. 😡

How in the heck were the Jaguars able to convince the city of Jacksonville to invest in over $725M to pay for the majority of their renovated $1.4B stadium?
I watched a Super Bowl at the Rose Bowl. I was on a wooden bench in the end zone BUT there were seat cushions provided. Not a great experience. But I was only 14

They picked Stanford for SB-19 because No-Cal had been lobbying for a SB for a while, the NFL had no problem for No-Cal to have it, but did not want it at Candlestick. Stanford was passable for a stadium to use, but that was the last SB that No-Cal would get for 30 years.
I'm a football fan and a football fan. I was hoping that the NFL would keep the grass for the stadiums that are switching for the World Cup. We all know that artificial fields are terrible for players, so why not keep the change. Also, Los Angeles nearly lost out on utilizing SoFi (which is overrated to me because it honestly lacks any soul) because of the artificial turf they currently use. Crazy to think that the heart of the city nearly lost out on hosting because of field concerns. Just make them all grass already... teams and stadiums can definitely afford it.
Actually the super bowl that started the patriots dynasty was super bowl 36 in the superdome but for the 2nd dynasty it was in NRG so there's that. And yes it's the place where Seahawk fans never take about and run away from it.
Remember this, folks. There is only ONE NFL football 🏈 team in New York. The Buffalo Bills 🦬 (they physically play their games in the Village of Orchard Park, Erie County, New York).
Montreal bid to host Super Bowl XI, luckily unsuccessfully. The NFL voted for Pasadena as the site in March 1975, for the game scheduled for January 1977. Montreal's Olympic Stadium was being built for the 1976 Summer Olympics, but its planned roof was not actually finished until 1987. And it's always been a terrible venue for anything.
The Rose Bowl is in a sketchy part of LA? Last time I was there I say a lot of wealthy neighborhoods that surrounded the stadium. Perhaps you're thinking of the Coliseum?
Hey, when that new Bills stadium is built the NFL will roll the dice on hosting a Super Bowl there like at Met Life… of course they’d have to move the Super Bowl to July. 😂
Did NRG stadium really start the Patriots dynasty though? They won their first super bowl two years prior in New Orleans and the Win at NRG was their first of a repeat. I don't think that two championships necessarily makes you a dynasty, so I would have to disagree with the way that he said it
Why do I look at this video and go, "Yeah, that was a good place to host a WrestleMania"? Except for Allegiant where I go "That's going to be a good place to host a WrestleMania next year" and US Bank where I say "I can't believe it hasn't hosted a WrestleMania yet". Tampa really did make out like a bandit during COVID though, getting the Super Bowl probably because Florida gave a lot less of a crap about the Rona than elsewhere, then getting the first 'Mania and first WWE _crowd_ with real fans in 13 months a few months later. (And the first rain delay to WrestleMania.) Jacksonville beats them out a bit though because their adjacent venue Daily's Place, being open air _enough_ for public safety's sake, had reduced-capacity real-fan crowds for AEW earlier than that. (I say 'real fan crowds' because of the stretch where both AEW in Jacksonville and NXT in Winter Park had trainee and preliminary wrestlers as the crowd... and I can't recall but I think NXT stuck with that while WWE went with the ThunderDome in Amway, then the Trop, then USF's arena, until touring started back up properly in the summer of 2021. /long_aside)
They actually wanted to have Super Bowl ix at the Superdome in 1975 but as it wasn’t finished yet, they switched it to Tulane stadium and it was one of the Worst weather Super Bowl ever.
Dolphins owner Joe Robbie offered to swap IX and X with New Orleans when it was clear the Superdome wasn't going to be ready. The NFL said no.
As a lifelong Vikings fan, I'm good if they just skip that one

Montreal's Olympic Stadium was being built for the 1976 Summer Olympics, but its planned roof was not actually finished until 1987. And it's always been a terrible venue for anything.
The LA Coliseum didn't host the World Cup either for the men in '94 or the women in '99. LA games were played at the Rose Bowl.
"You're making progress Lions fans
(no they're not)"
*incinerates with eye-blasts*
I want a Lions vs Browns Super Bowl one day!!!!
after how close they came to getting screwed by the weather at Metlife I doubt another open air northern stadium ever sniffs another Superbowl
The LA Coliseum never hosted a World Cup. That was the Rose Bowl.
The Rose Bowl is in a sketchy part of LA? Last time I was there I say a lot of wealthy neighborhoods that surrounded the stadium. Perhaps you're thinking of the Coliseum?
Hey 5 I'm struggling to find your stadium channel
I was promised the worst sheds
Hey, when that new Bills stadium is built the NFL will roll the dice on hosting a Super Bowl there like at Met Life… of course they’d have to move the Super Bowl to July. 😂
Remember this, folks. There is only ONE NFL football 🏈 team from New York. The Buffalo Bills 🦬 (they physically play in Orchard Park, New York).
Raiders fans were in for it with the SB because the Chiefs had to use the home locker room. Gotta suck being the third most popular team in Las Vegas.
Bro Pasadena is one of the richest communities I Los Angeles lol that stadium is surrounded by million dollar homes
SHED BOWL!!!
Didn’t the patriots dynasty start against the Rams in New Orleans
If you think Super Bowl 52 was the worst outcome for Giants fans, then you must love this season 😂😂😂😂
Critique USL stadiums sometime.
How is the rose bowl in a sketchy area it’s in the very rich area Pasadena. The coliseum on the other hand….
US Bank Stadium has a capacity of 73,000? More like 66,000
For state farm stadium i thought Arizona hosted 3 superbowls 2008,2015 and 2023
Us BIlls fans know what's coming when you talk about the super bowl. No need to apologize.
what can i say about SoFi? the Lambs play there... yuck! 🤮 but at least every time my Niners play there it becomes Levi's South! 😆🤣😆
Did NRG stadium really start the Patriots dynasty though? They won their first super bowl two years prior in New Orleans and the Win at NRG was their first of a repeat. I don't think that two championships necessarily makes you a dynasty, so I would have to disagree with the way that he said it
I don’t think the area around the Rose Bowl is sketchy. The area around the LA Coliseum is sketchy
9:30 It was because of Covid restrictions.
r/whoosh
You called Pasadena sketchy? lol ain’t nothing sketchy about the area around the rose bowl
