- These are all individual chapter world records as of this upload date. This is something I worked on every now and then for a while, but kept the project as a secret until I had all of the chapters on video. Story Mode Snaking is something that has lacked competition and videos, so I thought it would be nice to have a complete set of videos.
A lot of people may not know, but every chapter is different in some way for each difficulty setting. More obvious changes are stuff like objectives adjustments and amount of laps to complete.
Things that are not as apparent are the AI behavior and AI health, which does change with increased difficulty settings. The only chapter which is pretty much the same of every difficulty is Chapter 9. The Staff Ghost has no potential influence.

this also happened in f zero x with boost sliding over 1500 km/h
You are more right than you know; after a boost, holding down on the A button only makes your speed decrease, since it was not programmed to accelerate your racer, merely to get it to the top speed, from wether or not your current speed is above or below it.
Now I finally understand why you looked so laid back and almost bored at AGDQ 2014. Even though you were playing absurdly fast by normal standards those times were nothing compared to what you can actually do.
Black Shadow and blood falcon overlapped on chapter 7... never thought I'd see the day.

Phenomenal work, and a very welcome Christmas present - really nice to see people still play GX.
Such mastery over this game -- I never thought I'd see it back when it was first released and I had the reaction of a spry young man that could complete this game. I spent a lot of time but these techniques might invite me back into the game. I have my cube, my copy, and two relatively unused CTR TVs. I might be able to bring my old self to be able to win once again.

As I sit here watching this, I think about how many hours I spent trying to perfect snaking (and this game in general). I got it to a point where I was able to beat everything on very hard and get semi-decent times, but this makes me look like a total noob. Awesome display of skill.
I can also imagine having to ice your hands for several hours after.

The rubberbanding on black shadow and blood falcon in chapter 7 is absolutely crazy, did you see how far ahead of the rest of the pack they were just to catch up with cgn snaking?! This chapter is beyond stupid, I’m so glad I beat it and will never have to do it ever again

Skunk Man I finished all chapters on very hard a few days ago, if you try hard enough you can do it too, I think anyone can do it if they give it enough tries.
I did have a fucking cramp on my thumb after chapter 5 tho... boosting non stop hurt my finger a lot
I began grinding the last 3 chapters on Very Hard all night recently so I could move on from & complete the story mode. It took longer than I wished it did to beat all three together but yea.
Chapter 7 - I actually started getting a thrill playing this one and enjoyed tackling it despite how hard it can get and the frustration. For me, this chapter wasn't THE hardest but it's still up there.
Chapter 8 - The hardest as well as my least favorite chapter to tackle, my hands were starting to get sore before I finally got it (it was the last thing I did) because the attempts took awhile due to the track length, it being 5 laps, trying to traverse the track quickly and especially narrowly losing.
Chapter 9 - It's easy to miss the small energy re-filler at the end of the track and ruin the attempt. Also, it's easy to the point of tempting to just fall off of the track but I got better at it.
@@ravenfuckantifa2000 well in that time span I finished them all, it took me between two or three weeks from the moment I started trying to beat all chapters on hard, then very hard as well as beating all cups in Master difficulty. Story mode was the hardest part and it’s not even close.
I’d say the hardest chapters were 1,5 and 7 :
1 : although being really easy in normal, this one is absolutely brutal in very hard, you HAVE to boost all the way through while collecting the capsules that are placed in really douchey patterns, and unlike in the other difficulties it requires a lot of planning to make sure you get all of them, this one was so hard, it almost made me give up before even getting really started.
5 : this one is simple, 40 seconds, a straightforward track with no turns, one condition, you will not be allowed anything but perfection. This is the only chapter that physically hurt my hands ( my thumb hurt so bad at some point I had to take a break because I couldn’t even press the A button anymore), you have to know every door pattern perfectly and position accordingly, not to mention the capsules also require you to get off the track. There’s not much else to say, it’s a pure test of skill.
7 : this is the one that made me angry. It’s simple, if you don’t get rid of black shadow and blood falcon before the finish line you’re most likely screwed even if they are behind you ( I’ve seen 1 video of someone beating this chapter without killing anyone, and it looks like the AI went easy on him for the final line, otherwise yeah speedrunners don’t kill either of them and still manage to get a full lap ahead, but their skill has evolved way past normal human skills so it doesn’t count ^^’ ) you’re going on one of the hardest tracks in the game, with slippery parts, lava pools, narrow paths, no railings and sharp turns. You also have to beat the AI, who wants you DEAD, everyone is on to your throat, black shadow and blood falcon are complete cheaters, they have ridiculous top speed and acceleration, infinite boost that lasts forever and also goes super fast. If you don’t dispose of them, victory is near impossible. I even resorted to cheesing black shadow by killing him at the very start ( he starts behind you so when he tries to pass you you can attack him and kill him ) just to give myself a bit of leeway. And even then I still had to kill blood falcon somewhere along the track and not get killed during the 5 laps this takes. This one is by far the most brutal imo.
As for chapter 8 and 9 here’s my opinion :
8 : this one seems very hard until you go the full accel route. Since the road is so narrow and with such sharp corners, it’s very hard to not eat one wall or two, but here’s the catch. Deathborn is actually not very fast so even with max accel you will catch up to him and pass him as long as you drive well. And that’s the hard part really, because once you pass him with max accel, you’ve basically won, he can’t catch up to you unless you make some major mistake, and the track itself, once you’re rid of the pressure of an opponent ahead of you is not that complicated to drive through. Mind you, it’s still really hard, I’m not trying to downplay that, but definitely not up there with 1, 5 and 7 imo
9 : this one is... it’s pretty hard but really there’s not much going on, drive well, don’t fall off and make sure to get your boost back at the end. Once you know exactly how to tackle every turn ( which isn’t too hard, there’s like 6 of them at most ) it’s just a matter of boosting when it counts ( for example there is a long hill where if you boost at the apex of it, you’ll shoot into the air and be able to gain a lot of speed when coming down ) as long as you’re boosting your way through the ghost will stay behind you and you’ll win.
No F-zero at AGDQ this year :(

+E-Dragon I think Naeg withdrew his submission because he knew it was going to get declined due to the ridiculous game selection choices by AGDQ this year. After he pulled out, AKC didn't want to go alone so he did too. Rather unfortunate but maybe we'll get something going for SGDQ

Excellent snaking patterns you get good speed with BF. I was never able to sub 30 on Chapter 5 and even Battlestream fell short of sub 30 but you got it! I hope it took you more than 1 try to beat my other records
How much time/how many attempts have you done on chapter 5?
I respect this whole dedication. Clearing the game on every difficulty this fast. But I'm glad I'm not Jody Summer.... She had to go in Blue Falcon with CGN going this fast. I would crap my pants during the ride and vomit afterwards.

I've always wondered why snaking has its own category. Why is that? Also, what are the other categories and which one is the fastest?
+Gatoray there is snaking and maxspeed for story mode, for time attack there is even spaceflying. All 3 categories play very differently which is the reason why it was splitted. For snaking you use max acceleration settings to do this rapid motion to go faster and faster, but it can damage your hands, which is why maxspeed is more preferred where you use max speed settings where different techniques get more important than in snaking. Spaceflying is the theoretical any%. The checkpointsystem of this game are pretty weird and can be abused to finish a lap in a few seconds with another glitch that allowes you to fly and this is obviously very different from the 2 other categories.
Spaceflying is the fastest if you can do it ( you can't do it in story mode because the blue falcon can't fly ) and snaking is usually faster than maxspeed, but there are a few exceptions.

I'll explain
Snaking is a mini discovered glitch in this game, F-Zero GX. What you do in snaking is that you are alternatively turning left and right, with the shoulder triggers as well. What it does is that you can gain )and please, no offense becuz i swear) A FUCKTON OF SPEED!!! For just going in an S line, you can gain speed (This game have very quirky physics...). The only thing you need to do, however, is instead of putting your machine at Max Speed, you put it as Max Acceleration.

@@energysynergymatrix8145 I wonder sometimes if its a glitch, because some of the staff ghosts do it. Either that or it is a glitch and the staff left it in. Some of them even use shift boosting. This game and the people that worked on it are one of a kind.

When the engine is on the car wants to go back to its original top speed after boosts or snaking extremely quickly. Turning the engine off makes the car slow down to that aforementioned top speed much slower than if the engine was on.
